0 Subject: Removal of "Wildtangent"

No clue how this damn thing got on the PC and every attemt to remove via the control panel results in the system telling me explorer.exe is using the file and thus cannot remove it.

I have already gone in and changed the wildtangent update from auto to manual and this did not help. A GOOGLE search, yields a site for a program titled NoAdware. (Not the same as ad-aware.) I have always had a hesitancy with such similarly titled products. Like one is trying to pirate off the others good name, and so have not tried the NoAdware.

Has anybody here succeeded in removing this little bugger or had experience with the NoAdware program?

If I go into regedit (something I do seldom and with great trepidation), I find under HKey_Local_Machine/Software, a folder titled Wildtangent. If I simply delete this folder from the registry, will that allow for control panel/ad-remove to remove the program, or would that prevent the system from even finding the damn thing?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you used Spybot? It should remove it

You could also try to remove it in safe mode.

What is "WildTangent Controls" in my Control Panel ?
WildTangent is a plugin for online gaming similar to Macromedia's flash. It is used for 3D online and offline games that play in the web browser. The program will share your name, address, email address, phone number, and other information. Collects system configuration information such as your computer's CPU speed, video card configuration, and DirectX version. Collects product usage information such as the number of product launches and time spent using a product. WildTangent can retrieve and install additional software. It will deliver advertisments to your computer when you are playing the game.

How to Remove WildTangent?

In order to uninstall, please follow these steps:

Go to START > Settings > Control Panel
Double click Add/Remove Programs, Select WildTangent , Click uninstall or add/remove, follow the on screen instructions.
Open the registry editor (Click Start > Run, type regedit). Locate the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
In the right pane, find and delete the following entries ( if they exists):

wcmdmgr
wt gamechannel
ddcm

Close registry editor.

Restart your computer.
Open your Window directory ( for example: c:\windows), then open the wt foler, delete all the files in it.
