I'm pleased to announce that long-time gurupie Brooklyn (if he even uses that moniker anymore) has filled the TBA position.
Get those draft lists prepared. The draft room will be opening up on Saturday, but without a time limit until Monday.
AND ... just because there is a 6-hour limit, that doesn't mean that you should use it all. Especially during prime-time hours. Learn how to use that nifty queue feature, and make sure to MAKE IT AVAILABLE. Thanks.
And for those drafting #1 and #12 ... you DON'T get a 12-hour clock!

No. The draft has to be started to start working on queue lists.
I'll go ahead and start the draft in just a bit. You can pick if you want, but I'm not going to encourage it.
Code - I just need to re-check the settings, and set the draft order. Give me about 1/2 an hour to get it all processed.

I've gone ahead and started the draft, so that people can play with the queue list.
But for some reason, it skipped Jackhammers at 1.01, and started the draft at 1.02. Weird. I will contact KKB and get it fixed soon.

Apparently I suck at making sure the settings are correct. All major leaguers appear, even though I remember clicking AL-only.
KKB will get it fixed soon I'm sure.
Don't be adding Pujols or Howard to your queue! It wouldn't be prudent.

Yes. It appears we are underway. ARod goes #1. Mudville 9 can pick any time he wants. No rush. The 9th pick (Greggo Romans) is in Mexico for two more days.
As for the NL players listed, I don't really suck at checking settings. It's just my memory that sucks. As per a KKB email "As for AL-only players, there's no option for that with the software at the moment. Sorry."
So don't pick an NL player. If you do, I'll have to figure out how to cancel a transaction, and let you pick again. Hopefully this is something I won't have to learn. ;-)

I'm a pretty active drafter, so I don't mind if anyone wants to make me a designated picker (mullenta).
Jeter was someone I thought might make it down to me. I appreciate you crushing that dream, Tosh. I'm pretty sure the other guy I want won't make it to me, especially since Dave R is right before me...I don't see my guy making it past him. Ah, the fun of drafting--so enjoyable and so frustrating!

I'm a big fan of Jeter, and he's always good for ticket sales. That's a category, right?
It was between Jeter and (probably) the other player you were thinking of, but I just drafted him in a different league this morning. I decided not to put all my eggs in one backet.

It took me awhile to find it too -
Batters need either 5 Games Started or 10 Games Played at a position to gain eligibility. Pitchers need 3 Starts to gain SP eligibility, 5 Relief Appearances to gain RP eligibility.
We really flew through that last round, so I am going to not select off Jackhammers queue, to give everyone a chance to reset their queues.

Jackhammers - Now that we've moved on a bit ... when I let you take your 6 hours on Tuesday, it was because I thought Chacin was an odd pick. He was a ways down my list. What do you know about him that I don't? Maybe there is a compelling reason to add him to one of my other teams.
I see no reason to stop the clock this weekend. We can keep it set at 6 hours. Anyone disagree?

Re: 34
lol, and You didn't think Zach Miner was an odd pick too? Chacin was at the end of a long list on my Q and I've just been unable to spend much time on it. Unable to accesss Kafenatid at all from work. Ive been loading up my Q as much as possible in the interest of keeping things moving, I would have loved to have been able to look at that pick but couldn't get back here in time. I think I missed by an hour or so. I appreciate the extra time afforded that day and don't hesitate to continue to take the Q's when they are there.
Alot of players in the Q are one's that I'm loading up as acceptable, I don;t always have time to order them the way I would like. I really didn;t think we were going to zip through two rounds that day betwwen morning and evening. Chacin had a pretty nice 2005, 200 innings and ERA under 4 which what I like to see from an American leaguer. Got hurt last year but is 27 years old and coming into his third season (and you know what they say about all that). Not the pick I would have made if I was here but I can live with it.

I'd say as commish that's your call.
He's been drafted in the other 2 drafts I'm in, but they're not AL only. But he's not NL or AL, he's nothing. I figured since he was in limbo that he could be drafted, but that's a risk since you may not get him if he stays w/ Houston. But if you've already advised other managers against getting him, I think it'd need to stand.
Personally, I'd like that a lot since I'll have the #1 priority.

I picked not to hold things up, and I guess if this was already discussed then.....
But I would say he is an unsigned free agent and belongs to no team or league and he should be able to be picked. The risk would be that he winds up in the NL.

Yeah, I kind of agree w/ Dave R.
Couldn't a similar argument be made against some of the minor league players picked. They're not in the AL either (even if affiliated w/ an AL team, they're not in the AL)? Don't know, just talking out loud. This is the only non-mixed league I've ever been in, so it's a new scenario for me. Whatever you think is best, Tosh, is fine with me.

I can certainly see arguments on each side. In my other AL-only league (of course it is much different as a keeper auction league) ... we use the most recent league-affiliation as the basis for eligibility. I guess I just mentally carried that rule over to this league. I consider minor leaguers eligible because they are AL-affiliated.
And since I had already spoken with 2 other managers about Clemens, he was off 3 of our radars. We'll leave Clemens to whomever is able to climb to that #1 waiver slot.
I have entered all the draft results into Yahoo. Please check them at the Yahoo site. There are several players that are not yet entered into the Yahoo database. I will check Yahoo for updates, and enter them onto your rosters ASAP. I will activate the league when this is completed for waiver transactions (and will notify you via email and this thread that we are activated). The missing players are -
Psychos 20.09 Josh Phelps OF NYY
philflyboy 15.07 Sammy Sosa OF TEX
GreggoRomans 17.09 Al Reyes RP TAM 22.04 Adam Miller SP CLE 23.09 Billy Butler OF KAN

It appears I will have to come up with 7 placeholders for the above listed players. Yahoo is certainly dragging their heels on a couple of them.
I've got these players on my list as placeholders. I cannot find any injured hitters. Suggestions?
3 hitters -
4 pitchers - Keith Foulke Kris Benson Francisco Liriano Davis Romero
The three lowest-ranked available hitters are back-up catchers (that do occasionally play). There are a number of minor leaguers also available that shouldn't be brought up until the ASB. Thoughts?

Draft has been released, and the league is activated. Waiver priorities have been set. All undrafted players are now subjeect to waiver claims.
Here are the seven placeholder substitutions I've made at Yahoo:
Al Reyes (RP TAM) => Keith Foulke Adam Miller (SP CLE) => Kris Benson Hideki Okajima (RP BOS) => Davis Romero Philip Hughes (SP NYY) => Francisco Liriano
Sammy Sosa (OF TEX) => Oswaldo Navarro Josh Phelps (OF NYY) => Mike Rabelo Billy Butler (OF KAN) => Hiram Bocachica
To preserve your claim on the missing player, you must wait until that player is listed at Yahoo, and then make the substitution. Do not use make a waiver claim to pick up the player, as this will change your waiver priority. Either wait until the player clears waivers, or (if you notice the player is on waivers), ask me to make the direct substitution.
If the substitute player is dropped before the missing player is available, then your priority claim on that player is forfeited.

Thanks.
Maybe we can work out a deal once I get Mora or Giambi off the DL...

We'll have to wait until morning for it to be official, but it appears that an exciting bottom of the 9th inning gives a semi-final victory to darkside of the moon via the ERA tiebreaker.
Pretty exciting stuff in the OBP category going into the bottom of the 9th inning - darkside .346, Hammers .345
Varitek walks darkside .349, Hammers .345
Ellsbury hbp darkside .349, Hammers .347
Pedroia walks darkside .352, Hammers .347
If Varitek or Pedroia gets out, AL Hammers would have won the week 6-4. Instead, it's a 5-5 tie and darkside wins the tiebreaker.
Now that we've had the first and only upset of the playoffs, it's time for a rematch of 2006. Darkside versus Tosh
Good luck to you darkside! Since we led the league (by a substantial amount) in transactions, I guess we should meet in the finals.

A painful finish for sure. A repeat of last year I think. Just way too many shellings this week from the starting pitchers. Good luck to you both.

ERA was the tiebreaker. Nice. I'd assumed maybe it was in season record vs. one another (which Jack Hammers won by a huge margin), but am glad it wasn't. Was sick all day yesterday so I didn't even realize until this morning that I'd moved on.
I'm really surprised I made it back to the finals. My draft was really bad (although I'm sure most of us can look back and critique our picks...): 1st round: Teixeira (poor first half then I lost him to the NL) 2nd round: Vernon Wells (absolutely terrible all year) 3rd round: Chris Ray (out for season with a couple months to go) 4th round: Giambi (hurt for a long time) 5th round: Jered Weaver (weak start, but overall not bad) 6th round: Bedard (my saviour until he got shut down for th year) 7th round: JD Drew (terrible all season) 8th round: Mora (about what I expected) 9th round: Podsednik (hurt/terrible all year, now benched). 10th round: Igawa (in minors most of season) 11th round: Sowers (in minors most of season) 12th round: Bartlett (excellent value) 13th round: Loewen (good until he got hurt a few months ago)
Cut all of the guys drafted in rounds 19-23 some time ago. Thank goodness for Pedroia, the waiver wire, Fausto Carmona (Thanks Tosh!!!), and Alan Embree?!?!

It took long enough, but I finally won the Puget Sound Fantasy League! It was a real battle versus darkside, but I was barely able to squeak it out.
Thanks to everyone that played, and stayed competitive all season. This was the first time I've ever played a 12-team AL-only league ... and I couldn't believe how hard it was to find viable players on the FA list.
My MVP this year ... Carlos Pena! Who would have ever thunk it?
I hope everyone will be back in 2008. I always enjoy the challenge of playing against the best ... and you guys fit that title.
Thanks again!

Congrats Tosh. I would never begrudge the commish a Ring. Just don't do it next year...
Thanks for putting it together every year.

Stupid Jim Thome and Carlos Pena. After that last round I have nothing good to say about those two. They picked a good time to go nuts!
Congrats, Tosh! You had a good draft and good FA pickups, so you certainly deserved to win. This was one of my favorite leagues. I really like H2H...it's like you're reborn with a clean slate every week. Certainly helps to keep the interest alive!

Congrats, Tosh. I enjoyed the format and learned a lot. My ignorance of the AL showed up in the standings, but it really helped me in my other leagues.

We're still looking for a 10th manager. As soon as that gets resolved, we'll open the draftroom.
Those first AL games won't be counting. The season starts for us that first Monday.
