Quote of the day
"We believe in [David Ortiz]. He's going to come out of it. He's had 60 at-bats. A couple of years ago I had 60 at-bats and it was me hitting .170 and everybody was ready to kill me, too. Then what happened?" -- Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia. He won the AL MVP that season

Daily blurb
Since they last met on Monday night, I assumed that the Cavs and Celtics would meet for game #3 in Boston tonight. But when I looked at tonight’s schedule, I saw only one game – Spurs at Suns. So then I figured it must be the 8pm game on TNT tomorrow. But no, there’s only one game tomorrow night, and that’s Atlanta at Orlando. The Cavs-Celtics game isn’t until Friday. And on none of the next three nights are the Lakers and Utah playing. What’s up with that? To the extent that the Celtics are old, the extra rest can’t hurt.

Speaking of aging Celtics, I just heard someone comment on a radio show that Kevin Garnett still isn’t 100%. The response was “He is when Antawn Jamison is guarding him!”

The Players Championship tees off tomorrow morning. While there seems to be a lot of overlap in the field from last week, make sure you check your foursome.

If they hadn't started their series early (Saturday) the Cavs and Celtics would be playing game 2 tonight. Ditto for the Jazz and Lakers, had they not started their series early (Sunday) they would be playing game 2 tomorrow. It's pretty easy to figure it out if you look at the entire playoff schedule as a whole. The NBA has long had a policy of starting a series early if necessary to fulfill commitments to TV partners who want weekend games and it follows the same basic template from year to year.
