Welcome to my old friends and...acquaintances. Seriously, I look forward to playing with all of you. I don't think I've ever seen an RIBC league lineup quite as intimidating as this, including RIBC Premier during my brief sojourn there. But I've found that tough competition is a lot more fun than no competition.
Judy...it's "Toral", with a capital-T please.

Next steps are probably to get everyone signed into draftime
HINT, HINT
Paperwork for bad guys is at home, will email slackers tonight when I get there -- 8/9 pm EST.
Then decide date to open the the draft!
Anyone have any thoughts on possible dates? I haven't even printed out lists...for a redraft league...

Anyone have any thoughts on possible dates?
Not really, but please don't pressure us to start a week earlier than everyone else like you do in football.
Official start March 17, with drafting open on March 15? We could actually do later becuz your drafts are the fastest in Gurupiedom except for the small sample of those where I am commishing.
As Ref once said about your football drafts, 'THIS ISN'T A SLOW DRAFT. IT'S A FAST DRAFT WITH BATHROOM BREAKS."
When RIBC picks a draft date, I suggest we start maybe 2 days later. In the olden days, minor league drafts started later so we couldn't "cheat" by copying RIBC drafts. I don't think that's an issue now, and I would bet we will draft quicker than they do.

Aw. You guys are "mean". 🤗🤗🤗😢😢😢
Fortunately for you I am on vacation March 19-24 with iPad internet access only at night on the west coast. I will only have my tiny iPhone to check in on your pace during the day.
So I won't be pushing you as hard!!! But we will have a clock, since I see a few in our group who have been laggards in the past. You know who you are...😡😡☺️☺️
A three hour clock should be fine, I hope I can stay within it, but I do make lots of lists and being close to the turn could be a good or bad thing -- not quite sure yet.
Have not yet looked at big boys RIBC schedule yet, so what if we open our draft untimed march 15, start clock 8 am on the 17th?
Pause only 8-midnight EDT?
Of course a few of you still need to sign in to draftime...can't do a thing til that happens...

I'll go with the crowd, but personally would prefer an earlier start. The first leagues are just finishing drafting now, so I'd like to bridge the gap between now and the later leagues. But as I said, I'll go with the crowd.

Here is the RIBC schedule discussion per Guru:
21 Guru ID: 330592710 Tue, Mar 07, 2017, 14:17 In my initial invitation email, I mentioned that we should plan to start drafting around March 15.
Last year, we opened the draft on the evening of March 14, and finished at the end of March 28.
Two years ago, the draft ran from March 16-30.
I'd like to aim to finish by March 29, which is the Wednesday before the season opener (Sunday). That gives a few days to accommodate delays, draft processing, waivers, etc.
So, I think I'll stick with that time frame, probably activating the draft on the evening of March 14. We'll do the first round untimed, and then revert to the usual 4-hour clock (with an 8-hour overnight moratorium.)
If anyone has a potential issue with that time frame, please speak up now.

Rationales: Judy, are we going to have them? If so could we please have separate threads for rounds 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, etc.? I like to do them but lose interest if they are in one giant undifferentiated mass of a thread. Which has happened....

Hi to all,
I will open the draft untimed on Monday night around supper time EDT . Do not feel you have to draft during the untimed portion, but do know that folks will probably expect you to!! If you are not planning to draft during untimed, let us know in the thread so we don't get mad at you!
There is a midnight to 8 am EDT pause each day including weekends.
The three hour clock will start at midnight Friday March 17 (8 am Saturday actually).
If you are within three spots of the turn, you will be expected to be ready with two picks in a decent amount of time. For Slizz and WG at the ends, you get one 3 hour clock for both picks.
Please use the draftime tools to make queues. One great tool is to have it tell you when you are are within three picks.
Remember that I am not gonna be able to push folks like in the past. I will be out west and not able to get online until evenings. I sure am hoping I don't miss any of my own picks! I will only have iPhone access...
If this schedule does not meet your expectations, please comment in the thread.
Thanks. And happy drafting.

Rationales.
Please do them in groups of 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25.
I will set up a separate thread for each grouping. Be careful not to mention a player not yet drafted.
Thanks.

I don't know exactly what is going on but I left my queue on autopick 3 times and it failed to autopick. I am sorry if I caused all of you to lose 3-5 hours of drafting. I honestly have no idea why the autopick didn't take- autopick was still on when I went back and made my manual picks???? No sure if using autopicks or trying to use autopicks between picks at 15 and 2 was the problem or what???? aGAIN i AM sorry but don't want to take any grief until I get over my Duke loss tonight- which might take upwards of 6 months.

Team BH could use a closer.
Can offer outfield (Stanton, McCutch, Bautista, Puig, Parra, Joc), third base (Gallo or Maikel), or starting pitching (Kershaw, Greinke, Severino, Eickhoff, SGray, JGray).
No, your middling closer isn't going to get you Stanton or Kershaw.

Dead last now... this is how I've been going the last few years. Literally dead last or second to last to fall to AA, then 2nd in AA, then dead last again.
It makes my win in AAA in 2011 that much more perplexing. LOL.

Since today is Monday and a bunch of teams aren't playing, I had to pick up some other players. But I'm going to leave Marisnick on my roster today, as if it were McCutchen (neither one is playing today). Then, I have a waiver claim for McCutchen from Marisnick, for tomorrow. If that goes through, I'll just accept missing Sunday's RBI from McCutchen as punishment for my fat fingers. If I lose this league by 1 RBI, well, at least it'll make a good story.

Mr Lipman:
I hope Judy restores McCutchen to you. If you were a more sympathetic plaintiff, I might even urge her to do so.
But, blue hen, do you not remember being in an RIBC minor league a few years ago, when you urged that such mistakes should not be rectified?
Do you not remember being in G24 and implying the same thing, but settling for excoriating the erring manager for carelessnesss and stupidity. (You did that more than once.)
I hope that now after you have made a mistake, you will have the simple decency to stop expressing such opinions in the future.
I do salute you for being willing to accept the loss as due punishment. That's the shrewd thing to say. That's what I've always said when I screwed up.

I'm interested in making a trade. I need RBI, SLG% and SV. Billy Hamilton is the biggest difference maker I'm dangling, but I'm open to any discussions. I prefer a multi-player deal for the greatest chance at impact. If this matches up with anyone else, get in touch.

Not that it's going to impact the standings much, but it looks like the GP limits for our league were changed on Aug 13 from 176 to 162. Guru asked Judy to update this in April, guessing it happened in August. Make a note of this if you're streaming hitters - you're probably near the limits now.
Worth noting for future seasons to make sure this is correct in March.

Grats Slizz!
For myself, this wasn't updated last night in the live standings but as of today I made it to 12th after languishing in 15th place all season. I went all out on SP's since I was so far behind in IP. I'm not sure I could have done much better. Most of my first 10 picks were either awful or injured. I spent most of the first 4 months of the season with DL players in all 4 bench spots. That severely limits what one can do with boosting IP and GP.
Players I felt I had to hang on to, and the games/innings they missed:
Turner - 64 games Davis - 34 games Zobrist - 34 games Bour - 52 games Dahl - 162 games (never played, finally dumped him mid-season)
Bumgarner - ~100 IP Salazar - ~80 IP

Some years, everything goes right.
I never ever take a pitcher before about the 5th or 6th. But there was Kershaw, and even with the injury, that worked out.
If you know anything about me, you know I saw Stanton's year coming... for years.
I had Dee Gordon in a couple leagues. Honestly, his mediocre OBP and lack of slugging hurt elsewhere, but SB worked out.
Did pretty well with others - Greinke, Gallo, Thames, Joc 1st / Puig 2nd, McCutchen, Osuna. But in the end, just not enough.

I haven't looked at the stats yet, but I am beginning to wonder if this new juiced-ball era will produce a similar pitching hierarchy to what we had in the 2000's. Four or five really great pitchers who are unaffected, and then a bunch of scrubby guys. I can tell you, across all of my teams this year, I had mostly scrubby guys.

Thanks Fellas!!! It is my first ever championship. Now granted I only have played in 3 leagues: 1 h2h, g20, and ribc.
Nerf - you are right with respect to pitching. I just happened to be fortunate and drafted solid sp which anchored me all season. With trout, I felt I didn't need to reach on a positional player and went with premium pitching early on. This was the right strategy for 2017...
A guy did a study of all tout wars teams and the 90th percentile averages for the past 5 seasons:
ERA
2017 - 3.73 2016 - 3.55 2015 - 3.41 2014 - 3.22 2013 - 3.34
WHIP
2017 - 1.223 2016 - 1.197 2015 - 1.180 2014 - 1.168 2013 - 1.187
Even look at G20. My pitching was average (in the aggregate) and still was in the teens...
