To double the odds of being seen, waiting on votes for ESPN vs Yahoo preference from: Smith and 9th, Jason, YWK.
And once we decide, waiting on emails (I can probably track them down from JeffG's preseason email thread but would appreciate if it didn't come to that) to send league invites from: Smith and 9th, Jason, YWK, Mikulka, TWilson, GREAT ONE, Blue Hen, and Da Bomb.

email link, and I prefer ESPN because, as I understand it, it offers a real life Shohei Ohtani while Yahoo turns him into 2 separate players. But I really don't care.

Also for added emphasis, especially since this will be a huge factor in draft pick selection:
For our league if Yahoo was to win, Initial proposal is that the manager to draft Ohtani would get the rights to both players as long as they kept both rostered. Dropping the pitcher in between starts got messy instantly so we'll lose the value of the added roster spot in between starts but still hold the value of being able to roster both the pitcher and batter on days he pitches.

Found emails for Jason and YWK in last year's yahoo league, sent them a reminder to add their preference.
Can dig through the preseason email from jeffg and previous yahoo season archives to see about finding the other 3 emails at some point Sunday or Monday if no feedback in the meantime.

Current summary, please advise right away if you feel I've placed you in the wrong category. Will have some time late Monday evening to finalize, so feel free to flip-flop in the meantime...
Yahoo - 8: Bean, Uptown Bombers, ksoze, Da Bomb, holt, filthy, GO, YWK ESPN - 7 : IAC, mailedfoot, mmikulka, Blue Hen, twilson, Smith and 9th, Jason no pref - 1: Species
In the other thread I said I could be persuaded to switch to a no preference vote if last year's champion had a convincing enough argument. With kdl saying they don't really care, and a proposal to replicate Ohtani to closely match how ESPN handles him, I am still leaning to my first feeling of wanting yahoo.
However, I have found something about yahoo slightly annoying this hockey season, and just confirmed the same looks to be in the works for baseball... when I try to look up stats on a player page, it doesn't show a career summary anymore. Planning to sleep on it for my own personal preference now that the pitch clock is winding down, and will look at some espn samples after work tomorrow (pacific time), then digest any feedback posted here Monday evening to come to a final decision by the break of Tuesday.

to make sure I understand - the Ohtani proposal is that whoever drafts him first gets both Ohtani (P) and Ohtani (DH). Doing that will require 2 roster slots and therefore that manager only has 24 human baseball players on their roster, while all the other teams in the league have 25 humans?
Does the manager who drafts Ohtani (and gets two players with that pick - valued as approximately a round 1 hitter and a round 3-5 pitcher) forfeit their 25th round draft choice?
Finally (a much less important question), in Yahoo, under the proposal, can the manager who owns Ohtani use him as both a pitcher and a DH on the same day (if I recall, in ESPN, you can start him as a pitcher OR a hitter, but not both).

I agree that the lack of a Team Log (for incurable stat nerds like us) is a bummer on ESPN, but I wouldn't call it massively frustrating, and it doesn't come close to making the site unusable in my opinion. In October at the end of the season, it's cute to see how many home runs I got from Albert Pujols in those handful games he was on my roster, or how awful those two starts from JT Brubaker really were. But very quickly after that: who cares?
Another question relevant to ESPN v Yahoo: I really appreciate the ESPN player rater feature that is based on the specific hitting categories that RIBC uses, and not the standard 5x5 categories. I found it quite helpful preseason and in-season and illuminating postseason.
Does Yahoo offer a similar player rater feature (i.e. a ranking system that is specific to RIBC hitter categories)?

Re: 15 yes, and I find Yahoo’s better as it also allows for per game/average sort ranking which makes it easier to compare players who have missed games vs. ESPN where it is only by total value.
I also find Yahoo’s standing view superior as it shows a bar graph for each category making it much easier visually to compare your team to others.
And for position eligibility: Yahoo: 5 starts or 10 total appearances in a position. ESPN: Games played at a position during last season: 20. Games played at a position during the current season: 10.

I always find ESPN player rater frustrating,as I can only see rankings over various time periods but not stats. Then on the stats page I can only see the default player rater (14 days I think) even when I'm looking at last 7 days stats. It's totally possible I haven't learned to use it correctly. If so, please someone teach me.
At Yahoo, I can see rankings and stats for the same period of time all at once.

Yahoo also has the fun "Record Book" - so if we keep RIBC on there continually you would be able to see all time record holders... like if I steal 300 bases this year, 5 years from now someone will see that in the record book easily of most SB-Single Season. I enjoy that kind of history. Especially in a legacy league.

14- You are understanding perfectly. Yahoo loses the roster spot in order to roster both, but gains the ability to have both in your lineup on days Ohtani pitches.
Appreciate the well thought out feedback from everyone providing it. Feels like most just wanna play, don't majorly care where, pretty much even among preference with heavier campaigning for Yahoo among those with stronger preference. Still leaning to yahoo at this point, but will be doing some chores and such to allow a few more hours in case any strong pitches for ESPN come through late.

This is because you aren't in AAA - you are in RIBC. I kept the league from last year and renewed it, so I had to remove the players who moved up or decided not to play this year.

20- I see nothing definite about what was posted in 13. Aside from multiple threads open am not sure where the confusion lies. From post 13 "then digest any feedback posted here Monday evening to come to a final decision by the break of Tuesday." Last year's champ had a few questions that seemed worth giving time to see a response but it is now the break of Tuesday so I feel good about giving the stated amount of time and trying to ensure everyone had a chance to be heard. Yahoo takes it by a hair. Will have some time to set it up on Tues or Wed evening.
As one of the more important decisions of the draft in my opinion, I see no need to nudge YWK forward until the arbitrary March 9th date mentioned in post 4. That date is based on last year's timeframe, feels like a solid target. A great moment to go through our ranks in this calm before the storm while we wait. YWK is more than welcome to select before March 9th if they feel prepared to decide.

For reference, last year draft selection took about 4 days, draft about 12 days. Start march 9th would finish us around march 25th, we have a buffer still.
Rough targets: Finish pick selection by March 13th. Finish round 10 by March 20th. Finish draft by March 27th. Opening rounds tend to have some rust and then we get flying by the middle rounds historically, feels like reasonable targets to me.
Deciding whether to use a clock and how aggressive of a clock if we aren't looking to hit these targets as we go.

14 / Ohtani:
In AAA last year we also used Yahoo, but the commissioner decided a hybrid solution was the most fair way to assimilate how the main RIBC was doing it. Since RIBC last year was in ESPN, and the Ohtani owner gets both the hitter and pitcher, he decided upon:
1) Ohtani drafter gets BOTH the hitter and pitcher in 1 draft pick 2) To offset the two roster slots it would require to match the ESPN treatment, the Ohtani owner could drop Ohtani the pitcher in between starts and pick up other players in between. Ohtani the pitcher was (supposed to be) OFF LIMITS to being picked up by any other manager.
#2 was a cluster. A team or two might have just forgotten about the rule and picked him up by accident. A team or two seemed to do it out of spite or protest. I was given Commish powers and kept dropping him for a while. Later I just kept him and never dropped him to avoid the issue.
We are RIBC this year. I suggest we just determine a course well before the draft, and whoever drafts Ohtani does so understanding the nuance:
1) Treat him like two players. Easy peasy. No outside management required.
2) Treat him as ONE drafted player, however you have to roster BOTH the hitter and pitcher. Want the benefit of a 2-way player with one pick? Cool, the cost of doing business is it eats 2 roster spots. Drop one? Fair game.
3) Do the hybrid as I described. But I don't recommend it unless we are a really dedicated bunch.

Adding to 27, it's probably wise to finalize this determination, as it very well could (and should) impact draft order consideration at the top.

I was the commish who made that decision, and it was made to attempt to emulate RIBC as much as possible. It was, indeed, a cluster. Anyone with a half a thought should question why Ohtani would be in the FA pool even if they ignored the rule, which was stated several times.
This year they are separate players. The end.

This was the Option 1 I was talking about Nerf:
"Treat him like two players. Easy peasy. No outside management required."
I get why it was done the way it was last year, but this year, it's indefensible.

<29> Option #1 denies the unicorn reality of Ohtani. He is one player for the Angels, and is an all-star hitter and pitcher. To the extent the league wanted to replicate that reality in our imaginary baseball league, he would be one person on the roster, usable at any eligible position the manager wanted.
ESPN offers the closet approximation of real-world Ohtani, with no clusterf*ckery required. Draft him, use him as a DH or pitcher
If we play at Yahoo, I vote option #1 for Ohtani to avoid the circus that apparently results from league managers who can't follow a simple rule (I'd like to think RIBC managers are better behaved - they did self-police themselves regarding the use of IL slots when, according to this message board, non-RIBC managers regularly violated it).
