Here's the tentative schedule PD posted last year. Don't know how close we stuck to it, but you can figure we need to do these steps 10 days earlier this year with those Seoul games. So,for example, the keepers would be due on March 3rd vs Mar 13th.

"The solution is simple. When people do this we just put a stop on their ability to pick up FAs for a week. Second time they do it, its two weeks, etc.
They don't like it, they quit and the problem goes away.

The Poli Baseball League Constitution
Rule Changes
In order for a new rule or rule change to pass, we need a majority the league (not voters) to vote yes. This is currently 8 of 14. The manager who proposes the rule should make a reasonable effort to publicize that there is a vote going on. If a majority do not vote for the proposal within a week, the proposal fails.

As with our new rule, managers can keep prospects for the entire season in which they exceed their stated prospect level limits. So, if your prospect hits the limit in May, you may still hold his rights as a prospect until the beginning of the following season. Prospects may be called up or sent down anytime in-season or off-season prior to keeper declaration. If called up and made an MLB keeper, prospects will lose their prospect status.
Prospect rights may be traded.
Prospect picks may be traded as long as receiving team has enough spots to make the draft pick at time of draft.
You can trade for as many prospects as you like - however you'll need to have 5 or less at the time of the Prospect Draft

BTW,
I learned that Yahoo has changed some things with off-line drafting keeper leagues.
During the draft of the G20 Hoops League, I learned that loading players with the draft tool as the draft progresses, no longer works as expected.
Unless you start the league, THEN do regular player adds, the entire rosters from the previous season will not appear in available players. So, that means, even if a guy was not kept, he will not appear as available.
Having someone doing regular player adds as commish is a clunky solution, that requires more work.
If I were to guess, you'll need to track available players on your own this season. Easy way is to load a pre-ranked players list to draft time. Of course, you won't see the player stats so easy.

Go read right above here it says the 13th. I looked quickly and that's what I saw.
I didn't read further and see that the prospect draft starts the 4th. Why doesn't it say prospect keepers due the 3rd?
So what is it? Are the keepers due the 13th? Like it says in 2 different places? Or are they due now?
It doesn't really work to be so snarky Bean, when you can see the directions were written poorly, and it's easy to get confused.

Pretty sure C1 is not entitled to keep Luis Morales as his prospect keeper. Take a look at post 57 of 2023 Political Baseball League Prospect Draft thread.
Morales was his 9th prospect, and he had to give him back. He will need to be given another draft pick in this year's prospect draft as a result.

Just want to say, there was a joke here, that maybe only C1 and I heard the punch line from.
The controversy that dated back to last year's prospect draft was that C1 drafted a guy with his unauthorized 9th pick of the prospect draft.
As a result, he illegally kept the 9th prospect as a prospect keeper this year.
The late discovery of this discrepancy required that he be given an additional pick in this year's prospect draft.
In an ironic, perhaps intentional, but, none the less hilarious event.....He drafted the guy that the whole controversy started with.....Luis Morales with this additional pick.

As I'm loading keepers, I came across a question.
WG and I made a trade after keepers were declared and before the prospect draft. I got Ruiz and his first round prospect pick and he moved up in the draft in the first round of the prospect draft.
We both end up with the right number of prospect picks, so easy peasy, right? Nope.
Technically I now have too many keepers and WG has too few. Several ways to fix this.
Easiest way is to give my last draft pick to WG for the regular draft.
Or, I can drop a guy and he can get another keeper from his squad last year.
I'm inclined to go with option one but throwing it out for discussion while we still have time.

BTW, there was only one Shohei in Draft Time this year, the DH. C1-NRB kept both Shohei's in 8Men Out and had to add another Shohei.
With an eye toward St Patrick's day, he added Shay O'Tanny, SP. So if the player is needed, you can just use that one.

It just seems like an honest mistake that none of us really thought through at the time. Technically the trade shouldn't have happened because it involves PD getting an 8th keeper, and it involves changing keepers after the deadline.
It's done now, no way to reverse it but I actually think that the second solution is closer to the original rules. PD should drop one keeper to get back to 7 and WG should take a 7th keeper from his dropped list?
The rules only allow 7 keepers so I am not sure how PD gets 8 before the draft?

This wasn't even mid-draft. This was post-keepers, pre-draft.
An honest mistake, but a mistake nonetheless.
I finished keepers (including whatever prospects are in the drafttime system) and trades and will doublecheck in a sec. Give me like 5 minutes and I'll start the draft.
We usually start clockless, but I think some clock is necessary with this later start so we'll have a long clock with an overnight pause.

If you pay attention to picks 15-22, you should see which of your prospects were in the database and marked with a "K".
You'll only have the rest of this evening to let me know if you see an error.
I'll be dropping all of your prospects, and will be doing regular player adds for the remainder of the draft. You should be able to use the player list to see who is still available afterward. Remember to look for the "K", like you do during the regular season.

If a player is on the FA list and looks far too good to be there, they are likely on someone's farm team. Don't pick up players with a K.

I was keeping an eye on the draft progress regardless of e-mail pings, however I felt that whe I was getting notified it was rather late.
Wondering if anyone else saw this as a challenge/issue?

I remember creating web pages back in the early days of the internet using HTML (mid 90s), before they had all the editing tools. Never advanced my skill set since,though.
Nowadays, seems you could easily script a drafting tool. Could data mine the Yahoo player lists to provide a player list for the draft tool.
MattG is using a tool for some of his commish functions, but he just uses broadcast e-mails to remind folks it's their turn while drafting. No clock function, however.
Essentially he uses for the regular draft, what we use for prospect draft, only everyone is OBLIGED to send out a reply all e-mail, once they have made their pick.
Food for thought.

I literally went to the league, knowing that moves were locked, just to see if Jax was available and I see multiple moves including Jax being grabbed when moves were supposedly locked.
The way this was done, anyone who tried, even though Bean said moves were locked, got FA players including a new closer.
So we just let anyone who happens to grab players, after Bean said moves are closed have them?
What happened to waivers?
We've been doing this 20 years guys. SMH

We intended to set it up so that all players were on waivers to start. I unlocked the teams so that waiver claims could be made and then the waiver period ended for unclaimed players, essentially, at the same time and so they became FAs and free to claim by anyone.
It sounds like the waivers never ran, and players were just FAs to start.
We don't necessarily have to run automatic waivers right now, as I can will treat any FA pickups as waiver pickups and run them manually and reorder the waiver priority manually.
If you have a problem with that, then drop any players you don't want as your waiver choices.
This isn't a hard fix. BUT SEND ME YOUR WAIVER CHOICES, IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE, SO WE CAN ASSIGN PLAYERS IN WAIVER WIRE ORDER.
I can easily run these late tonight and have everything re-set for tomorrow's game.
I'll post this via Yahoo too.

Historically, we have to do the post draft waiver period manually. Guess the way I explained it to PD was confusing, unless he found another way to do it.
We could just give Jax to the guy who has Duran. Seems that would be the fairest way to resolve this. ;)

I am not blaming the people who did picked up players but it's patently unfair. The obvious solution is to reset picks back to end of draft and start a new waiver clock.
Why has this never happened in 20 years in all the other leagues I've been in?

This does seem to be doable with the way Yahoo has set things up. They have a setting for "Continuous waiver" which allows all waivers to run on a particular day (or days) of the week, and this can be set ahead of time after a draft. After that, we can switch back to the standard waiver setting.
Only one manager has sent me an explicit list of waiver choices. That's fine--I can run these as though the FA pickups, in order, are waiver priorities but since a FA pickup by definition locks all other managers from choosing that player it would be good to get lists from folks...

I need a little clarification on the initial waiver order. Is the initial waiver order the reverse of the draft, or the draft order (i.e., the finish of last year, or the opposite)?
Am not seeing any real confirmation on the threads I've looked through. And it appears we might have done it differently in the past.

In 2021, the first contested waiver claim was won by Nerve (1) over Meat (3)... which corresponds to a waiver priority equal to 2020 finish. I couldn't quickly figure it out for 2022 and 2023. In 2023 there was only one contested waiver claim and it occurred mid year, so hard to glean information from that.
