The Poli Baseball League Constitution Yahoo Baseball 7 keepers; No more than 3 prospect keepers Next Day Transactions - Daily/Tomorrow Waivers - Continual Rolling List - 1 day waiver period Trade Review - League Votes Supplemental draft picks may be traded
Scoring Settings Roster Positions: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, Util SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL, DL Max IP - 1250 Batters Categories: Runs (R), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG) Pitchers Categories: Wins (W), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP)
Trade Deadline Closest Sunday to August 31st
MLB Supplemental Draft Draft Utility - Draftime Player must be in the Yahoo database at the time he is picked in the supplemental draft. No time limit initially, unless deemed necessary Straight Draft, Reverse order of standings
Prospect Draft & Rules Straight Draft, Reverse order of standings To be conducted BEFORE the Supplemental Draft Under 300 AB's or 125 IP to be draft eligible You can retain up to 3 prospect eligible players from one season to next There are 5 rounds in the prospect draft - minus a pick for each prospect you carry over. Any player at any level (as long as they are under limits) can be drafted as prospect. College, International, Little League etc.
Prospects may be called up in-season and can be sent back and forth to prospect list until they meet the prospect thresholds. Prospects may be called up or sent down anytime in-season or off-season prior to keeper declaration. If called up and made an MLB keeper, prospects will lose their prospect status. If you drop them after they meet the threshold, any team is eligible to add them. If they reach the threshold while not on the active roster you must call them up within 7 days or lose their rights. So, for example, if an unrostered player exceeds the threshold on a game that started on a Monday, and the current owner fails to promote him, he would become a Free Agent at 12:00:01 AM US Pacific Daylight Savings Time on the following Monday. If a prospect reaches the limit within 7 days of regular season end, they can only be kept as a regular keeper. Prospect rights may be traded. Prospect picks may be traded as long as receiving team has enough spots to make the draft pick at time of draft. You can trade for as many prospects as you like - however you'll need to have 3 or less at the time of the Prospect Draft

There are no outstanding 2016 pick trades. The official list of prospect rights is available at the Yahoo League page. I believe this is enough historic record to sustain the league.

So next year I won't be using GObama after a successful run with 2 big wins just like our awesome leader of the free world. So i need to come up with a good GO and Hilary related name to honor and support our next president. Better start brainstorming.

His appearance on MY roster is more due to inattention by others than it is due to a shortness of bench.
He probably will get two starts before he returns to the pen. A dice roll of little significance I think.

Did not know this thread was here.
WG
Any trade involving Trout would need to have at least one player in the player rater vicinity of Trout on the other side.
Yours did.
Many others think they can add five guys whose combined stats compensate. That makes no sense because I'd be dropping or benching 4 other guys and losing those stats.
Your offer had a superstar in it. Most of the others weren't dogs. They were true difference makers in at least one stat.
Honestly by now I've forgotten the exact players in the trade, but I was very gratified not to have had my intelligence insulted for once.
I really really don't like to dilute my keepers. Even as fair as it was, it still tended to dilute. Perhaps it would have given me trade bait between yours and mine that would have made that a killer deal. It was kinda late at the trade deadline to make the deal on that basis.

Thanks for the kind words Boldwin. I agree with you in that when trading, people sometimes don't consider things like opportunity cost, marginal utility, or premium. I haven't actually seen a trade for Trout take place in any of my leagues, so I just gave my best attempt at a good offer. Good point on the timeframe issue; I hadn't considered that you would have little time to make any subsequent moves if you needed to.
That said, I'm still looking to consolidate some players into better keepers. Let me know if anyone has any interest.

Trade deadline for this league is Aug 30.
I have six closers [if you count Doolittle prematurely] and can't play them all.
If anyone has room for two closers, (they have their managers nod for now)...I am willing to trade Wilhelmsen and Bruce Rondon for a good hitter, any position.
Wish I had more time to give them to solidify their positions but the trade deadline forces my hand.

Rusney Castillo (my prospect) is at 295 career at bats.
He will likely exceed 300 before years end, although he's been out for a few days with a hammy.
I am putting him back onto my prospect bench.
There are less then 8 days left in the season, so even when he goes over 00, no one will be able to pick him up before the end of the season.
Going into the draft he will be my prospect. Before the season starts I will drop a player and add him to my lineup. No one will be able to take him because less then 8 days before the season ends and cannot take him from me until the season starts.
I just wanted to spell this out so there is no controversy, this is the way the rules have always been, the stars a rely align so well that you can pull this maneuver off though.
Will post on league page also.

seems to me that if Castillo goes over 300 ABs this week, 29 dashes the hopes and dreams of 28's Going into the draft he will be my prospect. Before the season starts I will drop a player and add him to my lineup.

OK well if it's written in the rules I am wrong, but it makes no sense.
1) He's my prospect
2) No one can claim him until after 8 days from 300 AB
3) Less then 8 days in the season, cannot make claims after the season.
4) He would still be on my prospect bench next year
5) No one can pick him up until the season starts
6) I could move him before the season starts.
I honestly don't remember that rule and it doesn't really make sense but hey it's written down there so not much I can do.
I hope the hammy shuts him down.

i think the point you're missing is that he is no longer a prospect once he hits 300 ABs.
he doesn't stop being prospect at 7 days past 300 ABs - that's just a grace period so no one does an end around and grabs him the minute he exceeds the threshold.

I don't remember but then my memory is pretty much shot. It's clearly written above so I have no leg to stand on. I like gaming the rules when it works in my favor.

It's a real crap shoot Tree...
Also the way our league is structured, it's almost impossible to keep them unless their name is Mike Trout or Bryce Harper, not good enough at 300 AB's/125 IP to keep over 7 proven keepers.

I offered nerve Arrieta and 4 closers for Arenado, but it doesn't look like it would have been quite enough, so probably a good decision. Would have probably given him 7 pts, maybe 8, with flipping spots in WHIP and maybe improving ERA a spot or two. He needed Dee or Billy on top to have a good chance.

Congrats to WG... looks like next year its my turn to take it back!
My first non-medal performance in a full season since I joined I believe. Still not exactly sure what happened this season. A lot of misses in the draft with guys like Sandoval being the biggest bust... but I definitely need to turn this squad over to re-boot for another run like I did 4 years ago. Everyone but Kris Bryant for sale.
I did pick up Shelby, Matz and Nola for free in recent weeks. So hoping to fix my long term pitching with a couple of those. I had no worthwhile keeper pitching coming into this season.

New rule thought:
I know I`m new to these parts but I found myself in a weird position at the end of last season. With no chance of winning or finishing near the top during September, it really would have been beneficial (long term) to try and `tank` to gain some draft spots.
Maybe we can put something in place to prevent this idea such as draft position the following year is the reverse order of the standings at the trade deadline. OR put in some sort of reward or penalty for positions lost or gained in September.
Maybe nobody else cares or are happy with tanking!
Thoughts...

We are doing something to counter tanking in Gurupie 20 hoops and Baseball. Its a new rule but some already know about that approach. Its essentially a minimum GP and IP rule with penalty for not achieving the mins.

<62> Last year we started the prospect draft on 15 MAR and it concluded on 20 MAR.
The regular draft first pick was made Mar 20, 8:40 pm. The last pick was made Mar 31, 10:36 am.
So a week seems about right for budgeting time for the prospect draft. And three weeks before opening day seems about right for the start of the prospect draft. APR 2nd?
I think we were working around people's real life schedules a bit last year.

Thanks for posting that. Which team is the franchise that I took over? I can't tell which players I have on my roster.

I'm confused now because the list says Pancho Villa has Devin Travis and CJ Cron, both of whom are on my Yahoo roster. So I'm assuming it's Pancho Villa I'm taking over for. Someone let me know if I'm wrong.

GO...please see your post # 73 above:
"So Tax gets Sags squad and that means Meatwads gets Gator"
I'm guessing that Pauncho Villa became Gator, but I don't know, I wasn't there.
Somsbody please confirm/reject this post

That may be. We lost PV midway last year so those are likely still labelled that way from the season start list. If thats the audit trail then that makes sense.

I would like to reiterate my desire to add some keeper level players before the deadline. I could see wanting to add as many as 3 or 4 different players if I can get some guys I like. I know there must be several teams who have depth on their rosters. I just don't know who everyone is planning to keep.
Also, when are keepers due? I'm curious to know how much time I have to get some deals done.

MeatWads..see post # 65 above..will give you some guidance.
Not my place to give advice..but Bean sent you a spread sheet with every 2015 roster. I am returning to league after several years absence, however, let me assure you that It's an exemplary group of managers..so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out who has excess keeper quality rosters and you probably aren't going to steal anyone.
Best to start now and not wait till kick off to make offers/moves etc. In years past, when prospect draft and then regular draft start, they got after it. Buckle up...neither will drag on.

@Taxman - Thanks for pointing out post 65. The reason I mention wanting to add players now is because I don't want to wait until the last minute.
As for Bean sending me a spread sheet, I never got that. Obviously had I gotten it, I would just go about my business. And I agree, for the most part it would be fairly easy to tell who will ne kept, accept people don't all think the same. And I'm not looking to steal anyone. I'm looking to get 3 or 4 more real keepers on my team because the roster I have is a disgrace. And since there are 14 teams, with 7 keepers each, that means 98 players are kept. Which means there are several players ranked near or inside the top 100 that people should be knocking down my door to get what they can for.
But since my last post a couple managers have reached out to me so it's all good. At least I wont be coming into a league trying to compete with Brandon Crawford and Lucas Duda.

<85 & 86> Read my post in #68 CAREFULLY and you will know exactly what to do now. It says:
"Once GO officially announces that you are replacement managers, you should request membership to the yahoo group (named Poli-BB), and I will give you access. I only used it for file storage. I did, however, mark 2016 prospect eligibility on final 2015 rosters, in case nobody noticed."

Thank you for sending me that link Bean. Does anyone know if Byron Buxton is actually on my prospects? I have him listed on my prospect list on the Yahoo group but not on list posted by NerveClinic in post 75. I'll be reaching out to anyone who might be a match for me in the coming days.

Baldwin (Ungood) has graciously agreed to cancel our trade Soler for draft picks since the signing by the Cubs of Dexter Fowler which means Soler won't be playing every day. He was a high risk pick as it was. Thanks Baldwin...

Hey all. Glad to jump aboard. Some of you know me already, others not so much. I love to trade like crazy so once I see the roster I'll be open for offers.
Email is attached. I'm usually always within 15 minutes of emails and offers, however I do have a dentist appointment today that will tie me up until noon est.
Since this is a political league, I'll say that my leanings would be more towards the conservative side, but find that all politicians are the same, disappointing!
If you want to sucker me in with a trade, my favorite team would be the Montreal Expos, and would trade my next three first round picks for the modern day equivalent of Tim Raines.
My guilty pleasures are lucky charms, Kraft dinner, and stashing prospects.
My favourite tv shows are survivor, Brooklyn 9-9, Suits and Blacklist.
I'm easy to swindle in trades, play basketball, softball and hockey.
I promise to make at least 4 trades this year, make at least one terrible player drop, and send an offer before April 15th to everyone who sends me their email contact.
I hate walks on the beach. I prefer running with a competitive reason in place, and enjoy trash talk.
I think that's all.

I personally would like to see a 2016 thread but obviously it's not the end of the world if not.
I'm just letting the league know I have reached out to a few managers and will likely reach out to a few more. I still have the intention of adding as many as 4 keepers, most likely from other teams leftovers. So I'm just going through rosters and asking about specific players.
If there is anyone I haven't talked to that still wants to try and negotiate a deal, feel free to email me any time.
