Posted by: Species
- Dude [07724916] Wed, Feb 28, 2007, 18:04

We might as well continue discussions here.

As everyone knows, our draft order has been set as follows:

Final draft order

1. Da Bomb
2. MBT
3. Cobwebs
4. C1-NRB
5. loki
6. Weykool
7. Smith32
8. aa
9. Andrew
10. Slackjawed Yokel
11. ksoze
12. Toral
13. JeffG
14. Species
15. darkside
16. JL

Draft Start Date: I am leaning towards March 7th to be ahead of RIBC.....so unless you hear from me to the contrary, assume that I will open the draft on Kafenatid on March 6th (12pm ET-ish) with the clock starting March 7th at 9am ET.

Just an FYI, but my wife is trying to schedule a family vacation and the two options are March 10-17 or March 31-April 7. I'm pushing for the later date, but I have no power in my family ;) As soon as I know the exact dates I'll let you all know and make appropriate arrangements with a DP.

With Toral back online, is there any reason we can't open the draft now (and start the clock on Wed as scheduled)? If I can get a pick or two in before I leave Wednesday morning, it will be easier for me to finish my queue and instructions for allhair, who has graciously volunteered to be my DP while I am away.

Thanks.

It's official, I'm going to be gone March 11-19 but the good news is that we're going somewhere with internet access (at least part of the time). I'll find someone to cover for me but I agree with Smith open this up as soon as possible and start the clock on Wed.

I'm okay with that, but this is coming out of left field for most of the league.....and I can't guarantee nor insist that every manager push forward right away.

I'll send an email to the entire league to inform them.

Note:

- We will have a draft thread. So please post your pick in that thread as well as make it on Kafenatid
- We will have a rationale thread. JeffG has stupidly volunteered to use his moderator powers to cut and paste past due rationales.
- Draft will open early but clock will not start until Wednesday at 9am ET as scheduled.

Answer was: so other Gurupies not on Kafenatid could follow it - but it doesn't matter to me.

I trashed it....we'll stick to Kafenatid.

BTW - I was most concerned about Toral, having been without access and mentioning in another league that he hadn't done much prep work yet. But after explaining that we're hoping to bang out a round or two before some guys take off, he'll get up to speed enough for now and should be able to get 2 rounds in, hopefully before Wednesday.

You can use the following URL to track this draft:
http://rotoguru1.com/cgi-bin/kpeek.pl?135

It shows the picks in sequential order, and also shows the grid (at the bottom) - all on the same page.

Guys- I've got an all day business trip tomorrow - some touchy-feely employee satisfaction garbage (really I think it would help employee satisfaction if we didn't have to drive for 6 hours to meet up with the rest of our organization...). I'll put a queue together for my first pick but would prefer to make my own second round pick when I get back tomorrow night.

C1 picked.

Remember, this came way out of the blue so it would not surprise me to see people caught off guard. Our goal would be to squeeze in 2 rounds before Wednesday so Smith can at least pick his first 2 guys, which would have a significant affect on the management of his queue.

Thanks to all for the flexibility.

Actually, I never got a notice to my primary e-mail address. I had problems last year, as my mail-server treated Kafenatid as spam. Don't know if it's the same problem this year.
But I did get a message to my secondary e-mail address which is to my cell. Got interupted during my game of tennis, nearly lost, had to hurry home to pick;-)

Last year, schmlast year! Beating me didn't get you anywhere but a return ticket - big deal! You're going down dude!

I *might* have interest in trading down in Round 2 to somewhere in the 7 to 11 range. Those picking in round 1 spots 8 to 12 ish is probably where I might be interested in doing it. This is obviously dependent upon who is available at my pick.....but I wanted to throw the possibility out there now so as not to slow things up.

So from aa to Toral if you could have interest, let me know.

Suck??? Easy Prey??? BTW, I finished 9th in RIBC last season. Even with all things being equal, you finished 9th in PCL last season. I see you had previously finished 13th in your last RIBC 'majors' appearance, while I was 5th in my previous visit to AAA. Man, before the draft I mapped out the first round and I decided their was a big drop off after 7 guys, and as it happens...When it was time for me to pick the highest available choice was 9 so I risked it. What do you know, 6 went in the top 7 picks...With that said, I think I might be wanting to try to move down in the 1st round in order to move up in the 2nd, if anyone is interested. Unless you want to give up Utley for my pick and move up next round, Smith?

The draft is cruising this evening. I made Species (who will select right before me) my DP and left a 5 player queue and designated it as available. If it gets back to my slot tonight, Species can administer my 2.04 pick immediately after posting his own 2.03. If it does not get back to me, I'll take him off in the AM and probably waffle a few more times and pick myself tomorrow.

Random On the Clock DP question. If my queue is in 'unavailable' mode, will it still email the DPers? I'd make everyone except JL my DP right now but I don't want everyone to get the email all the time because I won't very often need a DP, but probably will at some point.

So, can I set up DPers and just make my queue unavailable to keep them from getting the email...or should I pose this question to KKB?

I'm pretty sure how you described it is how it works. I think that was a change KKB made last year, so that you could just switch the DP option on or off, without having to add and remove DPs if you didn't want them to get an email...

BTW - as per usual RIBC custom, we'll post rationales two rounds in arrears, so when 3.01 gets picked, that manager should also go and make their rationale.

JeffG has a rationales thread....but instead of burdening him unnecessarily, if you are ready you can post yours yourself. Obviously we do intend to keep it in order to use placeholders if any previous managers are tardy.

Just a quick request... Anyone who makes me a DP should remove me from being their DP when I am not needed. Because I set up On the Clock so I get a text message when it is my turn to pick, I also get one when anyone who has me as DP is up. It's fine if I'm needed, I'll be glad to keep the draft moving, but if it is not needed for a specific round, please take me off.

I am in this league, and an office league, and I had a huge cell bill last year with all the text messages I received. (then again, this year I will not have blue hen sending me 'where R we?' or 'who was just picked' several times a day which will also keep the message count down).

I was looking at the Pause Clock at the bottom of our Draft Homepage. The way it's currently set, it will be on "pause" from 8:00 am one day until 7:00 am the next day; meaning it will only be "un-paused" for the hour between 7:00 am and 8:00 am.

I'm sure you meant 8:00 pm.

Now that we are drafting, I would like to remind everyone of our Designated Picker Protocol:
=========================================
Designated Picker Protocol:

I think it would be helpful to consider these commandments before making any picks:

1 - Check your email for any specific instructions from that team - i.e. their queue could have been for "Round X only" and we'll need to give them time to readjust their queue.

2 - Check the board for posts about their queue, or other instructions relevant to that team's wishes

3 - Absent that, it is then the responsibility of the particular owner to have an updated queue ready and also to manage your DP's. If you do not designate that a queue is for a particular round only and someone picks from an available queue, it's on you.

That being said, if nobody else has picked and a manager wishes to change a pick made by someone else, I would likely allow it. But if the draft continues you are likely ****-out-of-luck.
==========================================

So there is a responsibility placed on the Designated Picker to check email and the board before making a pick. But if no instructions to the contrary are given, it is the manager's responsibility to be in charge of their queue and DP's. No cries of "but I didn't realize it would get back to me" ...... or "I wasn't ready for round 5" will hold much water.

I emailed KKB to double check about when OTC emails managers set as DPers. Here's the reply:

"I double-checked the code and it does NOT send emails when your queue is unavailable. It actually checks both that your queue is available and/or that free-form entry is available before sending an email."

So go ahead and set up Designated Pickers and just be aware of when your queue is available!

Good work guys....at least Smith32 got two picks in (making a big trade) and probably had an 'easy' round 3 queue before he took off.

Keep in mind that Smith32 obviously won't be doing rationales so if allhair can include placeholders in the rationale thread each round (since he's picking next to him anyway) that would be great. I put a placeholder in for Weykool as I believe he has stated he has no access from work so keep that in mind for the rationale thread.

[77] I agree. I went about 3 different ways on my 2.04 pick and had my pick been an hour ealier, or the next morning, I would have picked differently.

I took advise Guru had posted on the RIBC board and started drafting rationales about the players I was considering to see which ones had less compelling arguments.

The hard drive on my 5 year old computer crashed yesterday necessitating reformatting and reinstalling Windows XP. The computer is acting up again tonight, and it looks like it is ready to crash again. When I am in my office, I should not have a problem, but I am apologizing in advance for possible delays at home. I ordered a new Dell today and should have it in about a week; in the interim I may be able to borrow a laptop from my daughter if mine goes down again.

loki - I was in a similar boat as you - I just ordered a new computer from Dell a week and a half ago - took only four days to get here... today I got an enclosure for my old hard-drive to see if I can salvage the files off of it. When it was apparent the motherboard was going out, I backed everything up on a new external drive that promptly went kaput when my computer did.

Sorry, won't mention names next time. Any other rules of etiquette I should be aware of so I don't ruffle any feathers?

The only other rule that you need to be aware of is to not comment about certain postions.
comments like:
"Looks like the run on ___ (pos)has now started".
Or
"After player XYZ there aren't any other players at that position worth drafting".

Just try to leave it up to each manager to figure out what is happening in the draft and dont make any comments that could have even the slighest influence.

My queue at the time was Giambi, Wells, Thome. Giambi won out cause I think/hope he's finally healthy and will have a big year--maybe even near 1.000 OPS. I really liked Wells too. Adding the SB to his power and counting stats would have had him first had I not had Vlad.

What's funny about my already taking so many Yankees is that I almost never do. Giambi last year in Puget Sound was the first Yankee I'd ever drafted. The way guys fell to me made them seem like the best choices.

Giambi will surely do fine this year, we may see his best numbers in pinstripes yet, especially now that he is going to be for the most part a full-time DH and batting cleanup between Abreu and ARod.

I usually do not end up with too many Yankees. In my office league my league mates just over-value them and pick them way earlier than I think they should go, and in RIBC I tend to convince myself that I am not thinking un-biased.

I don't think I want him bad enough to do your 5th and 7th for my 5th and 6th, though. But, if you're targeting someone you think may fall a bit, your next pick after that would only be 3 away!

It's really contingent on whether or not the guy I want is still available by the time it gets to your pick (I assume that's a normal request...I've never made an in-draft trade before).

Can we agree in principle here and then if my guy is still there maybe Species can work some sort of commish magic making it so I can pick in your slot? I don't even know how trading picks works in OTC.

Then if Weykool isn't around (and dude, I hope you left a queue because you would time out before getting home from work) I can make the choice and input the trade.

Thanks for checking in. I was about to determine whether or not you got any extra time being on the end before we skipped both picks.

It does beg the question though - you don't check your email or this draft basically the entire day? Or, at a minimum, once during the day??

Admittedly you had made your 4th round pick last night at 649pm, so for it to get back to you 30 picks later at 158pm the next day is exceptionally fast. Still, I would like to think that checking once or twice during the day, no matter how far away it is, is reasonable.

There is no need to add extra time at the end of rounds before you skip both picks.

I didn't have access to the internet during the day today. I checked the draft at 7:40 CST this morning and saw that there were 16 picks to be made before mine. I have never seen 16 picks made in a 6-hour span of time in an RIBC draft. Based on that, I decided not to leave a 18-man queue.

We have a 6 hour clock in this draft to guard against these unexpected situations. I apologize for taking 5 of those 6 hours. I know how irritating it can be for everyone when one person slows down the entire draft. With that said, I don't have a history of being a slow drafter, so this probably won't happen again.

I was away all day without access, and it looks like I came back at just the right time. This has been a very smooth draft, so far.

You can't believe how happy I am that Lyle Overbay was still available, from my queue. For the reason, see my Lackey rationale, when it comes around to that. I would tend to agree with anyone who pointed out that if you are concerned whether Lyle Overbay has been drafted or not, you've probably had a bad draft. Nevertheless this makes my day.

Depending on how fast we go tonight, I might possibly hold things up with my next pick, as I have a lot of list catching-up to do, I have keepers to declare and last-minute trades to try to pull off in another league, I am probably going to bed early, and my draft strategy is very confused.

Toral - congrats on getting the guy you wanted after the long turn. I thought Overbay was being very undervalued in this draft...one set of projections puts him on higher ground, and I think you did well.

I'd like to encourage you, however, to perhaps take the break between your 8th and 9th pick to organize your thoughts. With only 8 total picks between your 7th and 8th it will go fast, and it will be back upon you pretty quickly.

Dumbass. Haren stuck out like a sore thumb. It's not like Valverde is so much better than any other risky closer that JL could have conceivably taken!

That large splash you heard at pick 8.03 was me taking a HUGE plunge. Think Leonard Davis (Cowboys OT) belly flop off the 3 meter board kind of plunge.

I thought I heard something over the din of McDonald's Playland.

All the SPs taken in this run, and it definitely qualifies as a run, were on my board when I picked at 7.04 I think I should start looking another direction now; AAA is a tougher draft than AA, for sure.

I am here, but do not expect a quick pick. I am 4 rounds behind in some list updating, and 2 rounds behind in others. My draft strategy is non-existent. I was away today and have fallen behind.

I am honouring everyone's desire for a quick pick by working through this now, when I could easily, easily...well there's no weekend draft pause, so I have no choice. Hmm. Anyway, I am making a point of droning through this stuff immediately, i.e., coming to a conclusion tonight, when my impulse is to forget baseball for a day and/or hit the sack. I might be able to make a pick within 2 hours or even 1 hour, when I should be catching ZZZZZZZZZZZZZs. But don't be refreshing the page every 5 minutes.

My use of the "catch up, pause and mull" allowance of the draft framework will be rare, no more than once every 7 rounds ;), maybe this will be the only time. I'm generally a pretty fast drafter.

Species,
I'm going to unexpectedly out of pocket for most of the day and evening, with a short window in the afternoon. Smith32 sent me instructions last night regarding his queue that I didn't get until this morning, and I'm not sure when he's going to be able to get back to me, but I may be gone by then.

Are you (as the Kafenatid draft organizer) able to make picks for others? I forget if you'd have that ability or not... Or at least, might you be able to post his pick here when it comes up? I'm emailing him instructions to email you with his picks... unless he can make his own picks (which would be the easiest solution)...

allhair #179 - the answer is YES. As Commish and organizer of the kafenatid draft, I can see all queues so long as one is there and is AVAILABLE. Note that this does not show me the WHOLE queue if you only make the top player available to see, so I don't get any advantage there.

I got Smith's email and made the picks.....and obviously saw allhair's queue too.

To all: obviously we are making excellent progress - thanks to everyone for their consideration in making their picks and preparing their queues. I have to admit I like the feeling of a smooth flowing draft - somehow it just feels more natural. However, over the weekend it will be okay if a few hours tick off between picks - it won't kill us.

I will be out from 10:00am - 2:30pm Pacific Time....so play nice while I'm gone.

Leveraging off of C1's commentary during the draft, not only do the rationales get more interesting but so do the picks. In the first 6 or 7 rounds or so, you have a pretty decent idea of who will go where, at least within a half round or so. Here in round 9, it gets more and more diverse.

I'd like to compliment the league on an excellent draft so far. We've had minimal delays and overall it's had a good flow. Thanks to everyone.

I'd also like to express how competitive this draft is, too. Outside of 1 or 2 big reaches (IMO), all in all I believe all managers are on top of their game, have valid draft strategies and players really aren't slipping like they can.

We are only 40% complete in our draft if you can believe that! You have to love how deep this draft goes. Every team still has some holes. It's fascinating to me the differing strategies - from early position scarcity (but at the cost of SLG and RBI?) to waiting on either RP, SP or MI...it's all over the board.

In the end, IMO, it's still the manager that does best from Round 10 on that wins. Injuries in your first 7 picks will kill you, but for the most part those early picks will not make your season, you have to find hidden gems to really win.....geez looking at my team I sure hope that's the case! lol

Moderately surprised to see Hill and Hamels go so early. I love them but with nary a full year under their belts, should be interesting to see how they do. Compared to some of the vets available, those were interesting, but with great upside. Of course I wanted them too - just didn't have the wherewithal to take 'em when they did....although I did seriously consider Hamels in Round 10.

**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT**

It pains me to announce that I will be removing C1-NRB from the league. He has violated my recently-indoctrinated rule that you may not take my top rated players that I expected to make it back to me next round. Scott Olsen was mine. Sorry....you'll be missed.

In other news, I am leaving in the morning for Spring Training. I will be gone through Saturday. I have designated JeffG, allhair and darkside as replacement Commissioners in my absence. They will have the authority to administer stuff at Kafenatid or handle any league issues. They will also be in contact with me when it's my pick and I will either give them my pick or have them post on the board when I will be able to make my pick.

If you have any questions, catch me before tonight.

Thanks loki, you stole a few players that I wanted also. There are no secrets in this league, like Species said, all managers are on top of their game. Every turn is a nail biter hoping that targeted players are not taken, it’s frustrating at times, but I enjoy the competition.

Hahahaha - damn you loki! loki is such a mischievious figure in lore, too. Bastard!

And loki - Broxton was on my radar too. Shame on me for going "safe" with Garcia instead of sticking to my guns and not taking the guys I really wanted :(

BTW, I would really like to make the turn tonight before I go. Unfortunately, Weykool will not have a queue available so we're in the 6pm PT timeframe for him to make a pick. So if those after Weykool can be ready later today/early tonight to bang out the 2nd half of round 12, I would appreciate it.

Andrew - saw your Hill rationale. I didn't say Hill was a huge reach. To quote:

Moderately surprised to see Hill and Hamels go so early.

...while true that was right after I said something about "outside of 1 or 2 big reaches" a couple of posts before, I don't consider Hill one of them. Only compared to some of the more established pitchers available I was mildly surprised to see him taken at that pick.

I think he's rock solid with tons of upside.....I just wonder if taking him this year is 1 year too early.

I think the way I phrased my comment came out a little harsh sounding. My first sentence kind of made you sound like a jerk... which is ridiculous when considering what you actually said. I wasn't thinking about that as I wrote it or anything, it just kind of came out wrong. Sorry if I put words in your mouth. I was mostly trying to put my pick in context I think. I wasn't taking offense to your comment, on the contrary I was actually thinking you had a good point. Some of that post may have been rationalizing the pick to myself a bit ;) I just assumed you meant it was one of the 1 or 2 big reaches.

I'll be the first to admit that he'll probably be better in '08 then '07. Picking him in the 9th was just a risk I was willing to take, because I thought he had a good enough chance to be spectacular that I would take the worst case scenario. Now that I have 5 pitchers through only 13 rounds though, I think I probably could have afforded to do things differently. Another reason I took him so early is because I knew I wanted lots of players who would go in rounds 10-13, so I had to decide which ones would fall and who I needed to take early. A trade for extra 10th and 11th round picks might have helped.

Anyways, have fun on your trip.

Got delayed on departure. Happened to be here for my pick and now I have set up a queue for Round 16 only. Any designated picker can go ahead and process the round 16 pick. If by some miracle it gets to me in round 17 before late tonight, I'll need time to adjust the queue.

I wonder if it's because the early excitement has worn off or that it's just harder to dig deep for those late-round gems, but the pace has slowed.....but we are still in outstanding shape so again, props to everyone for keeping the draft at a reasonable pace. Of course, since I'm gone all day I don't agonize over a 3-hour delay on a pick! ;-)

I posted earlier that my computer crashed, and I would be buying a new computer. I posted the following on the computer forum, but I thought that some of the managers would find this interesting:

I just purchased a Dell Inspiron laptop, and as of now I have spent over 10 hours trying to resolve problems with the machine. The first session was to enable me to connect to the Internet wirelessly. After a number of hours the incompetent tech managed to resolve the problem and we went on to the next issue. I also purchased a Dell wireless printer and Dell wireless adapter. I was unable to install either the printer or the wireless adapter and asked for tech support. After a long time the tech realized that the CD shipped with the computer did not have Vista compatible drivers for the printer, and he had to download the Vista drivers in order to install the printer.
The tech then spent hours trying to install the wireless adapter and when he was unable told me I had to call a special printer help number. This number was only Dell's main telephone number. The following day I called back and after the usual long time on hold was connected to a tech who told me he couldn't help me but would transfer me to the wireless department. The tech at the wireless department after a long period of time determined that there were NO drivers that could connect this wireless adapter to a Vista machine. The tech also was unable to get my Palm blue tooth to be discovered by the laptop. Dell also sold me a Logitech blue tooth mouse that was incompatible with the touch pad and could not be installed. I am a relatively patient person, but after about 10 hours on the phone with Dell tech support I decided I wanted to return the machine and buy a Mac. Dell has a 21 day return policy but the small print states that the customer must pay for the returns unless there is a problem with the product. The supervisor who I was on the telephone with said he would contact customer care himself so that I would have no problems returning the machine and would have no problems with Dell paying the shipping costs(which are substantial). At this point after 134 minutes on the telephone with this particular tech support number I was disconnected!! I feel that I should be able to do a commercial for Apple.

From Toral's 7.12 Lyle Overbay rationale

... I came to admire the sagacity of whoever decided to wait and go for Conor Jackson, who could be comparable to Overbay this year. He eventually went 5 rounds later (jeffg, 12.04)...

From dictionary.com...

sa·gac·i·ty /səˈgæsɪti/ [suh-gas-i-tee]

Just as a heads up, I noticed my 24th pick Matt Lindstrom, and Cobwebs 23rd pick Dustin Hermanson are not listed in the Yahoo database. I have the same issue with my office league that I commish.

You will have to load placeholders (Keith Foulke is retired and Kris Benson out for year are good ones). Then when Yahoo adds them, we'll be sure to notify you so you can remove their initial waiver period and process the roster move.

Of course, we will not get credit for any stats those unlisted players accrue while they are unlisted.

After dealing with a ton of 1st half injuries I came up from 15th to top 3-4 and then ended at 6 after Kazmir got hurt in AAA International. My 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th round picks were all disasters to various degrees. Kazmir, Bedard, Swisher and Hawpe all were steals though IMHO.

What fun this is...!

I had two RIBC AA teams last year... If memory serves, I believe this team was in first place for a long portion of the season before falling to third place in the late summer... Getting Young/Utley on the turn was a huge coup in my mind, but Young didn't really pan out the way he was supposed to. Otherwise I really love the first 7 picks. Can't believe I took Pedro Feliz in the 10th round... (LOL), but I think this draft was fairly solid (but not without holes) through the 20th. Even my Corey Patterson pick actually worked out!

My second team: Fueled in part by Teixeira's disasterous first half, this team settled in pretty low in the standings until it managed to meander itself into another third place finish. I was pretty proud of this team since it started out pretty poorly but made huge jumps through the 2nd half of the season (when huge jumps aren't really supposed to happen).

Species - I assume you know, but you won't be able to release the draft until those guys are filled in. I noticed Guru has come up w/ some placeholders:

Keith Foulke
Kris Benson
Josh Kinney
Glendon Rusch
Davis Romero
Francisco Liriano

Not sure how many we've got, but that's a start.

darkside - I entered the draft and it noted that four teams did not have 25 players....I went ahead and finished it anyway. I think they will just have an open spot right now.

I was able to view my team (you have to click on tomorrow's date to see your players) and make lineup changes, so I assume it works.

Oh, and obviously please check the accuracy of my entries. You may have received Frank Francisco instead of Francisco Rodriguez, or the like. I actually had to flip-flop JD and Stephen Drew after inadvertantly giving one player to the wrong team. I hurried through it and tried to be accurate but I could have erred.

Props to Yahoo's interface.....it makes entry a snap with it's ability to auto-finish the player's name. THANK YOU, Yahoo.

My team is perfect too. I like the Yahoo commish tool this year, it took about a third of the time as it did for me to load my other league compared to last season. Still, it is still effort and thanks to Species for stepping up and handling the work. Also thanks for laying out the $10.00 for the draft to Kafenatid.net. Since I am sure he does not want my check for my $0.63 share of that, I made a donation to Guru instead (a slight bit more than $0.63).

As our unlisted players become available, we'll send Species a note to use his commissioner function to edit those players waiver date (to yesterday if he can) so we can pick them up without waiting 3 days or losing our waiver priority. If anyone of us fill that unlisted player's opening with a different player, we are waiving our rights to have first dibbs on the unlisted player we drafted.

I see there is a new method for us to edit our rosters this year. It is all drag-and-drop instead of those drop-down boxes with the positions next to each player. But we have to remember to click on *SUBMIT CHANGES*. I'm sure a few of us will screw it up once or twice this season. Yahoo does give you the option of using the 'Classic Edit Roster' instead of the new one.

If you guys get a chance, check out Guru's RIBC consolidated draft summary. It's interesting to see where other guys went during the draft. If you wondered whether or not you "reached", you can find your answer there. It has a "min" pick (i.e. earliest that player was taken) and a "max" pick (being the latest they were taken) along with an average.

If you were FIRST to pick compared to the other 4 RIBC drafts, then yeah you have to worry. Conversely, if you snagged someone later than all the rest, you feel good. I'm both guilty of 'reaching' early and grabbing late:

Picked before all other RIBC drafts:
Scott Rolen
Freddy Garcia
Anibal Sanchez
Pat Neshek

Picked after all other RIBC drafts:
Ian Kisler
Dave Roberts
Jim Edmonds
Kerry Wood

I don't feel too bad about Rolen and Neshek as Rolen would've been gone one pick later as well as Neshek. Can't defend Garcia too much other than me liking his WHIP and hoping the whole "From AL to NL" BS works out.

Still, interesting to review.

JeffG - you can go ahead and release Jorge Sosa if you'd like and leave the spot open for Sammy.
