In response to a query I sent this afternoon, Don Mathis, our "inside contact" at Smallworld, has told me he is no longer with the company.
He's given me another contact name there as a possible "gurupie contact" but I want to touch base with the guy before giving out his information.
I actually e-mailed Don about the missing Smallworld Stuff page. The fact that the page is no longer available (nor is Don, apparently) makes even me nervous.
More information as it become available.

Hmmm. This may explain why I never heard back from him after my email regarding those of us who were screwed out of Unit's 170-point start.
Thanks for the info, PD.

I guess I should have started a swirve team. This does not sound promising.

Perm Dude, did Mathis happen to mention anything about the future of smallworld?

Yikes, looks like the end for Smallworld. Maybe if they collapse, I can get a life for a little while... ;-)

Not a thing, slimer. I'd be surprised if he had--probably a standard confidentiality clause in his employment agreement would prevent any post-employment dirt.

Do you think they can survive till mid season? At least then we can all move into half season leagues in Swirve and stuff....

Swirve has never had midseason baseball that I recall, perhaps they should consider it...

I wonder if Mathis signed a "non-compete." If he didn't, he could be a tremendous asset to those that want to make a Guru fantasy baseball game. But knowing modern business, he's probably not allowed to engage in internet fantasy sports for about a year.

Honestly, this is only my second year doing Fantasy Sports, and I love it. The question I have is what other options do people have if they are poor and can't spend money on playing fantasy games? Are there other outlets like Smallworld that exist? Thanks yall....

Plus this time it isn't Internal Server Errors, its that the page is no longer there. Time to say goodbye.

Anybody know if the pay games are still up? would hate to think that people got jobbed that way also...
just some other random thoughts... how much cash do you think it would take to buy the game engine? Is the game engine even worth buying?
and on another note, what is the minimum number of active teams you need to make the market behave correctly? 2,000? 10,000? more...

The problem with smallness is it's only good up to a point. Then you've got to be careful to avoid the event horizon.
