LEVEL CROSS, N.C. -- Johnny Benson's recovery from a rib injury and return to the seat of the No. 10 Valvoline Pontiac has set off the latest NASCAR Winston Cup Silly Season move.
Benson's relief driver, Jerry Nadeau, was named Tuesday to drive Petty Enterprises' No. 44 Georgia Pacific Dodge for the rest of the 2002 season. Nadeau will take the reigns from Steve Grissom beginning with Sunday's Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway

Geoffrey Bodine to fill in for brother Todd at Pocono
CONCORD, N. C. -- Geoffrey Bodine will fill in for his brother Todd Bodine in the No. 26 Discover Card Ford for Haas Carter Motorsports at Pocono Raceway this weekend for the Pennsylvania 500.
Todd is committed to drive the No. 92 Excedrin Chevrolet for Herzog Jackson Motorsports in the NASCAR Busch Series race at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Colorado on Saturday.
There goes 1 trade for this weekend. Fortunately, Geoff is cheaper than Todd.

When is Todd Bodine going to wake up and realize that a Discover Card sponsorship in the WC series is FAR more important than an Excedrin sponsorship in the Busch series? Good thing I didn't make any trades yet. ;)

When Todd signed up with Excedrin, he promised them if there was a conflict in scheduling between the 2 series he would run with them. Discover Card's sponsorship is for only a 5 race deal and anything afterwards was not guaranteed. Since Excedrin's deal is for the season........

Actually, Discover Card is for the season now. I know he promised Excedrin, but it would seem in his best interest to find a way out of that and provide a replacement driver (ahem, uh, Geoff, are you doing anything this weekend?) and show Discover what he can do in the WC series so that he can keep their sponsorship for next season.

Didn't know that about Discover Card and the extended sponsorship. But Ouch! I would need some Excedrin for the headache I would have if I had that decision.
