Quote of the day
"There are a lot of people here who are certainly going to suffer and suffer consequences." -- Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, after a 45-7 loss in Green Bay

Daily blurb
Enough of the talk about how much “individual talent” the Cowboys have. The facts show that the team is awful. Remember when there was speculation that Dallas could have a home game in the Super Bowl? How laughable is that now?

You’ve got to feel for Detroit. Kicker Jason Hanson leaves the game with a knee injury, leaving DT Ndamukong Suh to attempt an extra point in the 3rd quarter – which hit the right upright. That missed point allowed the Jets to be able to tie the game at the end of regulation with a 36-yard FG. And the Jets then won the toss and then the game after just 2 minutes of OT.

Michael Vick picked up right where he left off several weeks ago. He threw for a TD (17/29, 218 passing yds), he ran for a TD (74 yds on 10 carries), and he led the Eagles to a 2-point win over Indy.

In the NBA, Pao Gasol managed a triple-double last night (20p-10a-14r), and he did it in only 33 minutes, since the game was a blowout win over Portland. You could make a case that he’s off to the best start of any NBA player so far this season, leading in total RSCP with an average of 51/game. The ESPN player rater (8-cat roto scoring) says that the best player so far is Rudy Gay, whose advantage over Gasol is due to his superior treys and steals. Rajon Rondo could be in the conversation if he could only make free throws. In fantasy point scoring, that doesn’t hurt him so much, but in roto leagues, it’s quite an anchor.

I guess the NBA has decided to butt heads with Monday Night Football this fall, with six games scheduled tonight. My recollection was that Mondays tended to be light for the NBA until MNF was done, but that doesn’t appear to be the case this season. Maybe I’m just “misremembering.”

My apologies 2007 was the only schedule I had a at work.
The last two seasons:

11/3/2008 ….. 6
11/10/2008 ….. 5
11/17/2008 ….. 3
11/24/2008 ….. 7
12/1/2008 ….. 3
12/8/2008 ….. 4
12/15/2008 ….. 9
12/22/2008 ….. 6
12/29/2008 ….. 8

11/2/2009 ….. 5
11/9/2009 ….. 5
11/16/2009 ….. 3
11/23/2009 ….. 4
11/30/2009 ….. 4
12/7/2009 ….. 4
12/14/2009 ….. 7
12/21/2009 ….. 5
12/28/2009 ….. 7

6 looks to be a little bit more than "normal" but not all that far out of line.
