I am hoping to have another short live draft tonight. I am waiting for kbridges3's response with what time he will be available, then I will be mass emailing the league.
Currently, it looks like we'll be drafting, starting at 10:30 pm (EST), if that suites everyone.

what a busy night and so many pissed of owners. Kbridges seemed like a quality guy, something might have come up. I say we institute a new rule because we need to speed things up, most everybody was around today except 2 people and they did leave a que. I am not a big fan a ques as well, but hell I am sick of wasting time because someone is not committed or they don't have the time. IF you it is your pick for more than 2hrs and you didnot leave a que, someone will make the pick for you. We can do this a two ways. First you decide which owner can make a pick or second the owner that is farthest away from your pick will make the pick. You can also leave a que with several different people if needed.
A que would have been helpful here, yes you might not get the exact person you wanted with the pick. I think this rule should take affect between the hours of 11estam and 11estpm time. I think this covers the east and west coast. In kbridges def, he was still 8 picks away after his pick, I think he could have left a reasonalbe que though. I think we need a vote on the issue because today was pathetic, by the time I pick again it will be close to 24hrs for one rd. Extremely weak.
We had it on the chat room, he needs OF, 1b or 3b. If he didn't like it he could have trade it.

Art, NO WAY! I will not agree to that, because i know i wont be around all the time and i am not leavine a 50 player queue. I have been sitting here waiting patiently for my pick and i will not be punished for someone else not showing up. This rule CAN NOT happen

I agree with Wiggs, by no means should someone be forced to leave a queue...
Now, if you DO NOT want to leave a queue, you should be checking frequently on the draft and show up during the times scheduled. It is a VERY HARD job to get 10 people online at the same time. Please do not make it any harder for me...

AP10, you are right, you do work hard trying to get everyone there. The problem is 1 guy doesnt show up and we can get nothing accomplished. Not only that, but the 1 guy that didnt show up, still hasnt made a pick 3 and a half hours after he was supposed to. I understand people are busy, and sometimes cant get to a fast draft, but dont say you will be there and have 9 others waiting for you. Thanks for the time and effort AP10

I think we need to do something. I am not asking for a 50 player que, what about 8-10 player. I am sure that I am like everyone else and don't want to wast another evening and tie up the phone line for the people that don't have the dsl like myself. Even if kbridges makes his pick now we won't get past thk until 5pm unless he left and que and it doesn't sound like he did. That will make it around 30 hrs after I made my last pick. If we continue at this rate, I'll make sure to check back in in another day or two. I think a leaving a que is not perfect but hell it will get us closer to playing. I'll bet we could figure out the next 5-6 picks with about 80% accuracy. I might not have the order but I can guess the players. My biggest issue is that I will be out of town starting sunday and will have extremely limited access. So I guess, I will be penelatized big tim them.

Here is the problem...
kbridges3 is available as follows :
Mon-Fri : During the day & LATE night
Weekends: ?
During the day people work and go to school therefore a live draft is essentially out. Weekends do not suite many people either, therefore that leaves us with LATE nights which isnt the best situation for many of us.
My point is this. At some point everyone has to make this league a priority for one time. I do not care when, but it needs to be done. If a few people do not make this league a priority for atleast one night or one weekend during the day, this draft will never get completed.
ie ) This week I have so much work and I had set aside Monday & Tuesday night to draft, and I would stay up a little later or do whatever the rest of the week to get my work done.
Since I have pushed back my work, tonight (Wednesday night) is out for me. I have so much stuff due, there is NO chance I can live draft. If it would suite everyone to live draft Thursday night, I will make it a priority to be on.
I will email Kbridges3 this afternoon about the situation...

What is late night? I agree with you that everyone needs to make it a priority for a periond of time. I will email kbridges and tell him to get off his ass, it has been his pick for about 12 hrs. I have had the two people email me that were interested when kbridges person flaked out and they might still be interested. For the good of league, it might be in our best interest to boot some less serious owners or owners that don't have time to draft. I am not singling anyone out. Kbridges was pretty forward with his schedule except the no show last night. It just might be another option and it will be an option if we don't get much done by friday.

It appears we MAY not get this draft done. Would anyone be opposed that we go with who we got (as of opening day) and I will add players to be available after each round is completed? I would imagine this would only affect some of your bench & prospects for the first week.

In his defense, he emailed me today after I emailed him suggesting that he was holding up the draft. I also stated that if he couldnt start getting a move on, that he should drop out of the league, even though I didnt want him to. I also suggested getting AIM to help things move. His response...
I'm aware that the season starts in 11 days. Let me try and explain this as best as I can: I don't set my schedule at night. I am assigned certain games on nights and there is nothing I can do about that. We will probably be rained out tonight and therefore tonight might work, however it won't work for some other people, I understand this. I don't want to drop out of
the league anymore than you want me to either. Thursday night is out, I have no control over that. Tuesday night March 26 I will be available
anytime after 9 pm EST. That is not too late. Since no one is willing to try and be available for the weekend, the only weekend I have free until the middle of June, Tuesday night is the only night I will be fully available for 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get this thing knocked out. I don't want to hold up anyone but I would appreciate a little patience. As I told you
yesterday, I don't have a computer at home, my wife and I are looking at buying one soon, in other words next year will not be like this years draft so far. The only internet access I have at the present time is here at work. If we can for sure say Tuesday night around 9 pm EST, I'm willing to stay until we are finished. So since I have no internet at home and only at work, I'm not able to download aim here at work. Within 2-3 weeks when my wife and I get a computer, I'll have aim access and I will be able to get you my aim name. Please let me know if this is acceptable. My hands are kind of tied here and I'll do what I can to help. I'm doing all I can to become available for the draft, I don't like this slow stuff anymore
than any of you do but please understand that I have no control over my work schedule.

To Perfect Keeper Leaguers:
This is none of my business, but if it will help, I'd volunteer to be a surrogate picker for kbridges. If he doesn't mind and you guys don't mind, I could step in where ever needed. I'm pretty sure I have a better than average amount of baseball knowledge. kbridges could then run the team.

Draft Schedule
We will be slow drafting until next Tuesday night. Tuesday night kbridges3 is available to stay on until we finish the draft. I am assuming everyone can be online for awhile that night to finish the draft up. I have an exam until 10:30 EST therefore the draft can not start before that time. Currently wiggs can not give me a defininite yes, but he is going to try hard.
Hopefully by slow drafting for the next five days, we will be able to knock out 10-15 rounds (if everyone continues to check frequently). That will leave us with 15-20 rounds to draft in 3 hours next Tuesday night. I think this is very feasable and would get the draft finished before the season starts. Put this date in your books and make it a priority, because this will be our last chance to finish the draft.
Everyone, please calm down. We are all anxious to get this draft done, but the more excited everyone is, the more stressed your commissioner is and I can tell you its not fun. I am trying my hardest to make everything go smoothly. The last thing I need is to be pressured into making a decision I will regret down the road. Worst case scenario is we do not get the draft finished before opening day. Even if this happens, I see no harm done by starting the season with the players we have currently drafted. Then after each round is completed, I will add those players to your roster.

AP10, i will make my pick in as timely of a fashion as i can. one advantage i have is picking on the end so i wont be holding it up very often. Good job with trying to keep this thing running. We all appriciate it.

Nice job, way to handle it. But I think you are on crack if you think we can do 10-15 rnds of draft by Tuesday, because at a pace like this we won't see the light of rnd 20. ;-) But if everyone shows up on Tuesday night we should be fine.

TaRhEElKiD, we've drafted 3 rounds the past 2 days. That is 1.5 rounds per day. Even if we can get a 33% improvement and bump that up to 2 rounds per day, that would get us 10 rounds over the next 5 days. I figure over the weekend, things SHOULD speed up some, and hopefully we can draft 2.5-3 rounds per day on Saturday & Sunday. If this were to happy, we would then be around 12-13 rounds over the next 5 days.

Sorry guys he never mentioned that his time was this limited. I'm sorry I am out for tommorrow night, my buddy just called, I get to see MJ tommorrow night. First half, in the luxury sweet second half third row behind the bench. I got extremely lucky that he called me before he found out that MJ played tonite. I just have to brag about this.
Another option to our problem is to move kbridges in draft order, so that he picks back to back either first or last. I am willing to switch and I bet beebop would as well. Of course this is a commish call
Next Tuesday doesn't work for me, no access out of town, but I can leave a que with rockafellashank and let him use his discresion. I don't know if thk and wiggs will be available tommorrow morning. I know bossman has a meeting for a couple hours in the morning, and he will only get his pick in if kbridges gets his in early. All is well and I guess no one really wanted ramirez or chavez, maybe at the end of the draft?

Look, as you all read in my email to ap10, it looked like we would get rained out last night, didn't happen, I can't help it. I know you are all pissed, I'm sorry I can't help it. Here is what I've done if it will help, I have cancelled my games tonight so I should be able to start at 8 pm CST time tonight. I called our booking agent and told him something came up and I could not umpire tonight. If you are all agreeable to this we can get it done tonight, Thursday March 21. It is unfortunate that when I'm available most of you are not and when most of you are I'm not. I've made it pretty clear that the only internet access I have is here at work. I can't help it that I don't have a computer at home yet. Please be a little understanding here. AP10 I really do appreciate the job that you do and all the hardwork you have done to make this work. Since none of you think I have any commitment to this league, I've cancelled $100 worth of umpiring, I don't if any of you need the money but my family does, oh well one night won't kill us. Please be understanding with the time schedule. I can do it tonight or Tuesday night, whichever is better for the rest of you. One thing, I appreciate rockerafellskank saying he would draft for me, however this would be unacceptable. I'm not going to manage some team that I have not drafted, just as I would not expect any of you to do. If we want to get this out of the way and get things back to normal so we can actually enjoy baseball season, lets quit the bitching and draft. I don't get mad at all of you when we have to wait during the day, so I just ask for the same courtesy from all of you when I don't have access at night. kbridges i understand where you are coming from...however, would you want to leave a que to someone so when everyone is available and you are not we have a list of players so when it is ur turn we do not all have to wait?? just an opinion...

kbridges, I understand you are busy. I have no problem with you not being here all the time. All i asked was yesterday that you leave a 1 man queue with me and left you my email and you didnt respond and you didnt email me a queue, so obviously you refused to do it and because of that we accomplished 9 picks in 1 hour and nothing for like 16 hours. We will never finish at this pace. As for tonight I will be going home after class because my spring break starts tonight and I am going out to dinner with my family and I probably and I have a meeting with my landlord to move into my new apartment so I will be busy with that. I can make no promises about being here at 10. I will do my best to be here by 11 or 1130. I would leave a queue, but i am like 16 picks away and i am not leaving a 20 man queue with anyone. Maybe if some picks get done this afternoon i will have a shot at leaving one, if not, I will pick later.

I didn't ignore anything you sent, I just didn't see it until this morning. If we can't do it tonight then the only other night I have before opening day is next Tuesday. People in this league need to stop assuming things before they go out posting stuff about someone and have no clue as to what they are talking about. I will say this one more time for everyone here to see and so they can know it once and for all:

1) you posted 1 minute before i posted about the queue, i assume that you must have seen that.
2) Your feel sorry for me attitude isnt doing any good for the rest of us. We know you dont have web access from home, you have told us a million times. You probably shouldnt have signed into a draft if you knew you couldnt participate. I have stuck up for you all this week, but i make one comment about you not leaving a queue, which you should do every day, and you jump down my throat and tell me i need to stop assuming. I assume nothing, I know for a fact i asked you to leave a queue and you left. If you didnt see it then that is because you are rude and left in the middle of me talking to you. Either way, you were wrong.

Believe what you will, I did not see your post until this morning. If you are all aware that I don't have a computer at home, then quit the bitching. I'm not trying to make anybody feel sorry for me, I'm simply stating facts. If the rest of the league wants to draft then draft. I'll say this one time: If everyone in the league wants me gone so bad because I can't meet each and every night to do a draft, then I'll leave if all of the other 9 managers vote that way. I have never guaranteed to be online except for Monday night, which I was here and then again tonight,which I will be here for that. On Tuesday and Wednesday night I said there may be a chance but I might not make it, too damn bad. So if you want to draft I'll be ready tonight or Tuesday night, otherwise quit bitching and lets play ball!!!

I know, I can't make a pick without a computer to do it with, I check right before I leave work and as soon as I get here in the mornings. I only guaranteed to be here on Monday, and I was. I only said I would try to be here on Tuesday and Wednesday, there is nothing I can do about that. I am again guaranteeing to be here tonight. If that is acceptable, fine, if not lets figure out what to do next. I can be here over the weekend also, just name a time. I really don't see why the argueing is continueing. Let's just forget about the last two nights, there is nothing that can be done about them now. I am making a commitment to do what it takes to get this thing done tonight, on the weekend or next tuesday night, if we all want to play ball then lets get it done, I never meant to make any of you mad with my schedule. I've done the best I can over the next few days to make myself available to all of you to finish this draft. I realize that all of you blame me for not having finished this yet, I don't agree with all of that blame but who cares, are we gonna bitch or play ball???

kbridges, thank you. I am not asking you to leave a 10 man queue, just 1 or 2 so we can get about 10 more picks done a night. That way you dont have to worry about some one taking your guy. Is that what you are afraid of with leaving a queue? If so I understand because i left a long queue with someone when i couldnt be here on a weekend and the person stole my pick and it was obvious because they took Robert person and they took him way to early. That is why i dont like to leave queues either, but if you leave a small one, 1 or 2 men and you give it to someone on the other side of the draft you have nothing to worry about. Just my opinion.

I would rather not to the draft tonight due to me seeing MJ playing and have kbridges missing out on $100, Lets put it in stone now. Lets finish it next Tuesday. I will not be here but Rockerfellashank or whatever his name is can finish my team. It is not a huge deal. I agree with wiggs leaving a 1-3 man que is not a big deal. I still don't understand why leaving a que is so hard kbridges. I understand that you only have access during the day. Thk only left one que unfortunately but with the way the draft has been going how was he to know that he was going draft so soon again. Even when drafting, i believe managers we start double thinking ourselves. I'll bet I could have waited on a certain player for another rd. I will suggest again that I will switch picks with you kbridges for the rest of the draft if needed.
Beebop any interst in a trade for Cedeno, since everybody knows you wanted him. Maybe switch some picks.

Enjoy MJ, it should be a treat, I've already lost the money, the booking agent already put another ump on the games, oh well. I will check the draft before I leave tonight but I will be online anyway. I will also check all day tomorrow and occasionally on Sat. and Sunday. If it looks like one of my picks may be coming up then I will leave a 1-2 man que with wiggs for that pick. I hope that helps everyone out a little.
