MLB Supplemental Draft
Draft Utility - Draftime
Player must be in the Yahoo database at the time he is picked in the
supplemental draft.
No time limit initially, unless deemed necessary
Straight Draft, Reverse order of standings

Prospect Draft & Rules
Straight Draft, Reverse order of standings
To be conducted BEFORE the Supplemental Draft
Under 300 AB's or 125 IP to be draft eligible
You can retain up to 3 prospect eligible players from one season to next
There are 5 rounds in the prospect draft - minus a pick for each prospect you carry over.
Any player at any level (as long as they are under limits) can be drafted as prospect. College, International, Little League etc.

Prospects may be called up in-season and can be sent back and forth to prospect list until they meet the prospect thresholds. Prospects may be called up or sent down anytime in-season or off-season prior to keeper declaration. If called up and made an MLB keeper, prospects will lose their prospect status.
If you drop them after they meet the threshold, any team is eligible to add them.
If they reach the threshold while not on the active roster you must call them up within 7 days or lose their rights. So, for example, if an unrostered player exceeds the threshold on a game that started on a Monday, and the current owner fails to promote him, he would become a Free Agent at 12:00:01 AM US Pacific Daylight Savings Time on the following Monday.
If a prospect reaches the limit within 7 days of regular season end, they can only be kept as a regular keeper.
Prospect rights may be traded.
Prospect picks may be traded as long as receiving team has enough spots to make the draft pick at time of draft.
You can trade for as many prospects as you like - however you'll need to have 3 or less at the time of the Prospect Draft

There are the prospects in that previous list that have exceeded the limits this past year and are no longer prospect eligible:

Below is a list of the prospects that are eligible to be kept as prospects.

I couldn't find any information on Michael Mantuela?!? And I corrected the spelling on a couple of guys as well.

I am sorry, but due to a pick up in work lately I can't do these leagues. I got a couple of big projects I am involved in that just came up the last couple of weeks and I found that I don't have the time to even do proper research. I really like the leagues and I am sorry. I wish you guys luck.
This is for the Political League and 8-Men Out. I'm sorry again. Work comes first unfortunately.

Can we clear one thing up in the rules. This is extremely important. I am fine either way it's just the way the rules read it's not what I thought was correct.

In terms of the prospect, if a player exceeds the limit on a Monday, I thought the rule was you have 7 full days after. The Monday is not a full day, so Tuesday would count as the first full day. That means he would be eligible on Tuesday at 1201 AM not Monday as Monday would not be 7 full days since he may have for example have exceed the limit at 11PM at night Monday which means there was only one hour left in that day.

I am pretty sure the rule always was 7 full days, and this was just transcribed incorrectly above.

Again doesn't matter, either way, just trying to prevent future controversy.

WG picked up Correra exactly like the rules above so could have been at least confusing if anyone had challenged it. Any long time members care to way in? The way it's written you only get 6 full days.

Also in no way suggesting WG doesn't deserve Correra since A) that's how rules are written and B) no one challenged him and C) even if challenged that is how the rule is written currently.

So is it 6 days or 7?

Can we just agree to delay the prospect draft to the 15th since it seems important to some members who have busy lives. One extra day is not a big deal.

OK, just want us all on same page here. There are three orders of business that are pressing.

First Romee has announced that he wont be returning to the Poli League. So, we need a replacement ASAP. If you have a friend...you know the drill.

Second, GO was supposed to be the commish this season, but has turned his team over to barilko. Barilko has gratiously offered to commish, but given this league's history I told him to wait til next year, so he gets a little idea of what herding cats is all about. I will Commish again, and Barilko can have the job at season's end.

Finally, as to the move of the date, I don't see a problem. If anyone has predictable issues during draft time, please let me know ASAP so I can adjust the calendar or make arrangements.

Reposting the Deadlines:

<14> I wrote that rule Nerve, and I realized its necessity due to possible controversy. I believe that, as written, it leaves little room for interpretation.

I do not want to keep track of the start and end times of every game because someone wants to try to interpret the rule to his advantage. You can split hairs over what is 6 days and what is 7 days all you want...the rule has been in place, as is, for an entire season. If you want to change it, get a second, and I will put it to a vote.

Bean thanks for stepping up to commish again.

I think you misunderstood me. Has nothing to do with part days, or what hours, just whether we have 6 days after the prospect limits are reached or 7 days.

In any case it's not that important as long as everyone understands the rule.

I just wanted to clear it up because it is different then the original, and I didn't notice until I heard what days WG picked up Correra.

Let's just leave it I agree...

analyzing the accidental three way trade.

Meatwads:
Acquired - Rendon, Kemp, Fielder, Keuchel, two 9th rounders and an 11th rounder.

lost - 2nd round, 3rd round, 8th round.

Bili:
Acquired - Joc Pederson, 3rd round, 10th round

lost - Rendon, Kemp, 5th round, 9th round

Tree:
Acquired - 2nd round, 5th round, 8th round

lost - Fielder, Kuechel, Pederson, 9th round, 10th round, 11th round.

i think that's right.

fun to see Meatwads doing a big rebuild, adding five players at the expensive of high draft picks.

Gordon, Heyward, Stroman, Franco, and Darvish are probably the best options, with Gordon and Heyward being high on keeper lists.

I feel like I addressed nerves question in the constitution that I built. Barilko/Bean I suggest a new 2016 thread with constitution as first post so it doesn't disappear. Don't forget to add last year winner.

Agreed Barilk. (sounds rude, but that is not intent) You are a newby and wouldn't know about the history of this league, or those that founded it yesteryear.

In reality we are all on a 1 year commitment. Who can say with certainty what any of us will be doing in a year.

There is no problem with letting Fred rediscover why he helped pioneer this league. If there is...speak up.

Nerve expressed approval..are there any that disapprove?

I proposed a suggested rule may help to prevent teams near the bottom from intentionally loosing ground at the end of the season to improve their valuable first round draft picks. I myself was in this position last year and found that I was struggling to stay competitive until the end of the season.

I propose that we simply make the following years draft order based on the standings on September 1st.

I can't get used to calling someone "Meatwad" Do you go by "Meat" for short? Or "Wad"

Basically we don't bother with switching it on Yahoo during prte-season. When the commish inputs on Drafttime, he makes the switch there. Then he has to write in every draft pick manually on Yahoo.

<52> Before the prospect draft I will adjust your roster so that only your Keepers are on the roster. Although I wont be able to make real time adjustments, I should be only about one round behind in putting your players on your roster. You wont be able to see them on your Team Tab, but they will be removed from the available players tab as I do it. That means that effectively you can use Players Tab to check who is still available in the draft.

Hope that's clear

1. Is there going to be a list of players eligible for the prospect draft or is it each managers responsibility to know who is available?

2. The prospect limits of 300 AB's and 125 IP...Is this based on one season or their career stats?

1. Each manager does their own research (list of eligible prospects is all eligible prospects world wide, drafted or un-drafted by MLB team, not kept by or drafted by another Poli manager ahead of your prospect draft pick)

2.Career stats

Out of boredom and curiosity I decided to look into the Lindor situation. He finished with 390 AB and had 89 from Sep 10 onwards, so he went over the threshold on Sep 9. The transaction log shows that I added him on Sep 19 at 10:37AM. So it appears there was a good amount of time when he sat on FA unprotected.

would like to introduce the idea for next season that keepers are due on a Friday night. The prospect draft and regular draft would then begin on the following Sunday night (possibly Monday).

For those that are distracted by jobs, having the weekend to prepare draft lists adjusted for keepers would be a god send. Having keepers due midnight on a Sunday limits draft prep work to be completed around distraction of 1 or 2 workdays/family time (assuming people have week ends off). Seem advantage to draft prep time out-weighs sitting on roster choices over a week end.

Comments please.

If you notice ANY mistakes in my characterization of your keepers in either the prospect thread or the Yahoo League please let me know ASAP with a post here.

I remind you that the prospect keeper thread is ONLY for the actual picks you make, not any other extraneous comments or queries.

Apologies to Taxman

I was really interested and raring to go since January One but with the lack of posts on the Poliboard I got discourged and had to quit checking so often.

I've got a roaring case of pnuemonia atm and was listening to the Cubs/Oakland preseason game while I was bedridden and was so shocked to learn there were only three weeks to go I finally went back to Rotoguru to check again. In the middle of setting my keepers I also noticed Taxman's e-mail prodding me.

I am the guy who wants to see more chatter. E-mail me as often as you like people. Send me your contact info and I'll even get involved in phone expediting the draft.

Once again, my apologies, Taxman. Feel free to poke people early and often.

Thanks baldy. I wasn't looking for an apology and none needed. In my mind, you were just following what the rules allow with no intention to cause anyone unrest.

My post was to highlight benefits to league managers by utilizing a weekend to prepare for drafts...rather than sleeping two additional night on deciscions made two weeks earlier. I've pretty much finished marking keepers off my cheat sheets, but have work to do on prospect draft.

I again solicit support from league on having keepers due @ midnight Friday, before starting draft the following Sunday evening or Monday morning.

Will someone...anyone acknowledge...this proposed change to league time table by saying no change needed..or this is good idea???

The reason I don't have a strong opinion on that, Taxman, is that I don't feel the deadline falls on any particular day of the week, nor has it always been on a weekend afaik.
I'd like to see us get started a week earlier at least and I'd like to see some chatter on the Poliboard lots earlier so people are all up to speed by the time we get started.

<85> Taxman, I did respond to you in #82

I think setting the draft days in stone can cause issues for specific people each season. Two years ago MLB started the season in Austrailia and that had some associated problems as well.

I personally like watching as much of the pre-season as I can before prospect draft. Staying with the team vs being sent back to the farm radically changes a prospect's value. Pre-season injuries do as well for both vets and rookies.

Miguel Sano, 3B, Min
Yusiel Puig, OF, LA
Joey Votto, 1B, CIN
Adrian Beltre, 3B, Tex
Jake Arrieta, SP, Cubs
Zack Grienke, SP, Ari
Wade Davis, Cl, KC

Prospects:
Nomar Mazara, OF, Tex
Julio Arias, SP, LAD
Tim Anderson, SS, CHISOX

You confirmed two trades on 3/4.
The deadline for keeper declaration was 3/13.

If I get unanimous support for cutting you slack, I will change it, anything less and it is what it is. It will be up to you to rally that support by the end of the prospect draft. I will accept a post in this thread by the 12 owners (excepting you and I) as that support.

Sounds fair, Bean. Thanks.

Is lack of disapproval sufficient (given that we can rarely even get half the managers to vote on major league rules changes, much less something this trivial?). The odds of getting any response at all, either yea or nay, from all the managers is 300:1, I would guess.

I'd swap Joc for Adrian, if allowed. It would probably hurt me this year. I may even cut him by the ASB if he performs as poorly as he did 2nd half and doesn't get a full-time outfield spot.

Sometimes I wish I weren't a Dodger fan.

One quick disapproval will likely save me from myself!

There are just five picks left in the prospect draft, so presumably we will finish that today sometime. I will be loading these into Draft Time and the Yahoo League today. I will have to submit a list of players to add to Draft Time then add those to rosters as well once admin there has a chance to do it.

Bottom Line is that the draft probably wont start on Draft Time until Monday or Tuesday unless we are very lucky, and then the first round will be untimed. Given the time the prospect draft has taken, there is a good chance that I will have to institute a clock on the draft (we didn't need it last year). We need to do 2+ rounds a day to avoid the clock.

The clock will be 4 hours and the clock is going to be turned off midnight to 8 AM EDT each day if I find it necessary. I know there is no one time of "clock off" that will satisfy everyone. Please use Queues.

You should be able to check Yahoo League for accuracy choosing the draft results menu selection under Draft tab. You should also be able to check your keepers in Draft Time.

Please let me know ASAP of any issues you see.

I have decided to start the draft knowing that many of the prospects are not in the database but may be added later. It is simply more expedient than waiting for them to be added to Draft Time database.

Some of these players may be added to the database later, I just caution you to reconcile your choice against the list of prospects above before choosing a prospect in Draft Time.

Anyway, the first round of the draft will be untimed. I hope I can leave it that way for the entire draft. If I decide to add a limit, it will be for four hours initially.

I have made my first overall selection. I just looked on the available players list on Yahoo, searched for the player with the highest combo of current and future value in my estimation. I just hope the list I looked at was accurate and I didn't screw it up too bad.

Good luck everyone. I'll see you in the 4th round. I'm always available for in draft trades involving picks, players or prospects. I think my team is likely not a top tier squad so I'm certainly interested in the right high upside guys. Also open to dealing picks this year for future picks and stuff like thar. Generally open to any ideas or discussions trade wise.

I had a queue set on auto draft

Draftime timed out Bobo and forced my selection

How could it time out if the 1st round has no clock...you need to delete my pick and we wait for Bobo....

Not sure what happened there, It was set for untimed, I am pretty sure I checked it. Perhaps there is some flaw in the programming, if not there is some flaw in me? I didn't see what happened but I do see that Bobo is marked in red.

Brinson is CF of future (no later than mid summer) for Texas...who is not going to pay Choo $17 million (3rd year of 7 yr $130 M contract) nor Desmond 7 M to sit on bench and Fielder @ DH. This league shows not a glimmer of urgency in drafting, prospects or MLB. Not what I remember of yesteryear, when I was in this league. Not getting Keepers set timely...holding up prospect draft for 12 hours for not being prepared. More than 1 manager disappear during 1st round of draft. Any one of those offenses used to be grounds to be run out of town on a rail having been tarred and feathered first.

Where have the good old days gone??

I really don't care about a clock. Sometimes that makes people feel like they can spend all of the 2-4 hours, or whatever we set it at.

I just want people who know they will be away from the net for an extended period to have the decency to Q up.

I understand that queues run dry, and sometimes you don't have time to make one or emergencies unfold, but it seems like some folks here think it's perfectly fine to routinely waste everyone's time so that they can give themselves every advantage in the draft by not making a queue, and have everyone else stare at the clock for hours.

i have a queue set. i just don't allow others access to it.

that being said, of my 11:58 elapsed, NEARLY EIGHT HOURS OF THAT was when a clock was running overnight.

furthermore, more time elapsed WHEN I DID THE RIGHT THING, and let those who got skipped overnight, pick.

take out those 8 hours, and making 9 picks in less than four hours is quite reasonable.

Last year that was my Arrieta. I had him picked out and was ready to pick him the round he went which was three earlier than any other draft in Drafttime Peek.

This year my late sleeper that just got stolen was Eduardo Rodriguez. In this crazy league there is always one other manager that is onto your sleeper and ready to pick him three or four rounds too early.

I guess snagging a closer with the job in hand in the seventh round is rare luck if you look at it that way. This league is strange the way it values closers. Years ago as I recall it, the run cleaned the cupboards bare in the first 3-4 rounds. Last couple years you could wait.
223biliruben

Yeah, when far less than half of the closers finish with the job in any given year, it generally doesn't pay to go early for a closer who will wreck your ratios and likely lose his job or get hurt. That was why I liked Smith. Solid ratios and high Ks, so a contributor even if he's only half-time.

Strasburg, Stephen ...Ace

Zimmermann, Jordan middle of the road at best not what he used to be

Hammel, Jason # 4 starter on the A's

Smyly, Drew good upside

Moore, Matt Big question mark

Iglesias, Raisel Great upside. Hope the shoulder is OK

Ross, Joe # 5 starter for Wash, pretty young, let's see

Zimmermann is safe. That's all. never been a K monster. Never was 'all that' at least after TJ. Dunno before that.

Hammel is great but only when he is with this pitching coach. His stamina is suspect. I believe the longer he is with this coach the more he blooms, the more stable he becomes.

Smyly is safe very high floor [but limited innings] with very good K's.

Moore is gonna be a monster. His post TJ velo was all the way back last year and his preseason is awesome.

Iglesias looks better the closer you look. Low velocity extremely high K's throwing from three diff arm angles, with the movement diff for each slot. Hitters can't keep track of all that.

Joe Ross...identical pitcher on a faster track than his brother. So maybe he's better.

Stats say that the positive odds for TJ surgery results are much worse than the common perception. Bad news for me because my staff is very very post TJ.

With the exception of Tree's last two choices, I've loaded players through pick 9.04 onto yahoo rosters. You can check them through the draft results at Yahoo. Drafted players will not appear as available in the players tab at Yahoo.

Tomorrow night or Saturday Morning I will be starting the season and then will drop your five prospects from your rosters. Prospects will appear as available but will have a "K" next to their names. I will add players from your last five picks to your rosters as a transaction.

If you don't understand all of this, don't worry, it will become clear soon.

When you start the league please make sure and set a two day waiver in reverse order of draft. Make sure everyone is aware the clock has started and that players can be picked up off waivers after waiver period.

There was a controversy one year because some people in the league apparently did not understand how this works. We need complete transparency no surprises.

Thanks,,,

...speaking for the league generically..we don't give a shit that you will not be able to pick this week end or during the day next week. <239> Bili,

Try to cover one pick with a queue for tomorrow. I recently made the drive from San Diego through Phoenix, lots of barren land and drafting while driving is just not worth it.

When you get settled in Phoenix, you can make another pick then if you are up. In any case,
I don't see me instituting a 4 hour clock until Monday if at all, cause Easter Sunday is also a good excuse day.

Not sure if Barilko has gotten a chance to assess it, but how many hours would we have saved if there was a four hour clock? I suspect not much.

I think the draft is definitely being helped by the queue setters and even then we are going to be close to going past opening day. We need to start taking advantage of the queue system that is at our disposal.

I've been waiting 5 hours for someone to pick.

I will leave a one pick que.

I cannot leave a second que 23 picks out when I don't know what I am getting in the first pick.

So if it makes it to my second pick we will be stuck.

Given that C1-NRB averages 4 hours a pick lately, that should not be an issue.

I have started the season in Yahoo, dropped your prospects (they are marked with a "K"), entered your draftees up to pick 13.05, reset the waiver priority, and locked all teams out from transactions.

Please check your rosters for accuracy and let me know of discrepancies ASAP. I will continue to add your players as the draft continues, so you should make sure I don't F**K that up too.

You should notice that all available players are on waivers until 28 MAR, but in fact should be on waivers for one day after the end of the draft. Since rosters are locked, nobody should be able to claim these players until I unlock rosters. If you would like to make a waiver claim after the draft is over, send me an e-mail, otherwise you will be able to make a FA claim when I unlock rosters, The exact time of this unlock will be random.

I stopped the draft at Pick 13.13 Pending.

From the rules above:
Player must be in the Yahoo database at the time he is picked in the supplemental draft.

Barilko Pick 13.07 Tyler White, HOU, 1B is not in Yahoo

I contacted Barilko moments ago about his pick and will replace this player with whomever he chooses, the re-start the draft. I will not allow him to select from players drafted after his choice.

I do not know if or when Yahoo will put him in the player list. I think it appropriate to leave this player off the available list for the remainder of the draft even if he becomes available before its end. I don't need you guys gaming this by stalling the draft. He'll go on waivers.

Let me try and recruit the newer managers to my favorite cause.

In my estimation a few extra influential old-timers have 'rigged' this otherwise magnificent league by starving us with too few slots.

They do this to guarantee that the bottom half of the managers will fall 20-40 short of AB's in each slot and give away 200-400 IP's as they lose interest.

Meanwhile these crafty managers, on the years they find themselves winning, will stream like mad from the unfairly far too rich Waiver Wire.

If you believe winning should be about the best evaluation of talent in the first place, please join with me in lobbying for more slots.

If you believe it should be about discouraging the less motivated managers and streaming the Neil Walkers who would not be available in any sane league...

...carry on as before.

I`m generally opposed to more bench spots. We already have 5 prospects that can act as a bench. I find large benches lead to less action during the year. For example, with a large bench, player A is on someones roster being seldom used. With a small bench, the manager must decide more frequently if player A is worth rostering as a more consequential player would have to be dropped to waivers to add player A. It also leads to tougher decisions about dropping or rolling with a slumping player. With a large bench it is easy to just have the slumper sit it out on the bench.

If we want expanded rosters (not necessarily advocating for this) I would rather remove a util spot and add a MI, CI and OF (or two of 3 said positions). This does dilute the free agent pool but also keeps the roster players active and consequential to league outcome. This helps with Boldwin`s gripes, as it increases the need to evaluate talent at the start of the year, reduces the rich free agent pool and a MI spot would guarantee the Neil Walkers of the world are owned.

Baldwin What you fail to mention is that you whined about this for several years and we finally did add a 5th bench spot.

I just went back and looked 2007 for example 4 bench spots, 2016 5 bench spots. I don't understand why 5 bench spots is not enough.

It seems as though your basic premiss is you want to keep adding bench spots until there is no talent what so ever on the waiver wire? (Forgetting we are already taking an additional 70 possible players through the prospect list)

So Walker fell through the cracks. That somehow proves that 5 bench spots isn't enough in a 14 team league?

So we already added one for you. When exactly will it be enough?

No, I don't want people on my bench I never use.

Closers

I do want 4 closers. So right there I've got two slots filled up others don't.

Even that is too constrictive. In order to do it I had to actually keep 4 closers. In a normal league Nerve and I would snarf up 2/3 of the setup men who become closers. We are just that round-the-clock active and on top of it. But in this league there is nowhere to stash him until he closes. Not without missing a zillion AB's elsewhere. I think a person should be able to have a slot where he stashes Strop for a couple weeks.

Batting slots

That's all 4 closers and 7 starters leaves me. Ten batting slots. ONE BATTER'S BENCH SLOT.

So I have 4 closers and 7 starters...but as I've already described...I can't even reach my AB limits with the batting slots I've got left. Not unless every batter I've got plays every single day.

Not unless I stream three slots like a madman every day.

Even if I got two more slots I STILL would have trouble reaching my AB limits without streaming. Zimmerman is going to have a lot of no-shows. I need to fill every batting slot every day. I can't even do that now, let alone when I have to dump two batters.

Like...I...will...have...to...do, if I want 7 starters and 4 closers.

Furthermore obviously I am committed to Deshields. He may only play 2/3 of the time. If I'm lucky.

Or maybe I'd be a better manager if I stream 600 Juan Lagares level batters because I spent half a day previous determining they've got a good matchup.

Maybe you think that's what makes a deserving winner.

Maybe there's no place in this league for someone who commits for the long-haul to a player early.

I just think it's more interesting to commit to a young guy who isn't yet earning his slot and has gone over prospect keeper limits.

It's penalty enough that he isn't yet performing at a high enuff level. It shouldn't also mean that I am completely unable to fill my AB's.

I lost a lot of years committing to Billy Butler and Weiters and guys the scouts were all agreed had such wonderful batting eyes and batting strokes that they would some day win a batting title. I'm willing to lose if I guessed wrong and the stats they produce and I use fail me. I'm not willing to accept losing because it's humanly impossible to fill the AB limits.

Rougned Odor

I'm the guy who identified and believed in him completely before anyone else had a clue.

I'm the guy who would have paid a pretty price to never drop him.

But these torturous small benches made it impossible when he imploded and got sent down.

It aint right.

Baldwin. Basically what you are describing above, is exactly how you want to construct a team, and the rest of the league should change the size of the bench (Which we already did for your once) to make your strategy work...

I am trying to understand all your points.

1) Because you liked Odor, and wanted to keep him on your bench, we should make the bench bigger?

2) Because you draft a player who will only plays 2/3rd's of the season we should make the bench bigger?

3) Because you want to have more closers we should make the bench bigger?

4) Because you want to hold more possible future closers we should make the bench bigger?

5) Because you want to hold prospects who are over their limit, but aren't very good yet we should make the bench bigger?

6) Because you can't seem to use every single AB in every slot (No one else does by the way) we should make the bench bigger?

I think that's all the arguments you made above but I lost track.

Yahoo 12 team public leagues (NO Prospect bench) 5 bench spot

ESPN 10 team public league (NO Prospect bench) 3 bench spot

You also make it sounds like a 5 person bench is only difficult for you to handle. We are all in the same boat.

Is there anything else we can do to accommodate the exact way you want to structure your team besides increasing the size of the bench?

Nerve

You know why you never see anyone from the bottom half rise up and give you problems in just one category? Wouldn't you at least expect someone to specialize in SB's for example?

But no. Always one guy has all 12-14's.

That's because the bottom half gave up mission impossible halfway thru the season and they are missing 30 AB's in each slot.

<319> Sorry if I wasn't clear in #307. We are in the waiver process now. If you want someone on waivers, send me an e-mail by 11:59 PM PDT tonight. This is the only way you will be able to make a waiver claim for now.

I will be opening all rosters for transactions tomorrow sometime. If a new player is added to the Yahoo player list, he should go to waivers initially.

If this is still not clear please give me a specific question that I can answer.

So if someone sends you a waiver before 11:59 tonight, that person would get a waiver one day earlier then someone who waits until tomorrow?

By the way, I didn't mean I wanted to put someone on waivers. I wanted it to start, so that it would end, and hopefully collect as a free agent before other people jump on the band wagon.

Let's add 50 useful players to the mix by cutting the bench spots 2. That's how it is in the league I run.

Nothing is more discouraging than going to the waiver wire to fill a hole and to see nothing available. A short bench encourages us to make moves, prevents speculation hoards (which is already in place with the prospects) and forces us all to compete each week rather than fill the bench with "futures guys"

Comparatively speaking, the major league roster doesn't have a lot of extra players on it, instead it's filled with guys who serve a purpose towards winning now.

Rizzo, Sale, Klubber...it just goes on and on. The problem isn't that they're hard to find on the WW. There's just nowhere to put them when they are available and rising.

And the list of great players I was thiiis close to dropping because I had nowhere to put them. Almost had to drop Cargo last year.

<330>Nerve, we use e-mail for every transaction in TPKL, why is this so difficult for you?
Given the e-mails I received it seems everyone is confused by this, though in my mind it could not be any simpler.

To mark the prospects with a "K" I had to start the season with them on the rosters. The one day waiver period in Yahoo started then. By the time the draft was over, the waiver period was too. SO, WE CANT USE YAHOO FOR OUR BEGINNING OF THE SEASON WAIVERS...GET IT?

I am pretty sure we did it this way last year and nobody was confused then or nobody cared.

I am extending the waiver claim period to the 23:59 PM tonight. I will unlock rosters randomly tomorrow, you will not need a waiver to make a claim then.

Even if you still don't understand this now, that's unfortunate. There wont be another delay.

First of all THANKS FOR THE EXPLANATION. It's all been a complete mystery why waivers are ending by the commish since nothing has been explained. That's why managers are confused.

Second, why are you unlocking rosters randomly? This creates an unfair situation. It means unless we constantly keeps checking in tomorrow, some people who get lucky will have a huge advantage.

You keep mentioning waivers. Some of us don't want to waste a waiver place to pick up a low rent player but we still want a fair chance to grab a free agent.

The fairest thing to do would be to tell everyone here, today, in this thread, "tomorrow at 12 noon I will unlock the players". That way anyone who wants a free agent, and doesn't want to waste a waiver by 11:59 tonight, will have an equal shot at free agents.

Now let me ask you the a question commish (Very good Commish in fact) why are my points above so confusing and unreasonable?

Nerve this is exhausting. Here is a quote from last year's thread. You'll see I am doing things EXACTLY as I did them last year. I have nothing else to say, you know the deasdline, meet it or don't. You know as much about the time as any one else in the league except me, and I wont be making any waiver or FA claims before the season starts barring injury. So everyone is on the same level playing field.

From <312> of last year's thread:

OK, all of your players have been posted to the yahoo leagues now. The league has been activated, but you cannot add/drop players now. The waiver priority has been set as order of finish/reverse order of draft.

The prospects are either marked with a K or not in the data base and are listed as available. If you are going to pick one of those up now, make sure he is yours. During the season make sure he is no longer prospect protected if he is marked with a K. A complete list of prospects is in the commissioners note.

OK, so check your rosters and prospects to ensure they are correct. I need all corrections by tomorrow 2 APR 8 PM. I also need any waiver claims by that time. I will be enabling your ability to pick up free agents soon after that deadline, so any unclaimed players will be first come first served then. I dont want any whining about the exact time of my activating the FA access, if you cant live without a player, use your waiver priority.

Any questions?

Been back and forth with the "commish" over this on email, trying to keep the disagreement on the high road and off the thread.

He can't use Yahoo waivers because of something he did to lock prospects to keeper list. Fine.

So now he will push a button and take free agents off waivers with the flick of his hand. Fine, no other way, I accept that. But why is it a secret when he will do this, why won't he tell us? Why is he the only one that knows.

All I am asking is to set a time to do this, so anyone who wants a free agent has an equal chance.

I just keep getting run around repeat statements about "Just give me your waiver pick and there won't be a problem"

I don't want to waste a waiver pick for the 10th time. I want to pick up a free agent with a fair shot.

I'm not even suggesting he is doing it for his advantage (To have obvious first stab at free agents) I know he wouldn't do that. But what the hell is the problem with just setting a time so we all have the same shot? That seems, so, so reasonable. But I have to explain this over and over to a brick wall who wants to keep a secret.

Why does such a simple, logical, fair request, have to turn into a pissing match?

And nothing, absolutely nothing in 337 has anything to do with why you will not set a time for releasing the waiver to free agent. Nothing.

incongruous argument incongruous arguement.

This is how I did it last year, so I won't tell you what time this year.

You keep explaining things that have absolutely nothing to do with a simple request. To set a time when the release will happen.

Nerve: "Bean. Can you just tell us what time you will release free agents?"

Nerve: "Bean. Can you just tell us what time you will release free agents?"

Baldwin: Good to hear from you as always. What exactly is a "bunkie" that is a term I am not familiar with?

What is my angle? I thought my angle is clear, I just want to pick up a free agent, without using a waiver claim. I am just asking the Commish to give the league a time he will release the free agents so everyone in the league has the same knowledge and chance to pick up a free agent. That's all. Pretty simple, has nothing to do with me being on the other side of the planet. I have no idea why it is an unreasonable request, I am truly baffled.

Baldwin: " do not remember Yahoo having a perfectly reliable time when the FA's appear."

I can tell you because yes I am awake by then. While it isn't exact, it's usually with in far less then an hour difference every night. I would say usually within about 20 minutes most nights

Waiver release at approx 12 midnight, west coast time. Again usually within a half hour but often very close to 3AM ECT.

I have a clear advantage with that since I am awake. But my disadvantages far out way.

I am in bed for all night games, which is 80% to 90% of all games I think. So imagine, anything that happens during any of those games, injuries, closer blow ups, announcements about call ups, announcements about closer changes etc. I am asleep and the rest of the league has a huge advantage.

So yes, in season I have one advantage, Free agents released. Everything else is a big fat disadvantage.
