We have always had 4. If we want to change to 5, I think there should be a one-year advance notice.
In other words, if we want to move to 5, then let's decide now - but implement in 2013.

[2] What's needed from the person to get it started?
1. Make sure everyone is back.
2. Make sure everyone is registered for the draft at Draftime.com. I'm willing to manage the draft once it's ready to start, but would like someone to make sure everyone gets signed up. (I have not yet registered there, but will do so momentarily.)
3. Pick a deadline date for keepers, and follow up as needed.
It does not appear that everyone is getting the league emails originating from the ESPN site (or if they are, they aren't responding.) So it looks like we'll need to track down some people.

I've been in the Political league since it's inception and won it last year. I've been in Gurukeepers league and won 2 out of 3 years.
I mention this to show I am a dedicated and active manager.

Let's use this schedule:
Select 4 keepers by 6pm ET Sunday, March 18. Please do this at the ESPN site. There is a keeper link on the "My Team" page.
I'll enter the keepers into Draftime on Sunday night, and start the draft. Last year, we finished in about 8 days, so this should get us done before the two Japan games on March 28-29.
As a reminder, we draft in reverse order of last year's standings, with no snake. Here is the order:

(Too many balls in the air to overcome my ADD. At least, that's my excuse...)

I can be online for another half hour or so. After that, I'll be at the mercy of when the repair guy comes tomorrow.

I propose that the penalty for Solvang should be that he will not be allowed to keep both Pujols and Batista! ;-)

Solvang sent his keepers. I suggest that Guru picks the four keepers for Mighty Magics and then pics his first 3-4 players. If he does not show up by then, we can easily find another player. We need to get going. I hope others agree.

I've had a few email exchanges with Magics today, and I think we have a plan to get him registered. I'll plan to load up the keepers in Draftime this afternoon, and activate the draft this evening. We'll go untimed for the first round, just to make sure everyone is ready to roll. After that, I think I'll set a 4 hour clock, with an overnight pause of 8 hours.
As I recall, this league tends to draft pretty fast, so with active use of queues, we may still finish in time for the Japan games.
Russ, I'll set you up with Commish privileges at ESPN so that you can help me keep up with player pickups for teams as the draft unfolds.

FYI for everyone - The first game of the Japan series was moved up a day to allow for the President to make a national speech the original first night. They'll play a day, skip a day and play the original final date.

I just started the draft.
I have not yet heard back from Magics if he has been able to access the new account I set up for him, but I assume we'll work that out soon enough.
I also haven't heard whether jumpball has regained internet access. Until I know that Magics is properly situated, I'll defer picking on jumpball's behalf.
Everyone else is free to set up queues, etc.

You don't really need a designated picker. You can use the auto-pick feature.
Designated pickers are only needed if you need some logic applied to the pick selection.

Sorry Guru, It's the 1st NFL game that is involved with the Obama speech to a joint session of Congress. With them starting on Thursday this year in the NFL from week 1, it's caused a conflict. Sports brainfart.

Looks like we'll wrap up the draft on Saturday.
Please review your rosters on ESPN. I've been adding most players as they are drafted, but I'm sure I've missed a few (or put guys on the wrong teams, etc.).
If you are missing any players, just add them. If you have any incorrect players, drop them. (dropped players will go on waivers, but I can override that and add them back to the correct team.)
