Welcome to the 2024 season of G20. With our league now filled with three new managers, we have a lot to do, starting with our 'Expansion Draft'. In this process, the three departed teams have their entire rosters, including Prospects, thrown into a pool and they are drafted, one-by-one, until all players are accounted for.
I will start a new thread for this purpose and to concentrate questions for our new leaguemates.
We have a voluntary trade pause so our new managers can have access to players on the trade block as equally as everyone else.
I mentioned this in Discord, but the Dodgers and Padres play a 2-game series in Korea this year on March 20 / 21st. Considering how long and involved our draft season is already, having the entirety of our draft season done by then just is not plausible in my opinion - we would be making keeper and draft decisions so early in Spring Training. In previous years, we were simply forced to skip those games and keep a draft schedule to the main Opening Day.
I am open to discussion on this but I don't see starting early as an alternative. Thumper asked if there was a way to have players who are on rosters on those dates have stats added. I don't see it as viable as Yahoo doesn't appear to have that functionality.
Last year Opening Day was March 30th. This year it is March 28th, so in taking last year's timing and bringing it back 2 days, we would have the following DRAFT schedule
- Keepers are due Sunday March 10th at Noon ET - Prospect keepers are due Monday March 11th at Noon ET - Prospect Draft starts Tuesday March 12th, Noon ET - Draftime will be opened for the Supplemental Draft by Thursday March 14th - Four hour draft clock will start Saturday March 16th

Roster cleanup time!
Our rules for IR spots typically means that teams will have in excess of 23 men on their roster at season's end. We need to clean that up, as if any of these teams make a trade, they are going to need to drop players anyway to have a legal roster to accommodate the trade.
In the past I only enforced the 23-player roster limit when a trade happened, as the extra players just get cut at the Keeper Deadline. We all have dead weight on our rosters that have zero chance of being kept, so I am going to require that everyone drop to our requirement of 23 players now.
The following teams need to designate the noted number of cuts from their team - this is required by February 15th:
Species 3 (already done) bmd 3 (this includes making room for the required 'call up' of Fujinami from your prospect list DonkeyKong 2 blue hen 2 Tosh 2 Fosten 4 (this includes making room for the call up of Kodai Senga) Nerfherders 25 Guru 1 Taxman 1 ttucowboy 4 youngroman 3 (I already cut Ohtani the pitcher for you)
