Quote of the day
"I've never cried after a win. I was thinking, 'Here we go again.' " -- Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez, after the team pulled out a win over Seattle on a late FG

Daily blurb
No Football Pickoff slate had all four games picked correctly. The top score of the week was +228 from HooeyPoo, who doubled Baltimore over Denver, but then didn’t know when to quit when he picked Houston over the Patriots. Only one slate had all four games picked incorrectly, however.

Heading into Conference Championship week, Balrog is hanging on to a slight lead, now 34 points. Just two weeks ago, that lead was 375, which had to feel pretty secure. Now he’s just hoping to channel his inner Falcon and eke out a late win. And since neither of the top two contenders can afford to coast at this point, the third and fourth place teams also come into the picture. It reminds me of Final Jeopardy in those situations when the top two contestants are close in score, thereby creating an opportunity for the third place contestant to vault ahead if both of the top two falter.

By the way, the midseason contest is really close, with only 9 points separating the top two, and only 101 points separating the top five.

Is the KDog really making the picks?
Balrog went into a prevent defense and just like real football it only prevents a team from winning.
With only 3 games remaining there is little room for differentiation and could come down to "double or not double?????".

Not doubling last weekend is the only thing that kept me (barely) in first. And yeah, way too conservative the last three weeks. If I hadn't picked at all in the playoffs, I'd have a 270 point lead. Ack!

“A happy wife is a happy life,” J.J. Redick said after the Orlando Magic finished practice today.

Redick spent a precious Magic off-night at the Bieber concert, but there were mitigating circumstances. Redick's wife, Chelsea, wanted to go.

Last game of Football Pickoff.
Trailing Balrog by 34 points I have to decide:
1. Go with who I think will win?
2. Go with the opposite of who I think Balrog will pick just to give myself a chance?
3. Anticipate that Balrog will try to block and go with the opposite.

Interestingly I have a 2nd team that leads the midseason contest by 1 point and Balrog by 30.
Not sure if I should split my picks or go with the same team.

Given our point differential, the only sure way for me to win it all is to pick the winning team and double them.
