Ok, only because I know everyone is chomping at the bit, it was suggested that we at least start a draft order. This way we can all spend the next two weeks planning our attack.

I will ask everyone to email me a random order of numbers from one to ten. The first and second that arrive will be used is MJDs randomization method, which I understand enough to do, but not to explain. MJD please explain to everyone how this works. Do not post letting me know that you've sent. I don't want anyone to know if theirs is being used until after its done, and then I will post all information sent. I'll post a 'stop sending' when I have at least 5.

MJD also suggested, and I'm fine with it if everyone else is, is having the order choose which pick they want to use. Meaning, if you draw the 1, but would rather have the 6, and thus the 15th, you could choose that.

I would like to wait at least until the WBC has gotten going before we draft. Hammies are going to get pulled, knees are going to pop, arms are going to ache. I really think we can all really benefit from spending an extra week doing some good research. I've been putting together a spreadsheet, using the categories our league is using and it is very enlightening to say the least.

I propose we start drafting no sooner than March 9th. I think we could wait until later that week, maybe the 13th, but that may be pushing it. I would also like to start with no clock. I know us and the clock is never the issue, lets take our time and not regret it.

Thoughts? Lets hear some chatter!!

Same as the RotoGuru Invitational Leagues determines it's draft
order. Many of you are already familiar with it.

I'm totally out of pocket tomorrow. 2 managers please send
Stealth a random set of numbers 1-10. We'll use the first 2 sets
to determine the order in which the managers can choose their
pick and explain the entire process.

If it's good enough for Guru, it's fair enough for me, but we will
certainly seriously consider any viable options.

Never liked that system, never know if someone paid off
commissioner to get top three spots. Should be sent to at least 3
people so no watergate happens.

Still bitter that I lost my True Dream Team.

My uncle (the black sheep one, and a Met fan too) bought me tickets to opening day at Yankee Stadium in 1988 (I think). Rick Rhoden was pitching for the Yanks and won 8-0, maybe 8-1. I was 16 and he never told my mother it was bar sponsored group outing. When I got on the school bus the last two rows were occupied by kegs, and everyone, yes even the 16 year old, was handed a mug as we got on. I still have that mug today. Good times.

I will only say that as of right now I don't have five. If you haven't emailed me a list yet, please do so. I know MJD will not be around today, but I told him my starting order when I posted, so I didn't want him to give me a random number list. So, it is up to the 8 others.

Just looking over my post #11 and I don't want it to be mistaken for harsh sarcasm. If it came across that way, I didn't mean it.

Being that I don't have 5 yet, I will say I'll take the first 5 and use them in the order they were sent, then post the detailed results.

Ok, heres it goes. I'm just putting this together as I type.

I started out by using the reverse order from how we agreed to join, which I told MJD as soon as I posted the info here. This order was listed in the emails sent before:
Mudville 1 | Wazaaap 2 | Dilligad 3 | Taxman 4 | Proteins 5 | Y2JS 6 | Golf 7 | Wiggs 8 | MJD 9 | Stealth 10

At 12am Wiggs emailed me first with a "random order":
2 4 6 8 10 9 7 5 3 1 - Which made the list:
Wazaaap 1 | Taxman 2 | Y2JS 3 | Wiggs 4 | Stealth 5 | MJD 6 | Golf 7 | Proteins 8 | Dilligad 9 | Mudville 10

At 8:25am Mudville sent me this order:
6 10 2 5 1 7 4 9 3 8 - Which made the list:
MJD 1 | Mudville 2 | Taxman 3 | Stealth 4 | Wazaaap 5 | Golf 6 | Wiggs 7 | Dilligad 8 | Y2JS 9 | Proteins 10

At 9:08am Golf quietly emailed me this list:
4 7 6 GF 3 8 5 2 9 10 - Which made this list:
Stealth 1 | Wiggs 2 | Golf 3 | MJD 4 | Taxman 5 | Dilligad 6 | Wazaaap 7 | Mudville 8 | Y2JS 9 | Proteins 10

At 1:29pm Proteins emailed me this list:
2 5 6 4 8 7 10 1 3 10 9 (I took the first 10)
Wiggs 1 | Taxman 2 | Dilligad 3 | MJD 4 | Mudville 5 | Wazaaap 6 | Proteins 7 | Stealth 8 | Golf 9 | Y2JS 10

And finally, at 1:47pm, Mike Vivian sent me this list:
3 8 9 1 4 7 2 6 0 5 - leaving the most randomly randomized madness I've ever seen, in the form of this order:

1 - Dilligad
2 - Stealth
3 - GolfFreak
4 - Wiggs
5 - MJD
6 - SO Proteins
7 - Taxman
8 - Wazaaap
9 - Y2JS
10 - Mudville

Honestly, its been tough getting this off of my mind. I honesltly have no clue where I'm going, serious arguements can be made for all three top players. I doubt I'll think of anything else for weeks.

I might have to see if MITH will come out of retirement for consultations. He just loves it when I need his help, lol. Chances are these words will be said in the conversation (we still call our fights conversations after 25 years), 'Randy Velarde', 'Alice' and 'elbow'.

FYI - Regarding MITH
I did my best to talk MITH into joining this league. He wouldn't budge. We were so close to trying to put it together last year and just ran out of time and I still find it almost impossible to believe that he isn't part of this group. I've been talking to him, bouncing different ideas about creating this for at least 3 years. He has had serious influence in the structure we've created here. I don't want anyone to think this was all me. RotoYAKL was our idea, mostly his from the start. He just didn't want to commish, lol, so he dumped it on me.

Joe and I grew up on the same street. We've been friends since about 2nd-3rd grade. Others call it fighting, we call it respected conversation with constantly conflicting points of view. Besides being Yankee fans, which we are both, as you already know, very-very serious Yankee fans, we really are mostly opposites. Which is why I love him as a brother and had him as my best man. MJD and I have already discussed him changing his mind in the future, and how to fit him in whenever that does happen. So if it comes up later, you know now.

Me and Proteins have been friends for about 15 years, he was my
boss for a few years. I call them the Ahole years! I left for the rival
company and started kicking his a$$. Joined a golf team together
and have been good friends ever since. Also kicked his A$$ in golf.
I played smallworld fantasy baseball and got him hooked!(also
kicked his A$$) I moved 5 years ago back to Wisconsin but we keep
in touch. Alot more during the baseball season talking smack.

And he thinks Bonds didn't know what was in the juice! All that fog

I'm not sure if Golf realizes this time he wont have 6 years to build up a winning team. With us drafting complete rosters before the 6th year arrives, he may never make it. I'm just sayin.

The only thing left to decide is the draft date. I propose March 13th.

Re: Drafting:
I will not use a clock unless we need one, but that doesn't mean hold us up if you don't need to. The bulk of this group has been drafting together for a long time, there is no need to rush or panic.

Predraft advise to make is easier for everyone. There are no problem managers in this group, so consider this more of a friendly reminder:

1 - Do your research ahead of time so have a clue before we start. These categories are not standard so a little homework will go a long way to saving us time.

2 - Please use queues whenever possible. I work from home and should have the draft open on my computer 18 hours a day to push it along. Anyone who feel comfortable should add me as a picker for them.

3 - If you are going to be away and unable to pick for a long period of time, let us know as soon as possible. Small breaks aren't a problem so long as the rest of us aren't hitting refresh over and over waiting for you. Many times I enjoy knowing I wont be needed for a few hours. As long as time isn't a factor and it isn't abused, this isn't a problem. We all have lives and the common goal of getting the draft done, work together and there are no issues.

4 - If an emergency comes up, just call me personally and let me know so we can stop the draft until you are back. I think it was Taxman whose daughter got in a car accident one year and we ended up skipping him in one round. I felt awful. I know we aren't the top priority and that everyone has a life, just let me know and we will work with you. If you do not have my cell phone number, let me know and I will email it to you. Program it into your phone. I will make sure to have MJDs number in my phone should anything arise here.

5 - Last and most important, don't pick any of my guys. I'm tired of spending hours hoping someone doesn't get noticed so I can snag him up. At least once a year one of you monkeys breaks my heart. I still have no clue how Lincecum dropped to the 4th round last year. So if your not sure, email me who you want and I'll let you know if you can have him.

Basically, once Arod was hurt, my options became Hanley and Pujols. After making such an effort to include defense in the categories being used, I couldn't justify taking the top pick overall with someone who could be one of the more error prone players in the league. Believe me, I don't knock Golf at all. It was hard to turn down.

Then Pujols I loved. I was considering Pujols even when Arod was healthy. When it came down to it, I realized his upside was the best, bar none, but his downside is huge, if the elbow does persist. I think he is a steal at number 3 and Dilligad should be counting his lucky stars.

When you consider his age, his never being injured, his always having someone on base annoying the pitcher/infield, hitters behind him to get him good pitches and drive him in, the runs, the rbi, the overall OPS, should be good for at least 20 steals, and is an average fielder, David Wright just now seems to be the best total package... considering the four year plan.

That had every spare thought since I realized I was going to get the number 1. My wife even said to me last night, 'oh, you went with Wright, good, he is the best total package'. She is a tolerant one, she is.

Don't like taking 1B with my first two picks, but didn't feel like I could pass on either Cabrera or Teixeira. Since there's 4 positions to plug them in, it mitigated my uneasiness somewhat.

Man, don't doze off during this draft. Obviously once Golf
awoke from his late night stupor, everyone was ready to go.
That was one hell of a great game, last night. And all those
extra OTs caused me to imbibe a few extra beers myself.

That damned ARod injury has messed up almost all my drafts.
With ARod in the mix, I thought Wright might fall to me. But it's
tough to go wrong with a young sure fire 6 tool player. That's
the main reason I passed up Reyes for Grady. Much better
defense and 30/30 potential every year.

Re 59:Those were my first 2 picks in the RIBC AAA PCL draft
and all I thought about was how many dingers Hamilton will hit
after Kinsler gets on first and steals second in that Arlington
band box in the Texas heat.

I just want everyone to remember one thing, you all passed on Arod... twice. There is no way I can. This may be a mistake and it may kill this year for me, but I have to take him. Second pick to follow.

I'm gonna take a minute on this one because I feel strongly about two players, never thought I'd have to choose which two of the three to go with. I never expected Arod to pass everyone twice. It may be a minute before I decide.

I was hoping you MIGHT not take Arod, with already having Wright. Was going to taking a chance for my 3rd round pick.

I decided on Rollins at 1st pick 3rd round. No matter where we go from here, I'm happy. Wright, Arod and Rollins, almost sounds like Golfs team last year!! Ryan Howard would've been safe from me. Shoulda went the other way.

Yea, think I will be kicking myself about Aroids! Still had good options at 1st left even if you had taken Howard. But you pressured me with your texts! ;P

Berkman is a great pick this late.

Carlos Lee at 6.05, what a steal. I was debating between him and Bay, and going with Bay was more a gut feeling than anything. He should have a higher OBP, more runs, the potential to have a similar SLG, and he's 2 years younger. No doubt that Lee is the better player/pick right now though.

Again, no problem if you want to wait. If someone wants me to pick one round, wait and give them a chance, whatever. I'll do exactly what you ask out of respect.

Don't forget, I still hate leaving queues personally. I like to watch and see where its going and use that as part of my decision. I can pick for anyone, but if you chose me as a designated picker, just let me know how you want me to handle it.

If I could, I would delete Adrain Beltre from fantasy baseball. His name causes knots in my shoulders to this day. Argh. We should have some sort of 'Beltre' award. I'll have to ponder that one. It would have to go to the most overrated player kept? Most ridiculous trade requests of the year? Something like that. We should even award a point for the 'Beltre Award Winner', lol. It doesn't even matter what you have to do to win, if you do, you get a point.

The draft is complete. Mr Irrelevant is Troy Glaus. I hear Disney is having a parade for him.

Troy Glaus, nice pick actually! I was looking at him but decided to go with another hurt 3B in Lowell.

Those of you who want the projected standings based on Rotowire's crystal ball send me an email and I'll attach the Excel spreadsheet in a response.

Just talked to Matt and he woke up this AM to a fried hard drive
on his computer. He's going to be out of pocket until Wednesday
and should have the rosters loaded onto Yahoo by Thursday PM.

Thanks for sharing your Rotowire info MikeV.

Help please...I drafted Tori Hunter @ 16.05. I did not draft Tommy Hunter. Could you make the switch (drop Tommy and add Tori) for me please?
