Next step will be random order thingie. I'll get going on that this weekend. We use it for you to pick your draft position. The draft is a regular snake. The rifc teams debated it and it stayed that way.
Here is their conclusion:
With 14 votes in, the train has left the station.
The status quo (traditional snake) already has 10 votes, greater than a majority of all 16 managers. Option C (3RR) was a clear second choice.
So we'll stick with the regular snake. While it has seemed that picking at the top of the order is a recurring preference (when given the choice), there is no evidence that those picking there have any significant advantage during the season.
Over the 11 years of RIBC, the team picking first has won twice, but averaged finishing in 7th place. The team picking 2nd has won once, and an average finish of 8th place. So the empirical evidence suggests that if there is any bias, it is very slight.
Further, in 7 of the 11 years, the team with the #1 pick did not finish in the top 6 of the standings, which is generally the threshold for earning a return invitation. The team picking second had more barbelled results - five times finishing in the top 4, and five times in the bottom 5.

BTW, the reverse of this order should be used for waiver priorities to start the season. For example, Goatlocker will have the top waiver priority to start the season.

Draft rationales are generally done in groups of five picks. 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, etc.
You name your picks and then say why you picked him or how someone you wanted was snatched away, etc.
I will set up a thread for 1-5 and we shall see how it goes. It is required for RIBC so if you plan to get there it is good practice.
Plus they are fun to read!!!

I fixed the waiver order. It is the opposite of post 11 and 12. See below.

I've gotten at least one query to trade a closer to me, but despite my weak saves showing so far, I'm confident that Doolittle's return, Qualls' occasional saves thievery, and Betances will end up as the more-or-less full-time closer in NY. This should set me up for somewhere in the middle-of-the-pack on saves, at the end.
As for the rest of the team, it looks like the Bad News Bears. I don't know how long those hitters will keep it up, but I'm enjoying the ride so far.

Judy - I've found speculating on closers can be more important in these leagues than drafting closers.
Maybe next year Guru makes us a Saves + Holds league and opens up the pool of available contributors.

Everything is so fluid underneath the #1 spot. It seems like I've been everywhere between #2 and #11 in the last 2 weeks.
Can we get everyone to swear an oath that if they make it to the bigs next year they will propose, advocate and connive for an addition of 2 DL slots? It's considerably less of a test of skill and more of luck if two top players go down and you can't even replace them without diluting your bench.

Well, this was truly unforeseen...1st place, will miracles never cease to exist?
My secret? 1st place in W & Sv, while last place in ERA...how you ask? 1st place in IP. The ERA and WHIP will improve, but the Ws may take a hit over time.
Gonna enjoy it while I have it. Prolly a one day wonder.

Thanks all. I started my draft a little differently by taking Kershaw and Scherzer with my first 2 picks which turned out well. Some timely pickups along the way and my team's health played a large role. Looking forward to RIBC next year.
