Subject: Draft Strategy's

I was setting up a team today so I thought I'd discuss some strategy's.
Using Gleem.net's Track Splits I am working on a list of average finish for the first four races of the season. This doesn't include Daytona though, Daytona is too unpredictable.
My plan is to have two top tier drivers and select the other four drivers based on thier success at the first four stops. After that I have the trades to go to drivers who have had success at the next four races.
What is everyone else doing? |

I'm planning on a team I can hold through Las Vegas, possibly Atlanta. I'll probably look at 2 guys who are sure bets and then 2 who look to be favorable, then 2 that are "off the TSN radar", but should have an increase over their 2001 season (like Johnson, K.Wallace, etc.). BTW, I think Harvick is way cheap IMO for what he should do this season. He's likely to be on both of my teams from the start and likely to stay there for some time.

I like Ward Burton at 3.05 mil.
I took the first four races, after Daytona, and averaged the averages for each race over the past four years all together. And Burton is only behind Jarrett and Harvick.

Who would you go with to start to season, Stewart or Jarrett.
Jarrett was good early last year, not sure about Stewart.

Jarrett has a much better avg. finish in the first four races, and he's cheaper.

Stewart will be big this year. He's going to make a run at the Cup, IMO. If you want someone to hold all year, I would go with Stewart, otherwise, you may want to save some cash and go with DJ.

One name I'll throw out there that looks like a near-must pick to me is Kenny Wallace. $1.26 million for a guy that finished as strong as he did last year is a steal, plus the #1 car usually ends up in Victory Lane or close to it at the Rock. 11th place in the owner standings last year for the #1 team also means he won't be missing any races to start out.

Ira, Robby Gordon's a punk. ;) Stewart and Jarrett are solid picks. Keep an eye on DJ though to make sure he doesn't trail off like he did last season. Johnson, Wallace, and Gordon are good picks for the price. Mayfield is the only question mark to me and it's mainly because of his lackluster performance last year. Keep a close eye on him. If he starts slow, he'll likely stay that way. Also, there's a drawback to Wallace if Park makes it back. He's signed for the entire season, but I don't know if that guarantee's him a ride all season. I might draft him, but will have to see how Park is doing first (there's "talk" that he might actually make Daytona!).

Jarrett seems like he always gets off to a hot start. I think I'll be drafting him
