0 Subject: Kasey Kahne: The next Newman or Jimmie or better?

This kid is flat out crazy! He takes over Awesome Bill From Dawsonville's ride and is putting on a spectacle at nearly every track he's gone to. He already has 2 poles, 4 top 5's, 3 second-place finishes, and is 7th in points after just 7 races. Without the (cough, cough) help of Jamie McMurray, he could easily be in the top 5 in points.

So, is he the next Ryan Newman (9 victories, 31 Top 5's, 44 Top 10's, and 20 poles in 2+ years) or could he actually be better with Evernham's engine shop? Could he avoid some of the blown engine problems that seem to have plagued Newman just as he was ready to make a strong run at the points championship? Or could he be more like Lucky 13, Jimmie Johnson, who has an average start of 13.46 and average finish of 13.18 through 82 career starts?

So what are your thoughts? All I know is that in every race I've seen Kahne in this year, it seems like he's had the car to beat, or a car that was in contention. Today, he was just flying by other cars like they were parked in the infield. Had NASCAR not brought out 50 cautions that seemed to take 50 laps each for the cleanup, I think Kahne would have easily won.

One thing I think he could work on is his passing instincts. He waited to pass Junior, but when he did, he went right by him. Same thing with Sadler. I think he could have easily blown by him if he had just been a bit more aggressive like he was at the start/finish line. Then again, maybe the lack of that aggressiveness is keeping the car in the race to the finish?

All I know is that this kid is exciting to watch and root for. My fiancee and I might have a new favorite driver. :)

The kid has talent and I see him on the same level as JJ or Newman. Coming into an established team has it's benifits, especially one of that caliber.. What will be importantant is how he works with them in the future; the chemistry of the team. If they all work well together, I think they'll get a win this season, if not I see thier performance slipping.
Remeber when Harvick took over they came up with a win and pretty good performances. Thier team hasn't been as good since.
