Draft is in full swing and going well. 13 1/2 rounds down.

I am inputting the draft results as we go. Results can be found here.

Please double check as we go and let me know of any errors. I'm trying to double and triple check my work but sometimes a second set of eyes are the best at finding booboos.

*raises hand*

My draft frustration is well documented. I think in this case my frustration comes from some really good managers and really savvy drafters. I just never got my draft strategy going the way I wanted.

All picks thru round 20 are inputted into Yahoo (I think 1 or 2 people were still in r19). Please check the link above to make sure all rosters look ok.

You can also use the yahoo sortable player list to see who is available still.

I have to say, I really liked that Span pick by drussell in round 20. I had completely forgotten about him when trying to fill my OF.

Guys - just a heads up - I just got an unexpected call and have to go out of town for a few hrs - will be back around 8 pm or so. I'm still 8 picks away. I put three names in in my queue. I'll check in as soon as I get home.

Wow, very interesting choice Loki.

With his new minor league contract that has the potential to be a a real steal and a real boon for a pitching staff. And if not, well its only a round 24 pick.

Now for everybody else: Lets finish this up before that other AAA league. We had a good enough head start on them.

We are done! All picks are inputted. I sent everybody an email with a link to our draft results page and a request. Please double check your team for any errors. While you don't have to, I would appreciate an email back to confirm that your team looks good or if I need to make a change. I'll go over it once or twice this weekend myself and once I'm confident we have everything accurate I'll begin the season.

I checked my team and it looks good. Oh and it was entered correctly too :)

Thanks to khahan for keeping on top of things, fantasy commissioners are usually unappreciated.

Great job to all for keeping this draft moving and completing everything from start to finish in about 12 days. I do enjoy reading the rationales so thanks to all who participated.

Can't wait for first pitch.

chris carpenter, andrew bailey, chase utley, carlos quentin, ryan howard, allen craig

Howard at least I knew would be on the dl. Craig as late as this past weekend was supposedly going to be ready for opening day, but now he's only starting a minor league rehab in mid april.
Utley I wasn't expecting a full season from, but his arthritis flaired up and landed him on the dl.

Quentin hurt his knee a few days after I drafted him. Bailey just landed on the dl, and carpenter...when I drafted him things were looking very good and quickly went down hill.

Some of it was self induced, but it still hurts.

My hitters are 1 for 39 today. That's difficult to grasp, statistically. Imagine flipping two coins together 39 times. Count how many times both come up heads. Imagine getting that to happen only once out of the 39 tries. And that's going with the assumption that they're all .250 hitters. They're pretty much all better than .250. Throw in Heath Bell's stinkeriffic blown save and it makes me want to break something.

Slugging % = .026

Looking to deal an outfielder for a starting pitcher, in case anyone is interested. I make fair deals. Not one of those who looks for something a little lopsided - in other words - I won't waste your time. Send me an offer or ask me to look at your roster and I'll send something.

There is very little like having your 1st round pick go down in April for a major part if not all of the season. Retrospect is great, but I should have known better than to pick an injury prone player like Ellsbury. I really liked my team this year, but not being relegated to AA in 2013 will be a struggle and finishing in the top 3 near impossible.

MBT, I think thats one of the things that makes these leagues more difficult and challenging. I'm sitting here with 4 players who can have a major impact down the road. But its eating up my ability to compete now. Do I suck it up and make the best of it now and wait. Or do I go for it now and hope some hot starts from lesser knows turn into full seasons?

At least in my case I kind of set myself up for this situation (bailey and quentin were a bit unforseen), but we all have the same rules.

That happened to me last season. Got stuck with a bunch of uncuttable players on the DL. You fall behind in games played, counting stats, lose opportunities to pick up prospects. It's horrible.

8R 6 RBi 2SB .425OBP .737 slg
1S 4k (in 4IP) 2.25 ERA 1.00 whip

Gained 5.5 points to move within 12 of 15th place! I'm on a roll. Yeah!

I had to come to this league for that news. I now have a draft officially worse than this one. Office league I'm in (5x5 12 team) my draft went like this (picking 3rd in odd and 10th in even)
Albert Pujols
Jose Reyes
Mike Stanton
Pablo Sandoval
Jon Lester
Alex Gordon

Next few picks were good, then 3 out of 4 from 11-14 were the following closers:
Andrew Bailey
Carlos Marmol(1save on the season)
Kyle Farnsworth

Somehow I'm NOT in last place in that league (picks 7-10 were pretty dang good) but I'm going to fade fast. Thanks for the bad news loki. I blame you for his injury.

Add Matt Gamel to the DL and another drafted starter Coco Crisp.

Lets see in this league that is 9 out of 25 drafted players hitting the DL and we're only 1 month into the season.

hehe, not saying I've been beaten by the dl. Been beat into last place by all around patheticness that the DL is just 1 major aspect of. Even w/out all that I'd be middle of the pack at best right now I think.

Rollins was supposed to be around .330 obp .400 slg. Instead he's sitting with an OBP HIGHER than his slugging (.280 vs .270).

Wilson Ramos and Neil Walker both also have an obp higher than slugging and Mark Teixeira's OBP is a barely passable batting average at .267.

On the pitching side, Max Scherzer has an ERA approaching 8, Ervin Santana is on the wrong side of a 6 ERA (is there a right side?) and Josh Johnson is around 5.5

I do have a few bright spots. Allen Craig is back. Carlos Gonzalez is producing nicely. Probably my best value pick is Matt Joyce or Cody Ross (late pick OF). A-rod is being A-rod in this format. But those 4 are just not nearly enough. Long season, here I come.

This is the 1st change in the places 1-3 in quite a while. That is an impressive run that drussell has made.
My team is maintaining the status quo waiting for Ellsbury, Sandoval and Morneau to come off the DL, for Anthony Rizzo to be called up from AAA, and hoping I have no more major injuries.
Andy Pettite will start on Sunday, and I will see if holding that roster spot for him was a good idea

Khahan, you've had 10 players on the dl and I've had 4 of my top hitters there. 1st rounder Ellsbury & 3rd rounder Sandoval will be out for at least 4 more weeks, starting 1B Morneau just back after 2 weeks on the dl and Bonafacio the MLB leader in SBs out and heading onto the dl. I've been able to stay up in the standings because of my SPs, including round 24 pick Andy Pettite, but will my cushion keeps me there until these players return?

You have a lot to play for because the bottom of the league drops to AA the following season. The MLB season is so long that with some FA pickups and trades getting out of your hole is certainly possible. As for my team I finally dropped to 4th. 1st place is not realistic, but when I am back to full strength, I'll be pushing for at least 3rd to to qualify for RIBC next year. This should be by the All Star break.

They way a player is added to the database is a Commish Tool of the league. You have the option to force through waivers or make them an immediate free agent.

GO, Matt Adams looks to have been handled differently from Yahoo. He was picked up in the AAA league on 5/20 as a FA. I picked him up in the AA league on 5/20 as a FA. Yet Yahoo doesn't list him as being CI/IF eligible until 5/25 (which is not true because he was eligible the day he was available).

There is no other record of him being added aside from in Yahoo's eligibility list on 5/25.

Also, the AAA league is set for a 2 day waiver and all players go on waivers.

Either people just missed he was available until after his waiver period or he slipped in w/out hitting waivers.

Time for some more chances. At this point, it can't hurt. Grabbing Carpenter back from the FA pool. Having him on the dl taking up a roster spot can't hurt me anymore than I am. Allen's coming off the DL tomorrow so I'm just swapping out a slot basically. I drafted him, I'm going to get something out of him.

Mike Minor I just have a feeling about. But again, he's got a really nice K ratio. I'm dead last in era/whip so even if he blows up it can't hurt me. All he can do is keep getting k's and give me some points there and possibly in W's. Nothing to lose, can only gain. Time to start rotating pitchers and earning back my 50 inning pitched deficit. Quite a few points in K's and W's are within striking distance. I won't finish last.

I'm going to pass you in DL'd players pretty soon Khahan, if I haven't already. Every time one of my players come off the DL another one goes down. Now I'm seeing Tulowitzki is probably headed for the DL too. It's tough because not only do you lose the production but you also have to make the choice of dropping a good player or falling hopelessly behind in counting stats.

I love RIBC but it's a brutal format. From my experience at least five teams will be knocked out each season just due to injuries.

That really sucks Holt. At least my round 1 pick has been doing exactly what I drafted him for. But my dl postings (11 of my original 25 players drafted) have only included my drafted players. They have not counted other players I've picked up along the way to fill in missing slots. I get to add another 4 players that hit the dl shortly after I picked them up.

Oh btw, I'm well ahead of the pack and comfortably in 1st place in my dead pool this year. Take that knowledge and add it to my dl prone drafting in baseball and come to whatever conclusion you want. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I'd say its a sign of some kind.

Nice, 10 point gain last night, this late in the season. Now the trick is holding onto those points. But my team has been playing well recently. Just gotta keep that up.

Oh, and I'm now up to 13 of my original drafted players hitting the dl (though I had to rotate ogando out for another pitcher the other week, but at this point I'm fascinated by just how unlucky my draft was. Even taking out the 3 I drafted knowing there was a risk of the dl, that still puts me at 10 others).

I'm still going strong here. From a season low 30 points on 5/23 and dead last (I was about 15 points behind 15th place) I'm now sitting at 56 and 13th place. Us bottom 4 have been clustered up with a big jump into the next echelon (from my current 56 the 12th place person has 67 points) but I'm confident with the right approach I can do this.

My ideal goal is to keep gaining 4 points a day and overtake first in 22 days. But since thats not realistic I'd like to try and place in the area that qualifies for AAA again next year. By seasons end that is not yet out of reach.

Cody Ross should be off the DL this week and in about a month I expect to have Utley and Howard back. I would think Bailey should be back at some point around there too (probably after them).

My players are also still ending up on the dl.I've maintained position on the strength of pitching, but now Josh Beckett is there. However Ellsbury and Bonnafaccio will be back after the All Star break, so barring other injuries, I should start to gain in the hitting categories.

Holt-I believe that you chose Dickey as a FA. A find like Dickey is rare, and you had great foresight in picking him up. I follow the Mets as my 2nd team after the Dodgers, and while I knew about him before he got really hot, I did not like his K/9 ratio and decided not to pick him up based solely on that. LOL.
Good luck!!

Heard Collin Cowherd talking about Dickey's book on ESPN this morning. Sounds like a good one. I'm glad he had that stinker of a game earlier this year, otherwise whoever owned him probably wouldn't have cut him.

Graydog was hyping Dickey last year and I've been noticing his rise ever since. All the way from pretty consistent, to downright dominant!

I feel like Adam Dunn must have felt last year. I don't even have injuries to blame. Just everything bad. Open to any type of trades. Improved pitching being my goal right now, but I'm starting to think about some punt strategies so I am willing to get creative. Not giving up, even if I'm still 16th in September.

I can't get over the hump. Tulo is headed for surgery and out at least another 6 weeks. Mitch Moreland headed to the DL according to news last night. What annoys is that most injuries this year start out with "isn't too serious and should be ready to return in 2 weeks" and then gradually change to "still unable to swing/pitch" to doctors had it all wrong and he's out another 1 to 18 months.

Ouch, losing tulo is a big blow holt. And yes I agree with your assessment of injuries. It does seem like an awful lot of injuries have started that way. I made some draft decisions based on 'not serious' and 'back soon' comments that turned into, 'back in 3-4 weeks' or even '3-4 months'

Beachy is another example. He was pulled with a 'sore elbow' and expected to miss a start and just need reston the 15 day dl. Then its a torn ligament. Then its need for tommy john surgery.

Yeah - like with Moreland's injury. They're blowing it off as a simple 15 day thing and then he'll be right back. I'm inclined to just cut him but if I do then he'll be back in 2 weeks for sure! I don't know if the reporters are being less thorough or if it's just too small a sample size to pass judgement. It just seems like I used to get more accurate prognosis' on injuries.

I think as fantasy baseball gains more mainstream attention there is a more aggressive push from the media. Now they are trying to be the first rather than trying to be right. Seems pretty typical.

Hey all.

I'll be leaving for vacation in about an hour and gone for a week. I have my line up set. but if there are any trades or issues that comes up I won't have access.

Anything major, this is a good league with good managers. I trust you guys to handle it. If its very subjective and you need direction I'm sure the other ribc's will be happy to weigh in.

Good luck everybody. Have fun.

I thought about following suit and adding a mid-season draft recap, so I reviewed my picks at Yahoo.
I found that I managed to make the best sleeper pick in the draft and the biggest bonehead move once the season began.
I drafted R.A. Dickey at 20.08 and then became impatient and dropped him before he took off.
Can anyone match that in any season in any fantasy sport?

was just looking at rosters for possible trades and noticed that drussell's team looks slightly abandoned. kind of surprising seeing that he's sitting in second place. or maybe his team isn't abandoned. I've already been scolded once in another league for calling someone out. turned out that he was leaving DL players in active slots as a strategic choice...

On our league's managers page you can see the last time each team was accessed. drussell and golffreak have not touched their team in 2 and 3 weeks respectively. Still both teams have held steady during this time.

I check it every couple of days so I am following my team. Didnt see a reason to move feliz out of my lineup as I was fine for innings and did miss stubbs for the first bit of his DL so just sat on it because he was almost back.

In deeper leagues I do often tend to look at FA and say "man these guys all stink, well F it will stick with what I got"

Just back from vacation and I get some nice surprises. First is that the DL draft continues. Add ANOTHER player. Yes, Loki, I understand what you are saying. You are losing some big names to the dl. But I've now had 14 of my originally drafted players hit the DL with Matt Joyce (one of my few draft bright spots) going on the DL. Thats 14/25 drafted players Loki. Thats 64% of my draft on the DL and we haven't even gotten to the Allstar break. Add to that 9 players I've picked up also hitting the DL, in a league with no dl spot, a short bench and a deep player pool.

On the bright side, I've broken the 60 point barrier and gotten Chase Utley back. I did miss his first start (in the Adirondacks this past week and the wi-fi connection I had was spotty at best). But he's now contributing. With Utley, Walker, Rollins, and Allen Craig I'm sitting pretty at the middle infield slots. I have some trade bait. I also have some bats who can do some serious damage in the second half.

Ryan Howard has started his rehab assignment so he's not far from joining my team and Andrew Bailey will be back soon, too. Somehow I'm sitting on a 7 in saves and Bailey will most definitely add a few points there.

I'm looking towards a strong second half and climbing to a spot to at least maintain my AAA ranking for next season.

There is always something to fight for in these leagues. This yahoo league is one hell of a league with the issues many of the managers have been having with the hospital, to have so many so active still is a big deal.

Thats one thing I'm trying to do with these updates. No matter how bad it gets you can always do some damages.

Barring more injuries, I think that I can make a move after the ASG. Ellsbury and Bonifaccio will be back. Rizzo has finally been promoted, and he is continuing to hit like he did in AAA. Rookie Yasmani Grandal is hitting like a top prosect, and if he continues, I should be able to trade Mike Napoli for good value. Finally I picked up Brett Gardner when he was on the dl in order to trade him to a team needing SBs after he is back to full strength.

Not an original draftee, but Dee Gordon who has put up similar numbers for me that Jason Hammel put up for you Loki, came out of the 2nd half gate on the DL.

No other injuries to report right now Loki. Just a slow but steady climb up the ladder. I've moved into a tie for 12th, my highest rank (and highest point total) since late March.

I'm only 1.5 points out of 11th and 5 points out of 10th. Both well within reach when I look at the individual category standings.

Joyce back from the dl. I actually have decisions to make on who to bench now.

Now this is frustrating. Last night I have this line:

8R, 6rbi, 1sb, .370obp .550 slg
1W, 9K, 3.86ERA 1.09WHIP

and I LOSE 2 points.

And then on a night when I have a .523 OPS (note my ops is lower than the prior nights slg), 2 runs, 5 rbi's, 2k's, a 20.25ERA and 4.50WHIP I break even and don't lose a single point in the standings.

Yet the stats from the night before drop me 1.5 points. I just love seeing these numbers come up thru the season and how drastic some of the changes need to be to have an effect.

Alexi Amarista is out after sliding head/hand 1st and injuring his thumb. He isn't a star, but I dropped Evereth Cabrera for him. The runner does not get to the base any faster this way and the risk of injury is far greater than than any benefit gained by being able to use his hand. Also the MI turning the DP will not be as aggressive when he sees spikes instead of a hand coming at him. I doubt that Ty Cobb ever slid head 1st. Like sliding into 1B which actually slows the runner down, head 1st sliding is ingrained in them. I lost Jacoby Ellsbury for half the season with his head first slide.
Onto another injury. Pablo Sandaval is out again with a hamstring injury.
I have never had so many significant injuries in one season before.

I'm also disgusted with injury probs my team has run into, but you know what's worse? A player who is playing like crap all season but you can't cut them due to drafting them extremely high and due to their great career. Michael Young is foremost in my mind, but I have a few more who fall under this description. They never get hurt. Only good players go to the DL while these other jokers continue to do stink it up.

Only 1 of my first 10 draft picks has been a positive factor on my team. Ben Zobrist. And he hasn't been great or anything. The rest were lost for the season or have been below average performers. Cliff Lee has 1 win and we're heading into August???? Just kick me in the balls already and get it over with.

Mike Cuddyer is back on the DL, and with Colorado out of the playoff hunt probably will be kept out for the remainder of the season. Eric Young with his stats for me of 17/44 8 7 2 .426 . 659 since picked up as a FA left today's game with a strained intercostal muscle. That injury usually means the DL. It is all going to come down to the last day.

I am up 4 pts in the standings but with 7 starters going tonight dpr should easily get 28 Ks tonight to go from a 10 to a 14 and push me back to a 13 so that is a 5 point swing in one category. If he gets 1 win out of those starters he'll gain 1 pt in that category (maybe 2 if he can outperform jasonprof who has 5 starters going). For me to pull this out, I'll need dpr to drop a ranking point in ERA (possible) or WHIP (unlikely) in the process and hope my offense can muster a steal or two while preserving my precarious OBP lead. If I get one steal and the leaders above me do not I'll gain 1.5 points, if I get two steals I'll gain 3 points.

Great way to end this season. This is what it is all about!

Gained the points in pitching that I was hoping too but JeffGs steals were too much. Good battle and good season

Yes! Pulled it out with a 5 steal night on the final day (one from one of the three steals guys I picked up yesterday to try to get a final bump).

Great battle dpr, such a nip-and-tuck battle the last half of this season, you don't often see a team run the table and sweep the offensive categories in such a large league.

I'll wait for the 'official results' to be posted by Yahoo tomorrow but what a thrill to finish first in this format against this group. My first first-place, it helps to have the #1 pick and grab the first triple crown winner in 45 years, avoid injuries that plagued many of you, and then end up with a killer trio of SP. I've had several top-3 finishes in past AAA seasons but never had everything fall into place like this season. Everytime I've been in RIBC majors, it was all lower middle of the pack finishes so I am looking forward to redemption in 2013.

Thanks to everyone for staying on top of your teams all season and for making this such a fun format that I so look forward to every season. Can't wait to compete with all of you again.

Congrats JeffG. Impressive accomplishment to finish 1st in such a deep and competitive league. Also congrats to dpr for getting 2nd.

I'm very pleased to come out on top in the race for 3rd among the quality of these managers - which I believe gets me to the RIBC. Looking forward.

During the draft I remember thinking my team was set to win on the strength of my pitching. I used 4 of my first 9 picks on SPs and was way ahead o everyone there. Unfortunately 3 of those pitchers were significant drains o my ratios. My hitting picked on the slack, especially the players I picked in rounds 12-14 to fill my yet unfilled SS,2b, and 3b slots. I waited to fill these ignoring position scarcity and lucked into 3 of the best producers for there positions. Trout made up the rest and likely gained me 20+ just on his own.
