Welcome back AKI's. The only thing holding us up now is... we haven't heard from GoldCleats (GoldCoach). I found a new email address in a thread here, and it was only a few months old, so I emailed him at that address yesterday and I'm waiting to hear. If anyone has a better means of contacting him, please do and find out if he plans to join us this season.
Aside from that, this season, Taxman will not be joining us this season.
This means that we will need to decide minimally if we are going to play with 10 managers and add Taxman's team to the FA pool, or find a new manager to take it over. And this is under the assumption that we find GoldCoach and he is in for this season.
IF, both are out, I would like to fill at least one of the two spots. I have no problem with us going back to 10 managers, but as always, we will vote on it when we know for sure.
So, assume(a) we will have a quick vote coming up, one way or another. (b) If you know someone who may be interested in joining us, you may want to let them know a position may be available. And, (c) start to think about how we want to merge Taxman's team in, as that will likely be the result. In the past, when we were ROTOYAKL, we just added the players to the FA pool and drafted accordingly.
I know we are starting late, but last year we drafted a full squad in one week. We have always been very quick drafters, so I still have all confidence that we aren't behind schedule just yet. But, we do have to move as though we are to stay that way and losing one or two managers could possibly blow that all up, so get the word out.
If you know how to contact GoldCoach, please try to contact him for me. I would prefer him to anyone else. If you know someone looking for a competitive league, please email me their information, but please dont promise them a spot, as I'm not even sure one is available. And last, please consider if you would prefer to replace the 11th manager or merge him into the pool, as that vote will likely be in front of you shortly, we might as well open the door to the conversation.

I'm fine going back to 10 teams. I believe Goldcoach usually participates at some level of the RIBC and I haven't seen him in any of those leagues this year either We certainly want him back, but probably should cosider imposing a deadline for him to show up and then moving on if he does not.
Also, because of the aearly games in Australia and then a full week of nothing, all drafts are going to be going on at once. That means that anyone involved in multiple leagues is going to be drafting them all at once. I'm involved in 5 leagues and in a normal year never have more than 3 going on at once. Fortunately, I've been prepping for a few weeks now, knowing that I'll have 5 drafts going on concurrently, so I'll be ready. My point being that things possibly might not go as fast as they have in past years. It's still early, so as long as we fill the league soon and get started with posting keepers and get everyone signed up on Yahoo and Draftime, we'll be fine.

This may be a better way to address this issue... Assuming we either find GoldCoach or, we are able to find a new manager to replace him, would anyone have a problem with merging Taxmans players in the FA pool and playing only 10 managers?
I have no problem giving GoldCoach 24-48 hours to find his way. If the new email I found was a work address, then he wouldn't find out were looking for him until tomorrow morning at the soonest, and he is our best option, so lets try and be as fair as we can afford to be.
With all this, we do need to get moving. So here is what I propose as far as dates...
Tuesday March 4th, Midnight - GoldCoach Check-in
Wednesday March 5th, 8pm - 7 Keepers Declared
Friday March 7th - Draft Start
This gives us another 3 full days to negotiate and trade; new manager at least an afternoon to make moves, should they want to; and two full weeks to draft. We still won't need an official draft clock and we should have plenty of time.
Opinions? Thoughts??

Wow, it never occurred to me that your friend could take over Taxman's team. I'm almost a little shocked at myself there. My apologies Ryan.
I was kind of set on going back to 10, but again, it never crossed my mind to replace Tax instead of merging him back into FA.
I will leave it up to the group. We would have time to make either choice and everyone is scheduled to check in tonight.
So, completely-out-of-the-blue-vote
Do you want 10 teams with Tax's roster in the FA pool, or 11 teams, with RP's buddy taking Tax's roster?

To be clear, my vote to retract was because we'd passed the declaration deadline and anyone adopting that team really needs some time to at least try to work out some trades, as matters of both principle and practicality in this case.
Matt suggested that he'd consider an exception for the new manager, allowing him (and whoever he deals with) to make trades in an extended hot stove for the one team. I was thinking about changing my vote but then I saw that the potential new manager backed out anyway and figured that sealed it.
I'd be ok with that if another comes along but as a relative (sort of) newbie to this league, I'm not fully sure how you guys do things so I'll be fine with whatever the group wants.

OK - This is my thought. The vote was 3-2 as it were, and the manager backed out. Lol, that's so us.
This is my final offer to everyone. I have to leave for work, and I won't be home until 6ish. I have to have final keepers in by then so I can prep tonite. If you can find an experienced manager to take Taxman's roster, make any deals re:32, available to draft starting tomorrow, cool with our league structure, and still declare by 6... awesome, and welcome aboard.
If not, I expect all keepers listed by then and we move with 10.
I'm sorry I started so late this year, that is totally my fault. But this is what we're up against and I'd really hate to back up our start.

Hi guys. just got back in to Manta from a long trip. I thought I had kept Cano, I was deliberating between and Bruce and Simmons and when I was told I had another keeper to pick, I just thought I had miscounted and added Simmons. OOOPPS! When I realized it I figured rather than go through the hassle of changing my keepers I I'd grab Cano with My 1st round pick. Essentially making Simmons a first rounder :) Oh well, that's the story. Back in Manta now and hopefully all will be smoother from here. Thanks Mike for all your help on the drafting end.

Very, very sorry everyone. Today was a nightmare at work. My boss is in town this week, I have two major projects trying to get approved and today we had the executive team decided to parade around a bunch of suits. I never got around to taking lunch. Today was one of the days I feared when I warned everyone.
