I have been away from downloading for some time and decided to try and get a song tonight and then realized where can I do this from and NOT have to pay?

I used Kaazaa and napster back in the day, but just couldnt handle the spyware and viruses. I soon came across a program called bittorent. I use that exclusively now. Just download the program and go to a site like www.torrentspy.com and begin downloading its really simple. They usually have only full cds there though.

Imesh.com

This is one of the best out there in my opinion. No popups, No Spyware, No Trojans.

keep in mind, if you're downloading from one of these sites, it's quite likely you're breaking the law.

the RIAA is cracking down more and more, and the fines are steep. what may be free now may be five figures later.

Sure we are......anyway I plan on using my second machine for doing this....thus not risking any spy ware ect... on my main machine. Also as for Tree's statement...true in one sense and not true in others. Reason is it depends on what you download period! Also don't share tons after you download. Move the files. That is my plan at least. When I do get a virus then I will blow the HD away and start again.

THANKS to all of you that have contributed to this.

For the love of dog, before you download, think of the artists and all the effort they put forth creating the music....and album covers.
Think of the Children.

to all -

if you're downloading copyrighted material, you're breaking the law. period.

maddog - if you're not paying attention, they're going after people. while they may not be going after everyone, they've gotten 12 year old kids and they've gotten 80 year old grandmothers.

CJ - it doesn't matter if you share. it matters if you download.

jtserb - perhaps, true. however, going to court to prove that you were downloading something you purchased, won't be cheap.

Actually, to my knowledge there has yet to be a case where anyone has been charged for downloading music. All if the cases I've heard of are broiught against people who are sharing it.

Hey Tree, that 20 million figure I posted is probably way low. It's probably more like 100 million people downloading stuff. And that's just the United States.

I think Mattingly is right. That IMESH software has a setting where you can just download and not share anything with anybody. Seems a bit unfair but if you're going to use it you might as well let somebody else get busted if they are actually busting people. They aren't going to get 99.99999999% of the people who are doing it.

Forget about IMesh. They have some kind of restriction on downloading until you pay for their service now.

Used to be good.

I downloaded LIMEWIRE and this looks very promising. 46 million downloads of this thing. WOW!

The recording industry should just give up.

I dunno. Guru banned you 1x or 2x already as PGunn and Jerry Lewis. You've been warned (I've seen the Guru posts) and you've been a troll on the baseball boards with the "I hate baseball stuff"

Look, I'm not trying to pick a flame. i just find it curious, you are the only one I know that has posted consistantly under at least 4 names. it was just a question i've been wondering about. Go ahead and post away.

I'm not PGunn or Jerry Lewis.

Why should you be banned for saying you "hate baseball"? Is that against the law or something?

Is is sacraligious to say you can't stand baseball or something? It's a stupid sport.

It has nothing to do with the law or sacrelige. Its respect. I don't care for golf but that doesn't make me want to antagonize people who post in the golf forum by insulting the sport that brings them there and insult them by their association to the subject that I belittle with unsolicited opinions. For most self respecting adults, not caring for something means that you don't get involved in it, if possible, not spam public forums dedicated to the topic with hate messages.

Your activity there undermines the forum and distracts the people who go there to talk about baseball. I'm sure yo could find some like-minded if you looked for an anti-baseball public forum. There must be plenty out there. But I don't think that would interest you because you actually seem to get off on telling people that you don't like their hobbies or think they're stupid. It's been made clear to you that your doing this pisses people off - and that only seems to make you want to do it more.

I don't get it. Guru spends his own personal time and money to provide this forum for free to anyone who wants to read through or express themselves and you choose to exploit that so that you can get off by pissing people off. I guess some people just enjoy being pricks.

I would have to agree with that! I use a secondary computer for going to sites such as that. IF I get some of that nasty that Tree is talking about then I just reformat.

LOL I thought the same ...Like Tree has never been driving over the speed limit, or like you said smoking pot. Back in the 80's did you ever make back-ups of your Cassettes? Was that illegal? Just too funny you posted exactly what came to mind about Tree's comments. Not that I know if has ever smoked POT, but something tells me it has a better than 50% chance that might be true.

LOL

Cindy, is this the thing you were looking for?
www.liangdianup.com/computeraccessories_1.htm

It's on the list of computer accessories and parts. They have the DVI video thing to convert that jap monitor to work with your other computer. Just about any other kind of wire adaptor, usb connectors, monitor extension wires, ps2 extention wires, and all kinds of female and male swap connectors and things that I think would help your shop. If that above link don't work then goto www.lducompany.com and click on computer accessories. Let me know if that is what you need and give me your email address again.
