0 Subject: RIBC AA ESPN LEAGUE

Posted by: wolfer - [15232619] Wed, Mar 06, 2013, 20:32

Welcome to the league discussion thread. We have 3 people who have not signed up at drafttime and one who has not signed up at espn. If anyone needs the invites resent, please let me know. I guess the majority of people have been in a league that I was a commissioner for.

ywk

The first set of random numbers were
13 11 2 6 1 16 10 3 14 12 9 5 8 15 7 4

ywk
chris
Isaac McKitrick

Let's try to get this order selected by the end of the upcoming weekend so we can start the draft about the same time as the other drafts.

It is.....

My goal is to set the order and open up drafttime tomorrow night and for the draft to "officially" start on Wednesday. Length of time per pick and when the clock should be paused each day is to be determinded, but I want to "mirror" the RIBC as close as possible.

If anyone has any concerns, questions, etc. , please post them here.

That sounds good. RIBC will be two days behind us, but that's good because this league will be much slower drafting than RIBC so we can use the extra time. At some point we may have to go to a shorter clock than RIBC but we can wait to see how that goes.

While I don't disagree with a clock, I will point out the unequal nature of it for those of us on the West Coast. Midnight to 8am for you is 9PM-5AM for me. I'm always up past 9 but never up before 5, so don't expect many early picks from me.

The only problem was the 1 time out. Sure we want quick picks, but if we are going to complain about someone not picking for 2 hrs on a 4 hr clock, why not make it a 2 hr clock. Then we can complain when the picks aren't made in under an hour. This is a "slow draft" and will have periods of delay as people deal with their own lives. Our current average of just over 1 hr/pick is pretty good.
61Andy
      ID: 8102711
      Mon, Mar 18, 2013, 18:53
And I use the word "problem" in my previous post loosely. The reason there is a clock is to keep the draft moving if an owner doesn't pick within the allotted time. That is exactly what happened. If you want picks made more quickly, try a live fast draft.
62Philsphan
      ID: 40261615
      Mon, Mar 18, 2013, 19:00
If you are at one end of a draft, it should be common courtesy to either hang around or have a queue so that you don't hang up the draft. Just sayin...
63Donkey Hunter
      ID: 09201620
      Mon, Mar 18, 2013, 19:35
The 1 time out was a really dumb one. he didn't even have to hang around. The two picks after him were on autodraft so he was up to pick again before he even closed his browser window.

Should we skip Robine's second pick? In drafts I've done in the past, once one pick was skipped, all future picks were skipped until the player logged in. It would be good to not have to wait for two full clocks.

73Andy
      ID: 8102711

as i understand it, its not just on the turns...if a person times out on one pick, all subsequent clocks get skipped until they check in and make up "missed picks"

      Thu, Mar 21, 2013, 13:12

75wolfer

I am giving him to 12:30 central to pick. If he does not, I am moving on and considering penalizing him for the rest of the draft.
76Andy
      ID: 8102711
      Thu, Mar 21, 2013, 13:21
I don't know that I agree with "penalizing" him for the rest of the draft. We have had 3 prior missed picks that were not penalized, so it would be unfair to do so now. However, if he has not made these 2 picks before his next turn comes up, then he gets skipped again.
77Andy
      ID: 8102711
      Thu, Mar 21, 2013, 13:24
i said "clocks"...meaning that they don't get a clock on subsequent picks until they make up the missed picks...effectively skipping their pick by skipping their clock
