Not that the other thread is overly active, but I thought a draft recap thread to keep the recaps together would be nice.

Please include some thoughts on general strategy, best value pick, favorite pick, pick you'd like to do over, and overall strengths/weakness of your team:

General Strategy

I didn't even start to put together a strategy until I knew where I'd be picking. I had my choice of end of draft or middle of draft. I chose to 7th only because I believe over the prior 3 years I was a bottom 4 pick every time. This was my 'highest' pick yet and I wanted to avoid turn picks for a change of pace. I then simply took a wait & see approach for best available player.

One major change I made was to be a bit more aggressive in closers. I traditionally do not touch closers until late rounds. This time I felt I'd just 'go for it,' as I seem to remember teams who were higher in the rankings in the psat did not have need to struggle in this category. Something different.

Best Value Pick
Jason Frasor at round 17.7 was a nice one for me. It gave me 3 closers which means I should be near the top of the pack in this format and possibly gives me trade bait. Closers were all over the place, as high as round 5, but generally between 8 and 11. Getting a starting closer in round 17 was nice.

I'm also very fond of my Nolan Reimold pick, though we'll have to wait and see about his injury. The other good value pick I like is Skip Schumaker. He's a dual-eligible MI who can put up a solid OBP taken in round 20. He was taken in all 5 leagues, some as early as round 13.

Favorite Pick
I think my favorite pick is Sizemore in round 2. I just like the guy. Sizemore=manlove. What can I say. When I was doing keeper leagues, I had him in as many as I could. I had him last year as a round 2 pick I believe. I don't think I reached, I don't think I got a 'good deal'. I think I paid about right. But I just like having him on the team.

Pick to do over
Vladimir Guerrero. Can't complain about having his bat on my team. But I thought he was OF eligible. This one is purely my own fault for assuming. Though considering I had Victorino que'd up here....*cough7.06cough*.

Overall strengths/Weakness

My biggest strength is potential.
I think I have very solid pitching. A front 3 of Gallardo, Shields, Burnett gives me a leg up on K's, W's and will keep me competitive in era/whip. Pineiro as my #4 has potential to help my % numbers (not something many teams can see in a league this deep. By #4, most starts are stlll there to fillup counting stats). And Jeff Francis as my 5th...see Pineiro. Of course, thats potential for 4th and 5th not necessarily reality.
I've documented my belief in my RP above.
for my hitting, I thnk I did a solid job with my % stats, but not necessarily so well wtih the counting stats. That will be my weakness. I doubt I'll be bottom of the pack in the hitting counting stats, but I certainly won't be competitive top 5.

Not counting my own, which team could win it all

I really like PD's team. He's going to be competitive top 3 in most counting categories for hitting and pitching. He's got some guys that will pull his OBP down, but a few that will prop it up and his SLG looks to be near the top. He's gonna be solid in ERA, very good in whip and probably pound us all in K's.

I'll admit I haven't looked at every team. But any others I look at I'll be comparing to PD's as a benchmark.

General Strategy
I generally like to fill up on starting pitching and let them just run the table. However in past years this strategy has put me in the middle of the pack as I tend to burn innings too fast and I miss out on great end of season starts. I wanted 2-3 base stealers, 2-3 power bats and 2-3 OBP guys. Meanwhile getting 2 good closers and 3 good or better starters and just fill the rest with multi position players and average pitchers.

Best Value Pick
Jair Jurrjens in round 10. Where else can you get 15 wins, 150+ K's and a possible sub 3.00 ERA other than round 10? Also was happy that Justin Upton fell to me in round 2. I had him pegged in late round 1.

Favorite Pick Upton in round 2, I believe I should have picked him in round 1, but Crawford outside the top 10 in a contract year was too good too be true.

Pick to do over.
Derrek Holland in round 24. He's not even on the active roster. I could have used another OF and gotten better value than this. He's just getting cut anyhow.

Overall Strengths/Weaknesses
I have a very strong front end rotation. Jurrjens, Carpenter and Lester. Latos should win double digit games and Hopefully Davis shows up. Could use another closer, and I'm relying on some young arms to come through to hold my pitching up.

I should be competitve in Steals with 7 guys who stole double digits last year. Also should be decent in runs. I'll struggle with slugging and maybe OBP unless Crawford and Upton can pull through and surprise me. Beckham and Freese hopefully can help in slugging.

Which team could win it all?
PD or wiggs, both have all around solid teams. Wiggs drafted SPs in the first two rounds which is uncommon but he cleaned up bats after that.

I'll write one of these cause I gotta practice up for my callup to the big leagues after I win it all!! :)

General Strategy
Drafts I usually go for best available player and figure I use that value to trade and assess any holes on my squad. But I wasn't confident in my ability to trade with some of the guys in this league simply because I don't know a lot of them. So this draft each pick became about trying to fill holes, especially all those IF spots. I keep finding myself picking hitters too, so I definitely feel hitting heavy, pitching light right now.

Best Value Pick
Nick Swisher and Kazmir in the 13th, and Schrezer in the 12th were guys I missed out on and should have taken a few rounds earlier. I think my Best Value was Phil Hughes in the 16th, I took him before he was officially named a SP. He has serious potential in that rotation and is a great pick that late.

And how the heck did Billy Butler last til the 5th? Disappointed I missed out on him.

Favorite Pick
I love Adam Dunn in the 3rd. His numbers in this format are a 2nd round value. Plus he's a flex player which is value with our league setup.

Pick to do over.
I wish I had a more reliable 2nd SP than Brett Anderson. But I trust in my trading and free agent ability that I can upgrade my depth there. I think hitters are more difficult to fix.

Overall Strengths/Weaknesses
I think I have the best hitting across the board in the entire league, and frankly I should considering I didn't spend high picks on pitchers. So we'll have to see how that pans out. So when monitoring my squad, it'll come down to how I can fill in my pitching stats.

Which team could win it all?
I'm not sure where all the love for PD's squad is coming from, I think he has major holes in his IF. I think he spent too much to get those closers too. But ignoring closers has always been a strategy of mine -- so my point of view is polar opposite from that perspective. I like reebertxx's team, he has a strong IF which I feel is the core of a good team -- as well as Diddy (who had a similar hitting point of view as me).
I liked Khahan's first 3 hitters, but like me he's got question marks at the top of his pitching staff.

General Strategy
I like to fill up a strong IF in the beginning because I am pretty lucky at picking up good pitchers in later rounds.

Best Value Pick
Rauch @ Rd 16
Frasor @ Rd 17
and there are a couple more solid picks in these two rounds too

Favorite Pick
Derek Lee @ 6.16 :) I have 1B, CI filled at the point but couldn't pass on this

Pick to do over
Hudson Streets @ 9.01 with his timetable being pushed back again. Or maybe the draft position - I haven't pick first for a few years now, so I couldn't pass on this opportunity.

Overall Strengths/Weaknesses
My OF's is unproven and some question marks with my staff but we will see how it goes ;)

Not counting my own, which team could win it all
I think reebbertxx2001, Khahan and MikeV (Dilligad) have a solid balanced teams and should be contending for the title. Great One and eserel have big hole with Save's but they could take it home they could overcome that.

General Strategy

Getting the 4th pick I built my strategy around getting Utley in the 1st round. luckily nobody reached and stole him from me. My first year doing this so I really just looked for value picks while not reaching to much. Pretty much decided early on to punt the C spot.

Best Value Pick

Getting Pierre at 13.04 was a steal :). Also couldn't believe that BJ was there at 5.04. That was the latest he was taken in all the RIBC leagues.

Favorite Pick

BJ Upton. I'm a fan anyways and think he will be a steal in the 5th round. I'd throw Scherzer in as a close second.

Pick to do over

Brandon Morrow. I do like his upside but probably could have got him a bit later.

Overall Strengths/Weaknesses

I really didn't want to only have 2 closers but the way the draft went I kind of got stuck with what I have. I feel good about my staff otherwise but the depth is lacking. My hitters are very well balanced for this type of league though I may be a bit short on steals.

Not counting my own, which team could win it all

Matt G, Wiggs, and Khanan are teams that I would like to have. GO's hitters are stacked and if he gets a bit of help for his staff he could be a serious contender. If I had to pick one it would be Wiggs. Hally and Lincy can't be underestimated.

General Strategy

Because I was picking where I was, I didn't feel I would really go with any particular strategy going in, since most of my queue would have been taken before I got to pick the first time.

Typically, however, I'll avoid SP in the first round and look for a position player who can bring it for two or more categories. Then, I'll look for a SP with a high K rate (wins are more fluky than K's, so I'm just looking for a guy who has what it takes to mow down batters).

Best Value Pick

14.11 Garrett Jones (this is a guy who hit 21 dingers and 44 rbis in 82 games last year). This was a great pickup in that round.

9.07 Chipper Jones In a non-keeper league this guy should have gone 3 rounds earlier.

Favorite Pick

I think the one I was most excited about was Christ Getz (25 SB still on the board in the 20th round), but Jorge De La Rosa (13.15) was pretty much my favorite. The guy fanned 193 players last year.

Pick to do over

Corey Hart (15.15) was a guy I thought might turn it around, but it looks so much like a bust pick that I just dropped him. Dice-K might be another. Around round 15 I was looking for some solid players who are at least average across the board. Should have taken Blanks like I wanted to!

Overall Strengths/Weaknesses

I've got weakness in my MI where I've speculated a bit with Kaz Matsui, Ty Wiggington, and Guzman. These are three solid players, nothing to write home about, but if they play they can hold their own.

To some degree all picks are crapshoots. In the case of my team, I sincerely believe that if the players play like I thought they might when I drafted them then there is no way I would finish less than third. I've got 4 guys who fill finish above, or near, 200Ks. 4 guys with 25 SB or more, etc.

Not counting my own, which team could win it all

Wiggs has got a solid team. twilson's success will depend entirely on his starting pitching, which may implode or take him to the top--nothing in between. NYMetsSlugger10 looks pretty good to me.

This is the first time I've played fantasy baseball and, although I'm a long time baseball fan, I haven't closely followed the players in recent years. Consequently, I feel like this entire season will be a learning experience for me.

My initial draft strategy was to get some middle infielders who could hit and then build around them. I felt that Zobrist, who can play infield and outfield, would provide roster flexibility which I thought would be important.

Near the middle of the draft, I realized I had missed the boat on closers, so I guess I will be in scramble mode on saves. If I had it to do over, I would try to get a top shelf closer and would wait on Jered Weaver.

When I look at my picks compared to other results, my best value picks would seem to be Julio Borbon (12th round) or Cody Ross (20th).

I'm not sure I have one favorite pick; I've tried to pick some young guys (Borbon, Hunter Pence, Josh Johnson, Ricky Nolasco, and Rick Porcello) who could break out and have big years, so I'll be following them with interest.

At this point, I'm not really sure where I stand relative to the other teams. I'm probably weak at the power stats and saves; I think I'll be pretty good in the other categories (if my young guys come through). Looking at the other rosters, I like reebbertxx's team.

So my team is not hitting, my ace didn't pitch well... but the rest of my staff has done great. Well if that isn't the complete opposite of my expectations lol...
