Quote of the day
"I was like: 'Man if we lose, nobody is going to care' " -- San Antonio guard Tony Parker, after getting his first career triple-double (27-12-12) in an 8-point win in Houston

Daily blurb
Fantasy football leagues typically finish with a single-elimination playoff bracket, and the RIFC leagues are no exception. It’s not a particularly fair way to reward full-season excellence, but it’s traditional, and some say that it’s part of the appeal of fantasy football, because if you can get into the playoffs, anything can happen.

This year, the four #1 seeds in the four RIFC leagues all survived (barring any Thursday morning stat changes). Two of the #2 seeds lost, two of the #3 seeds lost, and three of the #4 seeds are now gone. I think it’s somewhat unusual to have all of the #1 seeds survive round one. I know that in each of the past two seasons, the #1 seed in the RIFC lost its first round playoff game. And this year, it was a very close call (decided by less than 3 points.) It’s maddening to steamroll though 13 weeks only to have it all go up in smoke in one weekend. So to those of you who met an untimely demise this weekend, my condolences.

Football Pickoff is no such animal, as it rewards consistent performance over the entire season. No single week assumes elevated relevance. Less than 40% of slates posted positive scores in week #14, headed by last year’s champion, blondiescookies2, who scored +481 points on 13 correct picks. But most of the full-season leaders fell back a bit this weekend.
