Javier Baez (21.13)
With news of Igelsias' injury potentially being serious, I'm now wishing I had waited a little longer to make this pick and selected Drew. I don't usually like drafting prospects because it's so unknown when they will be brought up and if they'll be successful, however it felt right at this point. Tulo is highly injury prone and it wasn't worth it to me to draft any of the SS available. On top of that, if Baez makes it up this season it is likely to be at 2B or 3B which would give him multi-position availablity. I'm concerned I may have to drop him if/when my team gets hit with as many injuries as they are likely to have, but at this point in the draft everyone is drafting for potential, and Baez has as much potential as anyone at this point, even if its only for 3/4 of a season.

Ike Davis (22.04)
Both of my 1B are highly injury prone (Craig & Hart) so I knew I needed to back them up with a 1B. Davis is no sure thing, but of anyone left I think he has the highest ceiling. I expect him to win the starting job and am hoping his struggles the last few years have been due to injury since he never seems to fail for a full season. My If he returns to his previous high level production he
will be a steal, especially since I'll be able to platoon him since he isn't a starter.

Yasmani Grandal (23.13)
I can't believe I didn't draft a catcher until Round 20, but I also cant believe I still managed to come away with both Montero and Grandal. Assuming Grandal is healthy he is a prime breakout candidate who could get me an .800+ OPS. At the very least I like that Grandal is also a west coast guy so I can successfully platoon him with Montero as well as bench Montero on days he will face a left. That should get me significant value out of my catcher spot despite not drafting one til the 20th round. If I can get 70 RBI, 70 Runs and an .800 OPS out of my catcher than I've just gotten Yadier Molina production (4th round selection) for the cost of a 20th and 23rd round pick.

Tyler Skaggs (24.04)
There was one other pitcher on my list at this point but he was less than exciting so I went with Skaggs mainly for his upside. He's a top prospect who appears to have seen an uptick in velocity due to a change in his mechanics. Combine that with a friendlier ballpark and the potential is there. If it doesn't turn into anything then I have no qualms with dropping him.

Kevin Siegrist (25.13)
While looking at the remaining SPs and seeing what my team needed most, I had a thought. I could go for someone like (undrafted) who will get me the innings my team needs while keeping my ratios in check but with limited Ks and Wins (two things I think my team still needs more of). Then I looked at guys like Siegrist and saw they are projected to get 5 wins in 50 innings with a K/9 of 10 and a WHIP under 1. Now if I multiplied that by 4 into a
200 inning season, we have a 20 Win, 220 K season with a WHIP under 1.00. That would be the same production as Kershaw. The only thing these relievers dont get is high innings counts. However, on a per inning basis that is 1st round production! Because our benches are so thin I'm not sure I can work with this strategy all season, but at the very least I can get elite per/inning production until I see a FA worthy of pickup or my bench spaces free up.

21.02 Tim Hudson, SP, SF
and here is the pitcher. I believe Hudson is he first player I drafted that is actually older than me. over his long career he accumulated a 3.45 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. I know that he is not as good as he once was but he is still capable of a sub 4.00 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. if he gets near 200 innings this pick would be even more worth it.

22.15 Tommy Milone, SP, OAK
With all the injuries to their pitching staff, Milone should be a starter for the first few weeks of the season and may hold onto that job if he pitches well. My expectation is that he pitches well, not necessarily that he keeps that job all season. I need some players that I can drop for the hot new player and Milone is certainly a candidate for that.

23.02 Justin Ruggiano, OF, CHC
he is the star in spring training. he provides power and speed. he may have won the starting gig. he was still available. can you ask more in the 23rd round? I don't think so.

24.15 Jonathan Schoop, 2B, BAL
seems like Schoop is getting the 2B job for the Orioles. if that turns out to be true he will be a good 4th MI, maybe even a #3. he is young and showed flashes of power in the past. If this will also be the case in the major needs to be seen. for now I only need him on some off days.

25.02 Dioner Navarro , C, TOR
This year I decided that a catcher is as much worth as a kicker in football. the difference is that in football all kickers are basically worth the same and they all play the same number of games, where in baseball there are some catcher eligible players that don't play catcher and are therefore getting more games than some others and that there are catchers out there that are simply better than others but that only play in 130 of 162 games. this is like a kicker missing 3 random games.
the catchers that are playing out-of-position and the few that are worth a bit more than others were long gone by round 10, so I was confident in sitting this out and get a catcher in the last round.

after my 11th pick I made a short list of catchers that I like and which I think may still be available here:
- Miguel Montero (20.04)
- Jarrod Saltalamacchia (17.04)
- Russell Martin (20.16)

turned out that none of them is still available. the remaining options aren't far worse:
- Dioner Navarro
- AJ Pierzynski
- Carlos Ruiz
- Geovany Soto
- John Jaso

it was between Pierzynski and Navarro. took Navarro because of the better percentages. counting stats may be filled with 1-day pickups when Navarro sits.

Ahh the fun rounds...

21.14 - Kris Bryant, 3B, CHC
Struggled finding any option I liked with this pick. I'm not sure I needed to grab Bryant this early, but figured without any better options I might as well grab him here. Not sure if he'll get any AB's this year, but with the Cubs in rebuilding mode, and no clear cut starter at 3B, a hot start in the minors for Bryant may force their hand. With 3B as weak a position at is is in fantasy, I figured why not take a gamble on one of the top prospects in the game. (I'd also be lying if I didn't say that kdogs pick of Baez right before didn't motivate as well).

22.03 - Carlos Martinez, RP, STL
Still looking for upside in these late rounds, I selected Martinez after seeing him eviscerate hitters throughout the post season. He's had a great spring, which may force him into the rotation. I figure I either get a young firethrowing starting pitcher, or a strong middle relief option for my bullpen, with a slim chance at saves if Rosenthal falters. Nice to have a young player, on a team that should try to maximize his value.

23.14 - Ryan Cook, RP, OAK
After possibly drafting my 8th starting pitcher (if Martinez makes the rotation), I figured I'd better spend a few picks on some relief arms. Unfortunately Jim Johnson doesn't have a clear cut handcuff, but Ryan Cook probably gets the first crack at it if Johnson falters. Even without save opportunities, Cook has been as steady as they come, throwing great ratio's, and high K rates in 70+ innings. Like bullpen arms that can add value even without save opportunities.

24.03 - Darin Ruf, OF, PHI
I like bench players with upside, and Ruf has shown enough power and plate discipline at all levels to be a solid fantasy contributor. He doesn't have a clear path to playing time this season, but banking on an injury to Ryan Howard (likely), or any other outfielder in Philly, Ruf should get the first crack at AB's. I think there's 25-30 HR potential in that bat if he gets 500 AB's.

25.14 - Sean Doolittle, RP, OAK
Real solid numbers last year including a high K rate, and another option for saves if Jim Johnson gets hurt or falters.

21.06 Nathan Eovaldi SP Mia Should be the #3 starter in Mia, probably a reach here but I needed more pitching and felt he was a good pick. Was the hardest throwing starter when he came back from his shoulder injury last year and if he develops his Sld or Crv will be a #2 pitcher easily.

22.11 Marco Scutaro IF SFO Hoping for multiple position eligibility here, I know he's only got 2B right now, but I figure he could play all over. And now he's hurt, was just looking for someone to fill in some innings.

23.06 John Lackey SP Bos Will have plenty of run support hopefully this year and should win a bunch of games, just wanted a roster filler at this point, was surprised he was still around after his World Series resume.

24.11 Lonnie Chisenhall 3B Cle Hoping he lives up to his previous prospect hype, last year he was terrible, though it looks like Santana won't steal any time from him.

25.06 Jackie Bradley Jr OF Bos Hoping he stole the job from Sizemore, or at least gets a regular gig in the OF could steal and hit 10HRs.
