5 questions for AAA yahoo draft. I'm going to expand on them from past years with a few qualifier sub-categories.

Managers: This thread is for your (optional) overall comments on the draft. You may use the questions below to structure your comments, or simply say what you want to say.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned? Were there specific picks that threw your plans off?

2. What were your favorite picks on your own team and that other managers made? What picks would you like to do over?

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)? For your own team are you happy with your end result?

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

5. If you could start the whole thing over, would you do anything differently?

Avoid drafting in the middle. I like having a pair of picks closer together. It feels easier to fill in gaps that way to me. Aside from that early on I wanted to focus on players who can contribute across the board. Good ratios with nice SB is a plus. After a few rounds I like to evaluate where I stand in each category and make adjustments as I go. I think I did pretty good having a well balanced team although I could struggle mightily in the OBP department.

2. What were your favorite picks on your own team and that other managers made? What picks would you like to do over?

I have to like Tim Anderson at pick 128. He's ranked a top 65 players on most sites. Even accounting for his predicated atrocious obp, his value at that point is phenomenal. And if he somehow happens to repeat last years BA, his OBP should be good and this goes to the absolute steal level of a pick. I also really like Maikel Franco in the last round. He's about as streaky as streaky gets. If the season is shortened a hot streak by him turns into more of a hot half of the season instead of a hot 3 weeks.
For a do over pick I have to go with round 2 of Javier Baez. Its not that he's a bad pick or over valued there. But I was rushed to make the pick by own mistake. I have plenty of 2nd base eligible guys who can fill in MI and I got a great value for SS with Tim Anderson. Looking over my team, going a rare change and maybe going pitcher/pitcher at the 2/3 turn with Jack Flaherty and Stephen Strasburg and all other picks the same I think improves this team tremendously.
For other managers I like the solid run of picks by ksoze from 16 to about 20.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)? For your own team are you happy with your end result?

I really like my team, tbh. Its well rounded and should be very competitive. Other than my own I also like Ksoze. His mid and late teen picks gives him a lot of depth and I think a more solid floor than most teams. He has better quality low end guys. Mighty Meatwads seems like another very well-rounded team that should be dangerous in all categories. No team stands out as "the" team to beat. But no team stands out as, "has this guy every played fantasy baseball before?"
4. What surprised you most about the draft?

The closer run seemed to start a little late this year. That and how close all teams seem on paper. There's usually 1 or 2 teams that stand out as the best and one or two that stand out as 'wtf were you thinking?" But this is going to be a very competitive season if we have one.

5. If you could start the whole thing over, would you do anything differently?

Just Javy Baez.
