Quote of the day
"It's one game and those are all Olympic-caliber players and they looked good out there. Neither of them shot the percentage they'd like to out there, but it's one game and they haven't even practiced with each other yet." -- Milwaukee coach Scott Skiles, after a loss to the new Billups/Carmelo version of the Knicks

Daily blurb
The NBA trade deadline is this afternoon, and thereís already been a lot of activity Ė enough that it almost feels like you canít tell the players without a scorecard.

At the beginning of the season, itís common to overreact to a good game from a player and assume that itís the new normal. So I donít want to assume that the fantasy impact for Billups is a plus, Carmelo is neutral, and Amare is negative Ė but thatís how it looks after one game. Of course, as Scott Skiles remarked, they havenít even practiced together yet. Then again, with the Knicks playing 8 times (and traveling 7 times) in the next two weeks, practice time is going to be hard to squeeze in.

The Mayakoba Golf Classic is underway. 200+ GuruGolf teams have been populated with only 68 different golfers this week, headed by J.J Henry, on roughly 45% of all foursomes. He seems like a surprising guy to be so widely owned, but he hasnít missed a cut yet this year (in five events), heís averaging better than 4 birdies per round, and heís tentatively scheduled to play next week as well, so it does make sense.

If you are looking to play in one of the RotoGuru Invitational Baseball Challenge (RIBC) qualifying leagues this year, signups are now underway. You can check in here to see if youíve pre-qualified for a AAA league. Then find the thread for the league you want to join and sign up.
