Wondering if any of the computer guru's can help me with this one... I've created a spreadsheet to track a model stock portfolio. Currently, I have to manually update the share price for the stocks in the portfolio. I'm sure there is a way to automatically update the field via a weblink or something, but since I'm a very basic pc user, I don't have a clue how to do it..

Can anyone give me a quick run down of how to do this?

thanks in advance for your assistance.

When I do this, I simply copy in (ie, copy and paste) the data from a web page that has all of the needed prices on one page. In my case, I use My Yahoo to track the stock prices.

Once you have a sheet with all of the prices in it, you can have your spreadsheet lookup the current price for each stock. The VLOOKUP function should be handy to accomplish this.

If you are adept with macros, you could create one to load the price page with the click of a button. But if you are a "very basic" user, I suspect this might be beyond your current capabilities.

I believe yahoo actually sells you a program that will do this for you. My dad uses it, but I don't so I can't give any details.

Guru,
My wife uses Vlookups between sheets, so may know how to expand on that use. I on the other hand barely know what Vlookup is. I'll talk to her about it to see what she may be able to do..

Bili, As for Yahoo selling a program.. I may be interested, if it's a one time nominal price, if I can't figure out how to do it on my own....

thanks both for the ideas.. I'll be back after I try this out to let you know my results and/or ask for more help.....
