wiggs has a fairly lengthy e-mail queue so I shouldn't hold the draft up. I gotta go study for the rest of the night. Hope we get through a bunch of picks.

My laptop access is ending here in a minute or two but I'm not out of work for another hour. If the draft gets back to me this evening I'll be home about 10:45.

I'm sorry, but I don't have Phil's next pick. My computer was having problems so I had to reboot. Guess we'll just have to wait . . .

Another thing . . . . Phil, Oklahoma State better win this game. I picked them just because you said so . .

Ok . . . I don't know what everyone's schedule is like tomorrow, but I'm thinking we can wrap this thing up. I know several people have told me that they're going to be gone for the weekend or the early part of next week.

If you're going to be away for any significant amount of time on Friday, please e-mail me with a queue to get you through the end of the draft.

Also, don't forget . . . . you must e-mail me with the contract status of all 25 players within 48 hours of the last pick of the draft. For those of you who might be going out of town, go ahead and send me your contracts before you leave.

I'm sorry I haven't done a better job lately of updating the rosters through CBS. The way they have things setup, I have to delete everyone's roster and re-enter the teams from scratch everytime I perform an update. Needless to say, this is very time consuming. Hopefully the draft chart has been helpful in seeing who picked who and who hasn't been picked.

I'm putting everyone on their honor. Please do not discuss any trades before all players have been signed. I'll post the contract information on the CBS league site as soon as I get it . . . so you'll be able to see who is signed and for how long.

I don't see anything wrong with extending the deadline until Monday if the draft finishes today. There may be others with weekend commitments that could cause problems with setting up their contracts.

hey, we still have over 2 rounds to go. Chances are we wont finish til saturday anyways, 48 hours from then is monday. I think you will all be ok. And if we do finish some time today, i dont see a problem with extending to say 12 est monday.

Noon Monday seems like a good deadline. We're not in so much of a rush that one extra day will hurt, and contracts are important and need to be thought out.

rogue, it says in the rules that the 2 division winners will play each other in the first round of the playoffs. The winner will get 40 dollars, loser will get 20.

Yes, but at the bottom of the page it doesn't say how the percentages work out for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners once that 60$ is taken out. Its not hard to figure out with a calculator, but the exact prize figures should be written down before the season starts.

from the draft thread . . . . posted by allhair allstars . .

All,
For future reference (and until further notice), Unemployed requests that some kind soul make the next few picks for him. He's has an emergency to attend to and might not be able to make his last few selections (depending on how quickly the draft moves along). He'll be back as soon as he's able.

Thanks.

I hope the situation with Unemployed is not serious. Until we hear from him again, I will be making his picks . . . hope this is ok with everyone.

Blockaa, got another question for ya. We're allowed to upgrade a player's contract before August 15th, right? But if I upgrade say, Brian Jordan, who has a 1-year deal, and give him another two years, does that mean he is taking up one of my 3 3-year deal slots? In other words, if all my 4, 3, and 2 year deal slots are full, can I still upgrade players contracts?

Tim . . . my computer doesn't have Excel. I might have a spreadsheet viewer, but I'm not sure. So you may want to send it some other way . . .

Richard . . . you are correct in your thinking. You cannot upgrade the salary unless you have an open slot. It is not possible to downgrade a contract . . . you can drop or trade players, but otherwise you'll be stuck with the player for the full length of the contract.

Ok, but do we have to have 12 1-year players at all times? I understand that we have to have 12 when we sign our contracts, but by my count I'll have room for two or more 2-year deals. So, can I upgrade two 1-year players, leaving me with only 10 1-year guys?

As things stand right now . . . yes. You must always have 12 guys signed to 1-year contracts. I think that the contract limitations will work well, but we'll just have to see. After this season, we'll have a much better idea and be able to adjust anything that doesn't work.

Don't forget . . . any player, from your team, who's contract runs out at the end of the season will become a restricted free agent. You'll be able to retain (a max of 10 of) your restricted free agents by matching the highest bid (in bones) and signing them (using bone(s)) to new contracts. All that stuff should be spelled out more clearly on the rules page. Ask me if you have anymore questions.

To All:

I'd make a suggestion that you get familiar with the CBS website before opening day. You have to set your own player status (IE active/bench/DL) and position (IE player starting @ 2B or SS if eligible at both). It's not really hard, but it's a bit awkward the first time you look at it.

If you ae not careful, it's possible to aceive and illegal roster.

Of course, you will all be getting an ILLEGAL ROSTER warning due to salary until you send blockaa your contracts.

blockaa : His team looks fine, as soon as he picks his starters and positions the WARNING should go away.

FYI- there seems to be 2 warning checks. One for salary requirements, which should never be an issue after 3/18/02 and one for ACTIVE/POSITION requirements which will be the responsibilty of the owner to set & monitor.

It should be noted that the scoring is set to give ZERO (0) starts for illegal rosters. In otherwords, if you have 25 ACTIVE players on 3/31 and 4/1, you will get no HR's, RBI's etc.. at all for those two days!
