Quote of the day
"I practice that every day. We have our 3-point shooting contests. I win a few." -- Utah forward Paul Millsap, who was 3-3 beyond the arc while scoring 46 to lead Utah to an overtime win in Miami

Daily blurb
LeBron got his first triple-double of the year, and although the game went into overtime, he had the TD in regulation. But that was not really the story of the game. Utah trailed (on the road) by 22 points in the second quarter, and still came back to win in overtime. Paul Millsap scored a career high 46 points – and that included three treys (3-3). All three were dictated by the game situation, taken in the final 30 seconds of regulation when Utah stormed back from an 8-point deficit. So 3-3 may end up being his season totals in 3-point shooting. Or, maybe he’ll now feel empowered. His prior career totals from beyond the arc were 2-20 over four seasons, however.

When the Timberwolves go to play the Lakers in L.A., you assume the fourth quarter will be contested between scrubs. Not so last night. Minnesota led after the 1st quarter, and although the Lakers came back in the second quarter, they were never able to gain enough margin to go on cruise control. Kevin Love had a monster effort in his return to his college town, with 23 points and 24 boards.

Indiana shot 20-20 from the field against Denver in the 3rd quarter last night before Josh McRoberts clanged a 3-point attempt in the final two seconds. (I didn’t see it, so I’m guessing he clanged it – but maybe it was a whiff.) The Pacers scored 54 in that frame, “paced” by 24 from Mike Dunleavy. The team scored “only” 59 in the first half, so they were already at 113 when the 4th quarter began. That was Denver’s total for the entire game.
