OK gang, heres my sorry status:

jG/BWard/MKenseth/RNewman/RGordon plus 1.62 mill, an open slot where I sold KWallace and 2 trades in the bank.

Either I :
A) buy someone for 1.62mill or under OR
B) sell another driver, buy JJohnson and someone dirt cheap.

Thinking is to sell RGordon, buy JJohnson and ????
RMast for .3 or KPetty for .72 or Buckshot for .77 or HStricklin for 1.04.

since there arent alot of choices in the under 1.6 range, it pretty much means adding one of those fellas anyway, so I'm thinking that JJ is a better pt maker then RGordon is...hence it would be an overall improvement to my team.

any of you expoerienced NASCAR players care to share some insights/'words of wisdom' here?

12th in my div and 5700 WWR w/2709 pts. WOuld really like to work my way into the top 1000 anyway. (I'm playing in a NET division so the buying of trades is NOT an option.)

thanks in advance folks!

Here's my thoughts:

Jimmie Johnson has never raced at DAR. That's bad. Robby Gordon has 2 races at DAR. Not good, but not bad. DAR is a lot about experience and neither driver has a lot.

Given that, you're essentially trading Gordon for Johnson since you could already pick up a cheapie like Mast, Petty, or Buckshot (UGH!) so I would just save your other trade and just pick up the cheapie and hope that the 2 start experience pays off for Gordon more than Johnsons lack of any starts. Personally, I just don't see Johnson significantly outpointing Gordon at DAR with no WC experience on the track.

FWIW, of the cheapies you mentioned, I would grab Mast or Petty. Both have significant experience (14+ races) at DAR. Hut is another decent pick with 10 races, but Buckshot has only 3 races.

I only have 2 questions for you sarge:

1. Who is "BWard?"
2. How did you get into this mess?

Seriously though, lots of options.

1. Use a cheapie in the open spot

I can see pluggin' in either Petty or Skinner here. I don't like the other choices (Jones/Stricklin etc). I wouldn't be thrilled with adding Petty or Skinner, but it would be a viable option, and would save the 2 trades you have. That will become 3 after you get your new one, and next week you would have a ton of options. You could consider making 2 moves next week, or keeping the cheapies and rotating a stud, etc.

In effect you'd save the trade(s) this week to better assess things next week. That's the positive. The negative is that this may just be a way of delaying the inevitable, and result in moving Perry/Skinner next week in combination with someone else. If that is the case, you may just want to use the trade this week instead. See option 2.

2. Use another trade this week

I can see making another move, especially if you can't stomach option #1 above, or feel that you'll just be doing it next week anyway. If you are moving someone else on your roster, who would it be?

JGordon frees up a ton of money. He qualified #2, and this could be a breakout week for him. I feel he is too high-priced (4.86m) to hold at this time of the year, when we don't have a lot of cash to go around. So far, his production hasn't warranted the lofty price tag either, making it tough to hold him, IMHO. While it would be nice to hold him, I'd consider moving him for financial reasons.

RGordon isn't a stud, but what do you expect at this price (1.3m)? I think moving him would be a very lateral move, and it certainly frees up almost no money to use elsewhere since he is so cheap. With 6 spots and only 1 trade a week, trades are precious. Cheapies who can produce need to be held and forgotten about, IMHO. I'd hold him.

MKenseth (3.02m) and "BWard" (3.2m) are both about the same price, and both have produced about the same so far this year. They are in the top 6 for overall SNP. I doubt you drafted Kenseth, so if you only picked him up a week or two ago, why move him now? All he has done is produce. He only qualified 34th, but he's been very hot, and came from way back last week. Burton has also been producing very well, and you may have drafted him. He qualified 15th. I think both are great holds for this week, and for the weeks to come.

Newman has been great so far, ranking #2 in total SNP. He is cheap (2.37m), and is gaining money every week. Newman has become one driver that everyone wants to have, and most already do. This is definitely not the time to sell him. Forget about him for now and let him drive.

It seems to me that moving Gordon may be the best option here, even considering he qualified #2 and could win the race. You have to look at your overall roster, not just 1 spot. You can free a little money by moving Kenseth (or maybe Burton). I'm not sure that you can free up enough though. Or, that you really want to move him.

Possible trades:

Open > Petty OR Skinner
JGordon AND Open > tons of combinations, due to the 6.48 million opened up. You could pick up Busch, Johnson, Park, RWallace, JBurton, Mayfield, and tons of others, even including TStewart.
Kenseth/WBurton AND Open > Busch AND Johnson, or Busch AND Mayfield, or Johnson AND Mayfield, or substitute someone like Park in place of Busch.

Discgolfer, he can't afford Green with the open spot, unfortunately. He has 1.62 available, and Green is 1.67.

Good luck Sarge.

Brainfart on my part about Green. With the way qualifing went and with experience I would go with K.Petty and hold the trades.

thanks all....

went w/B. sold RGordon and added HStricklin/JJohnson.

yes, trades are a concern, but I think JJ will be a long term hold to compliment the other guys. Stricklin seemed to me the 'least of the evils' I had available. Prolly not a good reason for taking him, but a good reason I hope for NOT taking one of the others!

btw...You were entirely correct Mike...Ward should have been WBurton.
