Question:
Today I dropped Davis and added Wilson. It does not show in the
lineup area for today, but does for tomorrow. Does this mean that
there is a 24 wait until a DROP/ADD is in effect? Or is this just
because it is still the preseason?

if you pick up someone off the waiver wire he will never be on your roster until the following day.

MORE QUESTIONS: (SORRY)
When you go to the Yahoo team overview page with the standings
on it -- what do all the numbers/points mean? I have 95.5 points
somehow...??
Where do we go to find out cumulative season stats? Is that posted
overnight when all the games are finished?
What is the STAT TRACKER ADD ON? Is it worth it ($$)?
What does the little red NA next to a players name mean? (DL is for
disabled list...)

1. In each of the 10 categories the best team in the league (best OBP, most wins, etc.) receives 16 points (in a 16-team league), the 2nd best team receives 15, and so on down to the worst team which receives 1. Each team's 10 numbers are added together and the team with the highest number of points is listed first, the team with the second highest number of points second, etc.

2. Click on "Full Standings" in the top right hand corner of the standings chart. You will also see the category-by-category breakdown on this page.

3. The Stat tracker add-on allows you to see stats in real time. If you log on at say 9 PM you will see how your players are doing that night.

4. "NA" means Not Available -- usually, in the minors.

In my opinion, the stat tracker is WELL worth the money -- I get it every year. It gives you realtime stats, so you could follow along (in realtime) with your players on any given day from the 'My Team' page, (and has a add-on stat-tracker java application pop up window, that goes into more detail - like up-to-date full standings, and current / seasonal league-wide team stats, etc... and/or a gamecast play-by-play feature where you can follow play-by-play of any MLB game in action.). If you purchase the stat-tracker, one time, it will work for all your yahoo leagues under the same Yahoo ID. (Up to 4). The flip side of NOT getting the stat tracker, would mean you have to wait for the next day, to see how your players did yesterday.

I would not be without stat tracker in leagues that are head to head!! The ability to know what you need for the last day and be able to pick up a player to help in that area is essential!

Thanks for the help -- I did get Stat tracker.
Did some people forget that the Red Sox and A's played?

Is there a rule about dropping a player and then picking him up
later on? For example, my Yahoo notes tell me that 2060 owners
have dropped Rolen. If I drop him, am I allowed to pick him up
later on? Is the DROP/ADD without limits?

In some leagues they put a maximum on number of moves (adds/drops/trades) but in this league, our settings indicate there is no maximum to add/drops/trades. (Max Moves: No maximum) if you drop Rolen, and when he clears waivers (2-3 days), he is available to be picked up by anyone in the league, considering he clears waivers.. If he did not clear waivers, that would mean that someone used their waiver priority to pick him up. But if he does clear waivers, you (and everyone else in the league) is free to pick him up at any time.

Q

A guy is not playing (injured). If I leave him in a position, say UTIL,
does that "count" for a use of the 162 game UTIL limit.

In other words, do I need to put him on the bench for the 162
count not to count?

Thanks.

You only get credited with using a slot if the player plays. Including if a player gets no AB's (at bats) but yet comes in as a pinch runner. Even if no runs, ab's, stats, etc are accumulated, he will count against your total in that scenario... However you probably should replace DL players with a player from your bench, so you have a shot at reaching 162 games played, but if a day or two passes with a DL player in your starting lineup, it will not count against your total -- as long as he truely does not get into the game.

Q

How is team ERA calculated? (I am too lazy to actually do the
math and figure it out...)

Does the computer take all the runs scored and divide it by all
the innings pitched?

OR

Does it just find the average of each of the ERA's of your
pitchers?

Its the overall innings divided by runs times 9. It could be thought of as the "weighted" average of all pitchers on your team. If you have one pitcher who throws 100 innings and has an era of 9 and another pitcher who throws 10 innings and has an era of 0, your team era would not be 4.5. It would be much closer to 9.

Borowski and Valverde - what a pair (continued)
Boro with an ERA of 18 in 4.0 innings -- fortunately off to the
DL where he can't do any more damage to my team for a while...

Tonight Valverde enters Phils game with 3-0 lead (7.5 ERA in 6
innings) -- SP Chacon had a nice outing really stymying the
phils hitters -- blows up with HR to Victorino's replacement
(Snelling) on the first pitch, hits Utley, and lets Burrell hit a HR
to tie the game.
Gets one out -- K of Howard (my guy)! and then loses the game
-- I must admit on a really lousy call by the HP umpire. Jenkins
was so out from all replay views. Valverde ERA for 0.1 inning =
40.50 -- He and Boro are really ruining my other pitcher stats...

I think my plan of getting a lot of saves this season needs to be
re thought out...perhaps I should forget about that category and
try to pump up another one...

Anyone interested in either RP? I will entertain offers of any
kind..
