I just dont understand how we are drafting with Doug having an illegal roster. He is going to need to cut players as some point- then who gets to pick them up? I think those players need to be available in the draft and that we should have never allowed it to get to this point in the 1st place. I will not pick until we get clarification.

Zobrist could have been had a lot cheaper than a 5th overall pick by trading... *shrug*
I was actually intending to re-sign him but it got lost in the shuffle.
Well, one trade down. I still need to clear cap... if someone wants to pair up Kemp (2) with Papelbon (10,10) or Reyes (8,8) or Lackey (7,7) or whoever else... remember you need not necessarily eat the entire contract.

The find (Ctrl-F) feature comes in very handy for double checking taken players.

I apologize for the mistakes on there. This has been such a crazy preseason I couldn't do my usual double-checking on the taken players list.
The best way to check is to take the latest pre-draft rosters (the one I sent out yesterday) and do a Find on the entire worksheet.

3 new managers, a team at almost twice the cap limit, and multiple last minute deals...I don't understand how there possibly could have been any mistakes. :)

I understand but it would have been nice to know ahead of time that the taken players list might not have been accurate. As a newcomer I had no idea how all this worked. Ubaldo Jimenez was on the taken players and was just drafted...UGH

He was one of the two that Nerf alluded to earlier...I understand the frustration, because I realize you have less information as a newcomer...trust me, I've been there. I inherited a team with cap trouble four years ago and am finally at a point where I can compete and have cap room. I can honestly say that this is the first time in four years that it has been like this, so I hope you don't judge us too quickly. This has certainly been a difficult year for everyone, especially Nerf.

I completely understand that Nerf is ridiculously busy with this league. I guess I just dont see how you release a taken players list- we as managers mark the players that were taken- then he says there is a change but he wont tell us who the changes are. It really makes things difficult. I had both oswalt and jimenez as kept players.

I think he puts together the taken players list as a convenience. I know that I check the pre-draft rosters as well as the taken players list before I make a pick...it is not a perfect system, but it has worked for us in the past. I think it might be better if he just released the list of who was being re-signed and let us take care of the rest on our own. This way, we are each responsible for our own and it takes some of the work and pressure off of Nerf. Just a thought.

Code Red..I completely understand. I have been commissioner in a contract fantasy baseball league and I just let go of those repsonsibilties. I guess I'm just asking for clarification of where to look. When I get a taken players list I use that. I was never told to use only pre draft rosters.

I apologize again. The taken players list I did because one year people complained that they didn't know who was kept even while they had the predraft roster, and there were 2 or 3 bogus picks in the first round, so I started doing the list.
Usually, I say very explicitly that there might be mistakes on the taken players list and I would double check the rosters, but with all the craziness these last couple weeks I failed to mention that.
I garauntee that this is a fun league once it gets going, but there is certainly a learning curve involved. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me.
