to all those in the Blanket Division...
My brother is the guy whose team is in first right now with a Kenseth like 300+ point lead.

He didn't know this was a NET league (or what NET even meant) and was asking me about buying trades. He somehow managed to get up to #83 WWR (2nd place is at #866 WWR) in the world and has a shot at actually winning some $$$... so I told him it would be okay with me if he bought some trades and went for it all. There are some really good cash prizes that he is in range of...

I think it is reasonable if you guys want to rule him ineligible for the League Championship -but he has also agreed to donate 10% of whatever he manages to win to RotoGuru if he wins a substantial dollar amount - I would guess around 100 bucks or more would be consider enough and that would be a Top 5 finish...

I just wanted to let anyone involved know ahead of time - in the event that he winds up buying trades - (he hasn't yet) I am just supporting our division mate who actually has a shot at representing us and Rotoguru well.. I would imagine the only people who might object are the three teams between 300-400 behind. But even they are gonna have a hard time passing him anyway.

Let me know what you think.

If you can wait a couple of weeks, GO, I can let you know on the Thunder 2004.

I say go for it, he's within reach of the top 50 easy and probably has more $ than most of them. Top 5 might be tough being 236 behind.

Good luck!

thats pretty much the way I viewed it -
his roster value is pretty solid... and would be even more ridiculous with the obvious Talladega JR/Waltrip/DEI priceswings surrounding these two weeks and a full compliment of trades - might leave him near 20 million and an average of 3.5 roughly per driver is awesome - just take Biffle and 5 studs... I think he can do it.

I have him using KKB's Kafenatid track splits and all that stuff too and am helping out... funny part is I use all the info and struggle, though I guess I did good in Season I... but he just goes on instinct and makes one adjustment every week or so...

I would say he is the exception to the rule. He's now going against the top 100 and we know they will all buy trade. So, he should buy as many as he needs. Make our Blanket Division proud!

I'm about 375 points behind him, but I'm not going giving up yet!

well he just bought a few trades - and didn't get Waltrip or Dale Jr... we'll see how that works out.

picked up Gordon and Mayfield (?) I don't know... but he had the Midas touch all year so I really can't argue too much. Time will tell.

Great One -

If you've mastered the art of driving without the assists on, then go for 2004. Otherwise, all it'll do is piss you off. It works fine with both the autobrake and throttle assist on (seems to feel just like the full throttle assist/no autobrake on 2003). Unfortunately, you can't use the autobrake in career mode, so all I do is spend every lap nearly turning my car around, and trust me, I've got a pretty light touch with the controller.

The cars in the rear view mirror are jerky, and I find that annoying.

Needless to say, I'm not too happy with it as of yet. Maybe it just takes some practice, but the game makers said that it was actually easier to drive. What a load of crap.

I have become accustomed to using the assists... I can't imagine not using them - I tried a couple times on road courses where I could just throw it into the corner hard in the first turns - or at Daytona/Talladega... I had trouble in both situations.

Another thing that I find extremely annoying about the game is the new Ally/Rival feature. It's a great idea, but the implementation sucks. Unless it's Jimmy Spencer and Kurt Busch, a rival wouldn't try to put you in the wall every damn time you come up beside them. It borders on the absurd. They don't miss many chances to put their front bumper under your rear bumper and off you go. I find I can spin the car out easy enough without any help at all, thank you very much.

I might be looking to sell the damn thing in a week or two. Probably will be cheap, $30 or so, and I'll pay shipping. For PS/2. Anybody interested?

On the other hand, I =do= like the way the AI cars now block and won't just roll over and move out of your way the minute you get near them. They'll hold their ground unlike in 2003.

I will probably buy it from ya once I get some cash in the next couple weeks...

BTW - Puddle of Mudd - my brothers team is up to #39 now. He cut the 86 ranking in half in two weeks and then some.
Truly Amazing.
Keep on trucking!

Well, I said I *might* be looking to sell it. It depends on if I get used to it or not. Last night I did pretty good. If you end up getting it, you're pretty much going to have to abandon using the buttons to control your gas and brakes and go to the right joystick to do it.

Sludge thats good to know about Thunder 2004. I've got 2003 and love it, but the way I drive I knew there was no way I could get 2003. I bump every race to get position and nudge people out of the way. So with them getting you back I knew after the 2nd race i'd have 34 DNF's :')

Just wondering if anyone has played any of the NASCAR games for PC's?
Looking to purchase soon and would like to know what's best.
Thanks for any input.

I've got Nascar Racing 2003 by Paypus sold by Sierra. Its a really great simulation game. I don't have a joystick or wheel so haven't been able to race that good with it, but its one of the top games i've ever seen.

Thanks P42, I downloaded the demo version, it does look pretty good. Definitely better with a wheel and pedals, had a hard time controlling the car using the keyboard. I picked up a Wingman Formula Force GP on e-bay which worked nice, now to find the game cheap...

And Congrats to Puddle of Mudd on the 13th place finish!

I actually got the game from Amazon for $19.98 which included shipping. They had a price drop to $14.99 when I got the game, so I assume it still is that price.

my big brother did pretty good getting up to 13th in the world.

I don't think we are gonna put the Blanket Division in the Pay Game... anyone with a similar Nascar fantasy alternative for free? yahoo I guess, but any others?
My brother and I don't care about paying so much as all our friends and family who were in that division along with the us Gurupies. We just know they aren't passionate about it enough to actually pay.

So anyone with any alternatives or have a league started somewhere else already?
