I can read what Mike Shanahan said about his benching of Donovan McNabb. But I can’t understand why he would think that Rex Grossman would be better equipped then McNabb to handle the pressure of a two-minute drill. And it didn’t help his cause when Grossman promptly fumbled on his first play to give Detroit a “that’s the game” TD. I’m not going to dwell on the issue here, because I suspect it’s going to be scrutinized ad nauseum in the mainstream sports media. But Rodney Harrison’s quote last night sheds some contrasting perspective: “I wouldn’t put Rex Grossman in a two minute offense in a high school game.”

Meanwhile, LeBron James finally had his first game with at least 40 RotoHog Salary Cap points (RSCP) – exactly 40. (For oldtimers, that is equivalent to 40 TSNP.) Last season, he only had one sub-40 TSNP game in his first 15 games. While the season is still very young, it’s looking like he may have trouble justifying first round fantasy draft credentials, let alone top-3. His RSCP average ranks 35th so far. In standard 8-category roto leagues, his averages produce a current ranking of #32 on the ESPN Player Rater (just one spot ahead of Dwyane Wade, interestingly enough.)
