Hey all. A handful of you have emailed me saying you can't register with the link sent out by the system. Not sure exactly what is going on - some can, some can't. Those that cannot, try registering from your phone. Dave R sent me a message saying he couldn't register with his comp, but tried it on his phone and it worked.
If you try your phone or tablet and still have issues, let me know and I'll to send the invite a different way. But this initial invite was sent directly via Yahoo's invite tool.

Has anybody heard from ksoze at all? He did check in to yahoo and he got his team registered at draftime so he's been active.
At this point if we dont hear from him soon I think its best to assign him highest available and move on. Looking over a recent history of his drafts, he tends to like the highest available.

RIBC plans to start drafting on March9th.
If we're waiting til March9th as well, we will easily make that if we give 24hrs.
Had it made it my way on Sunday eve, I would have not noticed until Monday eve when I made my little queue. Still shaking off my spring training rust personally. Stoked for the draft!

The draft is in. I had to cross reference names on multiple sites because draftime names don't match guru handles dont match team names in Yahoo. Hope I got it right (99.9999% sure I did) but just in case please double check.
Also, after the draft selection process:
please use the queue system
There is no clock yet. We'll start the clock monday morning at 8 am EST. End picks do not get an 8 hour clock.

And if I haven't mentioned it yet, draftime has a great queue system. You can set up a general queue for all rounds. You can set a queue for specific picks. Please use the queue system once the clock starts.
Also keep in mind, nobody is under any obligation to start picking before the clock starts monday morning, so please dont harass people until then. Once we start, if you use queue's nobody will need to harass you.

Ohtani - since this is Yahoo, he is two separate players. I'm assuming we also draft him as two separate players? Meaning the hitter and the pitcher can be on two separate teams?

I apologize. I had class this morning starting at 8am. Just didn't get fantasy baseball done properly. I did start my clock without resetting it before trying to make or even research my picks based on who was already taken, just to be fair. And of course ksoze snagged my pitcher right out from under me. But that's my own fault for losing track of what day it was.

Good catch Da Bomb. Draft pause added from 1am EST to 8am EST. Started it a bit late so east coasters potentially lose some clock time to sleep. But its starting pretty early for west coasters who may lose some clock time to sleep.

Draft Ohtani, either one. Essentially both are yours to keep. No need to roster them both but you'll have to plan. I'd recommend drafting the hitter. then days he's scheduled to pitch, drop the hitter and roster the pitcher.
It gives you both Ohtani's without taking 2 spots and most closely mirrors the 1-Ohtani leagues system.
If you see Ohtani on the FA list (say the hitter) just pull up the pitcher version to see if he's rostered. If one version is rostered, the other is not able to be claimed.
To avoid waiver problems with dropping the hitter for a pitcher for 1 day, just email me and I can adjust his waiver time so the owner can get him back.
yes, its a little bit of extra leg work on my part and the owner's part. But its the most logical solution for the 1 ohtani system.

If Ohtani is good this year, and the owner swaps him frequently this thing can go badly. We have a similar rule for prospects in the Poli League, where only one owner has rights to what Yahoo considers a FA.
The way we deal with it is to roster the prospects as Keepers pre-season. That puts a "K" next to their name, once you start the season. We drop the prospects then the commish manually adds the last few draftees.
Do people still pick up the prospects that dont belong to them? Sure, but the K makes them think about it first most times.

I would love something like that. Unfortunately I cannot think of any way to do that in Yahoo. Since we are a redraft league and not a keeper league I do not have the option to mark a player as a keeper.
Relying on people to pay attention *coughIdidntjustsaythatcough* and a little bit of active handling seems like the best way to go to let Ohtani's owner maximize his potential.

BTW, Yahoo has recognized a couple other pitchers as both hitter and pitcher, Draft Time has not.
The others are likely not going to be drafted, they are prospects more or less. However, if they have good seasons this year, they may be picked up as FAs in this league. I assume you plan to handle them like Ohtani?

Please note: SHOHEI OHTANI HAS BEEN DRAFTED. I've eliminated his other iterations from draftime so it should not be an issue for the draft. But in season, he's taken as of now.
meat - in Yahoo I assigned you the hitter as the placeholder Ohtani. Assuming he'll get used first from what I'm reading. If you'd prefer the pitcher Ohtani start on your roster instead let me know. If you just want to keep both on your roster for some reason let me know and I'll simply assign pitcher ohtani to your round 24 slot. But its not necessary to do so.

I've adjusted the draft pauses. Per Guru, we are forging ahead with the 4 hour clock. But I've given a longer time period during the evenings and mornings with no clock to better accommodate sleep schedules for the different time zones we have represented.

Khahan - Thanks. I’m fine keeping the hitter on my roster. My expectation for the season is to have the hitter in my lineup every day, cut him to stream the pitcher, then pick the hitter back up for the following day. Early indications I’m reading is that he may end up pitching each Wednesday.

Thanks for the shoutout taxman! Syndergaard and Sale days before becoming worthless is impressive. I have a long, extensive hate relationship with pitchers. I decided it would be a good idea to do the opposite of what I normally do, load up on pitchers early. At this point I hope to have 3 healthy arms entering the season. I’ll be in the corner in fetal position if anyone needs me.

Did anyone else notice some wacky things with lineup info yesterday? Players were marked as not playing if they had no lineup data yet. Today noticed at least one player not marked at all, even tho if you click on the game, he's in the lineup.

I set Ohtani to FA so if Meatwads wants to use him he's available. Please note i'm on vacation this week in the Adirondacks. My reception and connection is spotty at best. if something comes up that needs my attention email me.

Grats to Da Bomb! He ran away and hid the entire season it seemed.
Despite never having a chance to win, really, I'm very pleased with 3rd place. I had a decent drafted offense, but my pitching was suspect. I had to start streaming SP in August. My ERA and WHIP were so bad I was just going for volume, trying to max out IP, K, and W. Then everything started picking up for me in the last 10 days and I got into 3rd rather comfortably. This league has always been difficult for me to figure out - I feel like I have more bottom half finishes than top. A third place and a potential ticket to RIBC next year is certainly making today quite nice!

Fun season all. I had a good feeling coming out of the draft as once it became apparent a lengthy delay in the start of the season was likely I focused on several players who were injured at the time that were all healthy come the delayed opening day, but it turns out their contributions were pretty mixed: Stanton, Carrasco, Paxton, Rich Hill, Cespedes, Aaron Hicks. Fortunately Harper, Rendon, Whit, Yu, and Maeda were pretty good along with my closer cavalry + FA help in Dom Smith and Kyle Lewis.
