Managers: This thread is for your (optional) overall comments on the draft. You may use the questions below to structure your comments, or simply say what you want to say.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

2. What were your favourite picks? What picks would you like to do over?

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

5. If you could start the whole thing over, would you do anything differently?

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

Early rounds: focus on hitting, a top closer, and an anchor SP.

Corbin wasn’t really on my radar before the draft. I had planned on someone better but couldn’t talk myself out of my top 3 hitter choices. Still, I am optimistic on Corbin and think pairing him with a top closer is a good start to my pitching staff. Taking 2 MI early means most of the later offense picks will be closer to the “average” stats I am targeting from each player so that is a plus.

Middle rounds: fill in missing positions, a 2nd closer, SP who stand out

Nabbed a second closer and potential third. Filled in my MI and a couple OF positions. The potential game changers in the portion of the draft are pitchers. If Barnes is the closer, if Lucchesi and Strahm deliver the goods, I will be in good shape. A lot of ifs, sure, but the potential is there.

Later rounds: offensive depth, pitching sleepers

I usually like to end the draft with at least 3 offensive subs, sometimes 4. This year was different. In part, my team had some position flexibility that I was comfortable, but also, I saw more value in some late pitcher targets.

2. What were your favorite picks? What picks would you like to do over?

The picks I was most excited about: Carpenter – he is great in this format and 2B eligibility

Strahm and Peacock – potential to outperform draft position (17th and 19th round respectively)

Do Over: Looks like I was early on Christin Stewart. Also, I’ve become a bit less enamored with Ketel Marte. I wish I had taken Moncada in round 10.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

My spreadsheet projections like Nerfherders, Graydog, Maspero and Toral.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

I’m already on record as being surprised by C1-NRB’s approach. As was said in the draft thread, you can only start 12.

Last year, my surprise was what felt like a shortage of SP. I was probably poorly prepared. This year I am surprised by the available pitching late. I am probably overly optimistic.

5. If you could start the whole thing over, would you do anything differently?

Nah.
