We'll use this thread going forward with preseason/draft discussion.
If you've been following the RIBC in this thread then you know that they're voting on a possible rule change. Rather than vote on this ourselves, I'm leaning towards following any changes that they may make, if any.
So Unless anyone has any objections, I'd like to proceed with choosing our draft positions this week.
I need two managers to send me a random list of the numbers from 1 to 16.
Once we get an order, we can start picking our draft positions.

The original list was alphabetical
1. Aggies Miracles 2. Athletics Guy 3. Da Bomb 4. Donkey Hunter 5. filthy 6. GoatLocker 7. Gurudan 8. I Hate Philadelphia 9. JTSerb 10. Khahan 11. ksoze 12. Nerfherders 13. Philsphan 14. R9 15. Toral 16. Weykool
1st set of numbers were 6, 10, 11, 1, 3, 16, 5, 4, 12, 2, 9, 14, 8, 7, 13, 15
2nd set of numbers were 9, 4, 16, 12, 13, 1, 3, 7, 5, 2, 14, 15, 6, 11, 10, 8
This gives us the order listed below to pick draft position.

I put all the owners names in alphabetical order, the first list started with 6, so the 6th name goes to one, 10 goes to 2, 11 goes to 3, etc
Then, you apply the second set of numbers, so, the new 9 goes to one, 4 goes to 2, 16 goes to 3

let me take a stab. In the original list Goatlocker was 6th. In khanan list 6 was 1, so goat became 1 and then in my list 1 was in the 6 spot so goat went back to 6.
I was confused at first as well, but makes sense to me now.

I have a suggestion to help speed things up: After you have picked your draft spot, email the next person on the list so they know they are up. Everybody's email can be found in the sign up thread.

All, In order to give ourselves plenty of time to be done and let ww run before the first game on 25 Mar, I would recommend that we look at getting started with the draft shortly.
Does anybody have any major issues with getting going on Monday with no clock and then maybe start the clock on Weds morning.
Also, would like opinions on what everybody thinks about going with a 4 hour clock vice a 6. Or, we could start with a 6 and if the finish time doesn't look good, then take it to 4.
I'm really not too worried with this group.
That said, though, we do need to have those that haven't picked their draft position, do so as soon as possible when they are up to do so.

Honestly it shouldnt take more than an hour per pick on average. The clock should only be there as a safety net in case someone gets caught away from their computer and there is a run on picks. 6 hours should work, but if someone goes over 4 hours we should insist they leave a queue. Nothing is worse than someone taking 3-4 hours on every pick.
I am fine with a Mon start and we should use a 6 hour clock at the beginning.

I will be out of town until Wednesday evening and my web access will be evenings only on Monday and Tuesday. I am not too keen on starting until I get back, but I already know what my first pick is so if its necesarry to start on Monday I suppose it would be okay.

Draft Order is set.
Another proposal that I would like to get a majority to chime in on.
I could open the draft on Mon with no clock. Then, start the clock on Thurs morning.
I'm flying Mon and Fri next week and in meetings all day Tue-Thur. But, I have no problem with leaving a queue and setting up DPs. That is the great part about using On The Clock.

I'm a little nervous that if we have no clock when we start we'll have to have an accelerated clock later on. But I'm ok with whatever the group decides. I'll be out Monday night, but like goat I have no problem leaving a queue

I am fine with opening the draft whenever. My past experience with AAA leagues is that for the most part things move along at a decent rate. I would be a little concered if we got too far ahead of pace and we had to be making picks without the benefit of enough spring training games. The first 10 picks or so will probably be based on last year's performance but after that there are rookies and other players I would like to have as much info as possible.

I see no point in waiting. Might as well open it up tonight for all that it really matters. If the first person is ready to draft, he can draft. If not, he'll wait. Start the clock on Thursday and let us get going tonight. I never understood the 'hold off the start of the draft' thought-process.

OK all, I went ahead and started the draft this morning with no clock.
Will turn the clock on Thurs morning at 6 hours per with a pause from 1-7 AM Eastern Time.
Any issues with that, please let me know now. Those hours for the pause seem like about the fairest to cover both coasts. The clock will run on the weekends also.

We're progressing at a nice pace so far, even without a clock. Not bad guys.
We should start a new thread, as for some reason this one's format is messed up. Also need a rationales thread.
