0 Subject: Dirty Dozen Keeper Declaration

Posted by: Great One
- [2510199] Wed, Feb 24, 2010, 14:13

Please post keepers by midnight, last day of February each year (2010 is this Sunday night 2/28/10).

Post your keepers, and I also reccomened posting your leftovers cause you might get a pickswap out of it for that little bit of extra work. If anyone has time to help me enter them on Kafentid on Monday it would be a great help. Sending that On The Clock signup out now...

GO...

Monday is my least busy day at work. After 12:00 I have to make myself look busy at my desk, so Kafenatid might even get me a raise by making me look busy.

Let me know.

1. Were going to go with the "As soon as Yahoo! adds them" player pool as defined by them(as we have done in the past). So they will have "Evan Longoria" (Scott Sizemore this year for example) or whatever on the verge of debuting guy and we can draft or pick them up post draft as we see fit.

2. During the draft anyone can pick anyone they want, college player, overseas, Barilkos magic rabbit... whoever. Well pick an obvious "Heathcliff Slocumb" type placeholder who will need to remain on your roster until that player gets called up or you will lose your rights to drafted player. After that player gets added please notify me and Ill add them manually to your roster so you dont have to use waiver priority etc. If you pick once of these guys, its your responsibility to let me know theyve been called up and added to the system. Also, lets please have a gentlemens agreement not to add any of these guys on purpose and if you notice another guys placeholder has been called up, please let the league know.

3. The draft is your only opportunity to pick these guys and use the placeholder system. Otherwise, when Yahoo adds them throughout the season - they go through waivers and everyone gets an even shot based on the rolling waiver priority.

UPDATE
-- If the guy you want is not there, please email the kafenatid admin's (Fred, KKB) and have them added or pick a real obvious placeholder and also post that player here along with the name of their placeholder, for tracking purposes.

Jeter basically was his "pick" that he traded, so the # of players balance out.

As I said earlier, I am leaving tomorrow and going to be out of town this weekend. Hopefully we can make some progress so that setting a queue to get me through my 4.2 isn't too difficult. I have no picks in the 5th or 6th round making this easier. If we get to the 7th it could be difficult but I will still have some access and be checking in. If anyone wants to keep me updated through texts that would me appreciated, but I should be able to be fine regardless. let me know.

And I would hope that we will easily finish before the 4th...Should be more like middle of this month right?

Kafenatid should leave a slot where you could put a space for a status update, or a drop down with a few options so that people can say around, bed, out or whatever so know when to wait or when to expect a run.

This draft order is like an actual batting order!!!

Our speedy picking guys are at the top (PD, DPR, Pete, Blue Hen) followed by our very slow power hitters in the middle (DaBomb, Slizz, Tree), and then our speedsters towards the bottom again, (Barilko6, Loki, Holt)!

I can't wait to win this thing!

Argh. I was debating between Napoli and Lyon. I wanted Lyon to have both ends of the Houston closer situation. But there was only one player without a catcher, and he picks right before me. I didn't want to wait 11 picks only to get disappointed. Plus I thought Lyon would last - unlike Lindstrom, he's a net negative if he's not the closer.

All players have been entered. Please check the Yahoo "Draft Results" page and confirm everyone on your team is correct.

As far as I can tell, we have two guys that aren't in the system and the managers will have to keep these guys to retain rights to the others.

23.07 Juan Abreu = Jenrry Mejia, RP, NYM
24.04 Tobi Stoner = Drew Storen, RP, WAS

Waiver Priority is reverse of draft I guess? Also, should I leave the rosters frozen til a later date or just submit in the next couple days and "start the season"... a few opinions here will do fine.

I have Lidge in Round 15. I really think he gets his act back together this season and surprises us all.

For the sake of winning this league, I hope I am wrong.

How can Gregg have a better edge on the closer's job if he isn't even the closer? (At least yet). Lidge has the job.

He doesn't have the job if he can't throw the ball.

I know they are keeping the door open for him. And I would be absolutely pleased to see them continue to put him out on the mound. But that's because I don't have him.

:)

2008 he was awesome. Last year, especially toward the end of the season, he was dreadful.

Nathan may need Tommy John surgery. Great timing. Totally blew a keeper slot. Someone want to give Brian McCann back to me?

Tough break. But if Dotel comes back, you have three decent closers on your squad in Dotel, Janks, and Bell.

Yeah, that is tough Holt. Considering its still only March 10th, I think we can push these slow drafts back a little bit, as long as we tighten up on some of the slow pickers. Who knows who else might get injured before the start of the season. (I hope its 2 of GO's keepers)

Actually, I'd be happy if there was a rule Holt could only have six keepers. Might level the playing field a bit.

We can definitely look at starting even later. It only took 8 days to complete. Perhaps we can start the draft each year on opening Thursday of March Madness, with keepers due on "Selection Sunday". That would give a 2 week window.

Waiver Priority will be reverse of the draft order.

I will publish the rosters and "start the season" Monday March 29th, about a week before the real season starts.

Draft has concluded. Please head over to Dirty Dozen regular season for future discussion.

good - I was worried that waivers would be opening up this weekend.
