Invites have been sent to 2008 managers, and a couple have already signed up. I haven't even begun checking to see if everyone is coming back.
I enjoyed having 10 managers last year. 12 was just too many (IMO). Anyone not OK with 10?
We'll draft at Kafenatid again. Draft day tba ... but will be comparable to last year.
There's not a lot of new AL talent this year. Matt Holliday. Pat Burrell. John Smoltz. Brad Penny. CC Sabathia (welcome back).

Looks like you are #1 on the waiting list for 2010 darkside. It will be good to get you back, but we've capped managers at 10 for the league for now.
It's time to select our draft order. I took the managers as they appeared on my league page. I ran a Random Sequence Generator at random.org three times, and re-sorted each time.

I've been planning on starting the draft untimed sometime Thursday or Friday, and start the 6-hour clock next Monday.
I have sent AL Hammers a couple emails.
If I do not hear from him by 5pm West Coast time today ... I will select position #2 for him ... and we will move forward.

I have no idea what happened to AL Hammers. He signed up early at Yahoo and I've never heard back. He's never signed up at kafenatid. Everyone else is in.
I've sent an email to darkside to see if he wants the slot. As soon as we get the slot filled ... we will start.
If any of you guys have a friend that might want the slot ... offer it up. We should get started soon!

So not more than 5 minutes after I invited judy into the league, darkside answered his email. I felt bad, but I had already Ok'ed Judy and am excited to bring her enthusiasm into the league. So darkside is #1 on the waiting list for next year.

The draft in on. The clock will officially start Monday morning.
I am not near the computer from 6am - 6pm Saturday & Sunday so if you leave a queue ... make sure to have a DP other than me.
I'll be entering players onto your Yahoo teams semi-regularly during the draft, so you can refer to Yahoo for eligible FAs.
If you want to draft any MLB FAs (Bonds, Clemens), you are free to do so. They won't be in the kafenatid database, so you need to make that pick in this thread, and we'll assign a placeholder at kafenatid.

I really love flying through these picks. Our estimated finish time is 03/23/09 01:35:12 am.
Taxman has let me know that his time is quite limited all of next week, and asked for a short-clock ... in anticipation of an earlier finish.
GreggoRomans has let me know that he may to leave town to Alabama for his Grandfather's funeral. Apparently they do not have the internet yet in Alabama, so he might be offline for a couple days.
After 5 years in this league, we all know how slim the player list once round 20 hits. Then we still have 3 more to go!
Let's keep flying through these picks as we can ... but if we keep it up at this pace, we'll finish the draft 12 days before the season starts. Does anyone have any overwhelming desire to get the draft over ... or is a draft pause next Monday/Tuesday while Taxman is offline an option?
GreggoRomans could be contacted via phone for his picks, but he likely won't be in a baseball frame of mind. I do not know the timing of the funeral.
So I'm not really asking anything ... just rambling ... but letting you know that there could be some upcoming delays. But that might prove to be a good thing for our 21st-23rd picks.
A reminder - I am entering the players into Yahoo nightly. You'll be able to look at the Free Agent list and maybe that hidden gem will jump out at you a little easier.

kept getting snatched right before I wanted them!! So I HAD to have Pat the Bat.

OK first things first..what mjd has missed taking from the top of my queue, Judy has silently slipped the knife between my ribs while, grabbing my top queue picks (specifically rounds 6, 10, 12 and 13) running off in the night cackling. My a phlock of philly phoo birds nest in your nasal cavity.
My trip next week is officially canceled. Not going, but unfortuhately, some are coming here. However, I should be able to at least check the draft every couple hours. I will have a queue and have selected several designated pickers.
If my queue is empty, just take the player that Judy takes following my pick ;o)
btw, I'm sorry for your loss GreggoRomans. May he RIP. Tosh do what ever works for the league.
(although it would be ok with me if Judy and mjd forfieted a couple of draft picks. I swear, I think they have paid off Fred to get access to my OTC queue. but that begs the question of "Why would they??" I think I finally made the playoffs last year)

We keep flying through the picks. I'm having a hard time keeping up at work, and end up drafting a guy like Placido Polanco ... that I don't even have a slot for unless he can play catcher.
I spoke again with Greggo. His grandfather has not passed, but could at any time. So we'll keep moving forward.
