Philliephan was the firtst Guru Jr. this year.
To recap the criteria, the next Guru Jr. must:
Show signs of Guru-like tendencies, which include, but aren't limited to: statistical support, answering questions, and just being all-around good for the prosperity of this forum. The nominee can also show a sense of humor that makes this forum more enjoyable during hard times.
The winner gets the nametag for the week and the honor of choosing the Guru Jr. the following week based on nominations.
let the voting begin. the next guru jr will be crowned on friday |

For the most thought provoking and opinion producing thread since the start of the season.
If you haven't got a headache, go get one here. and spend some time with Richard, my vote for Guru Jr. this week.
Of course Madman is over there too! ;-)

Can I change my vote to Tranceformer? His patented "tongue-lashing" technique really cleaned up the riff-raff on these boards, and his AP test scores were really high! Not to mention he knows more about math, statistics, social manipulation, and fantasy sports than Madman, Richard, Sludge, KKB, and even Guru combined. In fact, I think we should rename this the Tranceformer award....

It's hard to choose when there are so many worth options, but very early on I decided that when the voting started up Madman would be the obvious choice. He's still my pick.

All worthy choices but I'll go with the one who posted the most impactful thread this past week and that's Richard.

i vote RSF... although others on here do contribute quite a number of interesting and insightful posts, the concept of Guru is someone who works tireless and thanklesslly every day to make the board a better place..and although those other contributions do add alot to the board, the majority of the time they benefit only a certain proportion of the board public...but everyone uses the spreadsheets...so,who posts the spreadsheets every day? who uses the spreadsheets? who gets no thanks, except the "nod", or the random "rsf, you rock".. so for his tireless work both on the basketball and baseball forums EVERY DAY AND NIGHT, i vote/nominate RSF....its not just dropping stats or pretending you know something..its tedious, hard, thankless, work that only a truly GURUlike person would undertake....
RSF RSF RSF RSF RSF RSF RSF the rest of you are also good, richard with his stats, madman with his humor (quinn for mvp), and the others with their insightful commentary(pink pimp, etc(whoever wants to include themselves..go ahead.......and i can't forget...steve houpt with his nice nice to the point mathematic/scientific writing style...
except sludge. you are a bad professor.... thanks to you..i will do my best to prevent any one from attending community college...

Definitely RecycledSpinalFluid. I know that it's very easy for people with basic CSE knowledge to do what he does, but nevertheless, he's the only one who does it. I have no idea why, but hey, different strokes for different folks. Anyways, without a doubt, RSF's "Tonight's Action" posts are by far the most informative posts on the message boards. This is a stupid award, but if people care about it, then put me down for RSF. I just want information and facts...I could care less about other people's opinions. Thanks, RSF, for giving me what I want. As for the rest of you, I just have one thing to say: The blind lemming is the most ignorant of them all, for he calls others lemmings, but can not see that he himself is one.

Let's see which Guru do I most appreciate?
J for listing me in the Movers and Shakers.
RSF for keeping me posted on the standings.
Richard for getting the information from SW.
and many others that I should mention.
But I vote for Madman for making my head hurt trying to follow things like "multiple regression" "obtaining coefficients under standard loss assumptions" "constrain "a" so that it equals the negative of "b"" "Ordinary Least Squares" all in one post. but then again his post and threads are lengthy, technical, informative, full of big words and bigger concepts. (Still cannot get his spreadsheet to work.)
