I have no new issues or votes to bring to the table. If anyone has any issues they would like to bring to the table now would be the time. I think we've hit a nice groove as a group and look forward to another fun season.
Last year, using Kafenatid I don't remember exactly, but I think we finished drafting in about 5-7 days. It was really fast and there isn't any reason to believe it will be any different this season. With that being the case I think it would be a good idea to shoot for a mid to late March draft, instead of the early to mid draft we typically do. Every year it seems like someone breaks a leg 2 days after we finish drafting. We also seem to move quicker during the week so we may as well start on a Monday. I propose Monday March 17th for drafting. Let me know if everyone is ok with this date.
Again, I just wanted to start the thread, I really don't have much for now other than to declare the season has officially begun, trade away. I have uploaded all rosters. There I will also post all league specifics.

I don't understand the veto, but I will gladly hear you out.
Here is my side of this story. I've been trying to trade both Manny and Ortiz for over 2 seasons. Last year I tried making a deal with Y2JS and he declined preseason.
I have 10 or 11 keeper level players, I would never be able to hold all of them so I offered at least 3 teams very similar deals. I made it perfectly clear to many managers I was willing to overpay for younger talent, which is what I did.
My block or motivation hasn't changed one bit. I am giving up production for youth. I believe it is fair.

Also, while I was very reluctant at first, I will now say that Kafenatid rocks. It was so easy last season. The '07 draft was finished in under 4 days. I am not too concerned, we've been through this before and we know what we're doing. I wouldn't have a problem moving it back another few days if needed.

Lol, man we are burning it up this pre-season. I almost long for the days where we would've been on post 326 by now arguing about the keeper value of Adrian Beltre. And, no, I am not serious. We are now like an old married couple.
David, I am now living in Palm Harbor (man I just love saying that), which is a little east of Lakeland. Very drivable. Let me know which game your going to and I will try to fit it into my schedule. I was just talking to MITH about going to games the other day. I would go to any just to go.
This is just a reminder that 8 keepers are due by midnight Tuesday, March 18th. This is next Tuesday. The draft will begin as soon as I’m finished loading the players, which depending on my schedule will be sometime Wednesday or Thursday. We won’t start a clock until 8pm Thursday night. Peak hour clock has always been 1 hour, and remember with Kafenatid, one hour is exactly one hour. If you do not think you will be around, set a queue and a designated picker. People get skipped every year, and I personally would rather it never came to this. I am working from home full time now so I should be around most of the time day and night to push it on along should someone need my assistance. We’ve also had a loose 4 hour clock for weekend hours, which was 10a-10p (12p-12a?) or something like that.
Again, we want to keep it moving but we really do not want to skip anyone. If these clocks are a problem, speak now and we will try to find a way to make it work for everyone. We are starting about one-two weeks later this year so I would like everyone to focus as best as they can to move things along. I have my own business, I just moved into a house last week and I have a 5 month old baby, believe me I understand that we all have personal lives and they will get in the way because they are more important. I’m just saying try to stay focused if you can. Especially early on in the first few rounds, the faster we move the better. Last year the draft was under 4 days and if we have the same focus we will all be able to bang this baby out by the end of the weekend and get back to our regular lives quicker.
I echo what PD said, fast draft fellas, bring coffee and your cheat sheets, thermos optional.

I thought I was able to pull up all in season transactions from old leagues, but it doesn't seem to offer that anymore. They can tell you the draft order (all keeper rounds entered in no order), final rosters and league settings.

Stealth...again I request that Next Year. ..you consider changing to a straight draft. With eight keepers, teams at the top of the league have a decided advantage over the those at the bottom. A straight draft helps to neutralize that advantage. A snake draft accentuates the discrepency of talent year-in and year-out.Notice the change in standings between 2004 and 2005 (6 keepers) and then the lack of change between 2005-2006-2007

Not singling anyone out, this is to the league, regarding movement up and down:
MITH and I had a lengthy discussion about this issue this preseason. If I wasn't so bogged down, I was actually considering starting a whole new league with a completely different structure. I'm too busy for that now, but I am still planning on doing this.
For now, I've noticed that two teams have jumped from 6th to 2nd in the past 4 years, and all of the top 6 teams have been in the top 3 in that time. One of the other 4 was in Iraq and had a top team when he left, and was handed a nightmare when he returned.
It doesn't happen often, but it does. I am satisfied with this, pick well and you will jump. To me that is enough of a jump to justify the current structure. Just like MLB, I wouldn't like the Pirates to win the WS this year. GF is the perfect example. He had a core team and in each of the last few years, he added one major player. I myself have only 2 keepers that I've had more than 2 years, the trades are there if you can part with your players. I've turned over most of my team in one year.
For this league, we (and I dont mean to speak for MITH) came to the conclusion that there just isn't much we can do about it. We've been together for too long.
I've always thought of this league as 'our' league, not mine. If anyone has a suggestion that they feel may make us a better league, I am always open and will always put it to a vote.

I think we should leave it the way it is. Although some teams have great cores and may be hard to knock them off the top, I personally feel like I have made some good moves and am ready to crack the top half of the standings this year.

Gawsh...I thought for sure it was a snake. Then I suck in this league for sure (and maybe other places as well). 8 is a lot of keepers, but the non-snake draft does offer opportunities at draft time to improve your team if you can see down the road for a year or 2.
As long as I'm on a bend here: Can we change the yahoo league setting for; Can't Cut List to read none.
The Can't Cut List part of the game shouldn't be dictated by a computer megalith. We are all big boys (as I proved with the chart..some of us are bigger than others) and should be free to drop whomever. This is not a league that one worries about collusion or someone getting pissed and dumping their rosters to get even with the the league or commish.

BTW..sorry about draft delay. Rather than putting together/posting chart of league history, I should have been at work dealing with sales tax returns due tomorrow, but require payment today (didn't Wimpy say he would gladly take a hamburger today for a dollar tomorrow..or some such) but I digress. When I escaped the Boss (wife) and turned on the computer, I see that I have shot 5 hours out of the draft.
Again..I am sorry. More tirades, I'm sure. But not at the expense of the draft..promise.
Speaking of new leagues...has anyone thought about a Keeper H2H league???
Would you join such a league? It provides some flexibility as H2H doesn't punish anyone for missing the beggining of season. Thus it could always be a late draft league.
