One Daytona, but he was still the best we have ever seen. Love him, hate him, but we all knew him. We all should take the time to charish him. He did much for the sport. Take Waltrip for example. I would love to have had Earnhardt as my owner not to mention coach. Wow what a way to go out. Lets all celebrate the life of Dale SR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

It's really too bad that Jr. couldn't pull it out. It would've been fitting for him to carry on his father's legacy. The kicker is that he only lost by 0.124 seconds.

Mrs. D is right all the way. An otherwise outstanding 500. DEI and Chevrolet did very well. Love him, hate him - Dale Sr. "was" NASCAR during my lifetime. How intersting that "The Intimidator," of late, was willing and excited to compete in the 24 Hours of Daytona and take a subsiderary position to team Corvette driver Andy Pilgrim - and do VERY well and be happy about their 2nd in class, third overall finish. And in the 500, at the end, not race for the win, but be pleased to have his son and one of his other drivers race for the win. Our prayers are with the family and all his fans and associates this week.
