0 Subject: Pay Me or Trade Me II Draft (AL/NL Group)

Posted by: ¤ Mario LeMoose ¤

The draft order is not up yet; however, just in case any of you missed Sunday's group e-mail regarding league affiliation errors in the Sandbox player database:

Please make note of the following and adjust your draft list accordingly. Players are noted in the order in which they appear in the Sandbox player pool. I used CBS Sportsline's rosters, as they include minor leaguers invited to spring training, and RotoTimes for verification.

Catchers
Lampkin, Tom ... from Sea to SD (NL)
Zaun, Gregg ... from KC to Hou (NL)
Brown, Kevin L. ... from Mil to TB (AL)

First Base
Pickering, Calvin ... from Cin to Bos (AL)
Vaughn, Mo ... from Ana to NYM (NL)

Second Base
Relaford, Desi ... from NYM to Sea (AL)
Veras, Quilvio ... from Atl to Bos (AL)
Izturis, Cesar ... from Tor to LA (NL)

Third Base
Stynes, Chris ... from Bos to ChC (NL)
Coomer, Ron ... from ChC to NYY (AL)
Magadan, Dave ... retired
Minor, Ryan ... from Mon to Sea (AL)

Shortstop
Johnson, Keith ... from LA to Ana (AL)
Bellhorn, Mark ... from Oak to ChC (NL)

Outfield
Vander Wal, John ... from SF to NYY (AL)
Canseco, Jose ... from CWS to Mon (NL)
Gant, Ron ... from Oak to SD (NL)
Gwynn, Tony ... retired
Davis, Eric ... retired
Mateo, Ruben ... from Tex to Cin (NL)
Guillen, Jose ... from TB to Ari (NL)
Gilkey, Bernard ... incarcerated
Buhner, Jay ... retired
Dunwoody, Todd ... from ChC to Cle (AL)

Starting Pitchers
Park, Chan Ho ... from LA to Tex (AL)
Appier, Kevin ... from NYM to Ana (AL)
Tapani, Kevin ... retired
Holt, Chris ... from Det to Col (NL)
Wasdin, John ... headed for Japan
Saberhagen, Bret ... retired

Relief Pitchers
Van Poppel, Todd ... from ChC to Tex (AL)
Paniagua, Jose ... from Sea to Col (NL)
Boehringer, Brian ... from NYY to Pit (NL)
McElroy, Chuck ... from Bal to Hou (NL)
Seanez, Rudy ... from SD to Tex (AL)
Rodriguez, Rich ... from Cle to Atl (NL)
Crabtree, Tim ... from Tex to LA (NL)
Brocail, Doug ... from Det to Hou (NL)
McGlinchy, Kevin ... from Atl to TB (AL)
Pedro Borbon appears twice (the duplicate as Pedro Borbon, Jr.); the second listing is missing stats.

Be careful with your picks. ***If you select a player from the wrong league, you must waive him at the conclusion of the draft.*** (Should an legitimate "accident" occur, I'll try to mediate a settlement between the involved parties.) Remember, our league assignments also remain in effect for all waiver wire/free agent pick-ups for the duration of the season.

NEWSBREAK (LAKE TITICACA) - Montezuma's Revenge of the Pay Me or Trade Me II fantasy league held a press conference today to announce the signings of catcher Ivan Rodriguez and second baseman Bret Boone. Asked for comment, Boone gushed "I'm excited about the opportunity to be a part of such a quality organization". Rodriguez was equally as enthusiastic. "Guano and I go way back so I know how brilliant a GM he is; much smarter than that other guy we had running our team a few years back. As long as I don't have to catch that (expletive deleted) Rocker, we'll be a contender." Later, Rodriguez added "Please don't quote me on that".

No shortage of runs in the Houston-Florida game, capped by Alan Zinter's grand slam in the top of the 10th off Jason Grilli. Biggio, Bagwell, Ausmus, Hidalgo and Wagner did not make the trip; Berkman played the entire game and had an RBI single and a ground rule double in five at-bats. A pair of orioles (the birds, not the ball players) kept the fans very entertained. :-)

Now, back to the draft. Those of us selecting players "live" (i.e., not on autopick) will need to pick up the pace a bit so that we can finish before the Sandbox deadline of March 27 at 2:00 p.m. ET. I'll keep my computer online tonight until at least midnight (Eastern).

Now, where have we seen this before?
The database is temporarily unavailable.
Please try again in a few minutes.

Sandbox appears to be comatose right now ... can't go in to set my team on autopick for the next two rounds. :-(
Unless the site miraculously recovers by 11:45, I won't be available to make my next selection until around 5:00 or so (off to see the Dodgers and Marlins).

... deepsnapper is now on the clock.

I'll have the computer up until at least midnight (Eastern).

Made my 2 picks. Sorry for the delay. I've been hurling all day and the Mrs. kept me in the sack.

Anybody awake???? J's up. Sorry things stopped with me last night. Sandbox crashed before I had a chance to put my team on autopilot, and I had to be out of town....Lot of work to do today!

sandbox is gonna auto pick for everyone starting tuesday afternoon apparently.

That could kinda hurt the whole idea of this league!!!! Hopefully we can turn it up a notch, including me, I'm gonna go on auto alot more, I promise.

Maybe everyone could committ to knocking this out Monday night??? I'd hate to get a bunch of autopicked players - but it's hard to sit by the computer for long fruitless streches, as well.....

well, the problem with autopicked players is the NL/AL issue. I wasn't able to adjust my draft card to dump all the NL players, and I'm assuming I'm not the only one!

Keep a full queue at all times! If we go auto at least you'll get a couple picks in with the right league. It might be all we need.

Here is the absolute cut-off, according to the Sandbox draft tip sheet:

All slow-live drafts not completed by 2:00PM on March 27, 2002 will use draft cards to automatically complete the rest of the rounds.

Given that March 27 is also "consolidation day" for unfilled leagues, let's not tempt fate. We should make every effort to finish by Tuesday evening.

I'm calling it a night. If I remembered how I set my draft card, then Fick will be picked next. If not, that damn Burkett will join the fold.

See ya'll in the AM.

Guano: Sure ... the player at the top of the queue in your keeper league will be next to go. Draft discussion has been moved to a new thread; click on the link in post 114 (above).
