Now I know I can use COUNTIF to tell me how many times $5.00 shows up in the 2nd column, but how can I get it to tell me how many times $5.00 shows up when there's 9 players? Is this possible? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Haven't heard of them, but I see there's a 20 minute tutorial on how to use them. Do you think its worthwhile to watch it?

it may not be the "easiest" but I'd make an extra column combining the two.
something like A2&"-"&B2 (which would give you ---> "9-$5.00")
Then you can count based on that.
I'm scared of pivot tables, stay away!!!!!!!

Thats actually what I did J, but I might give pivot tables a go as I'm always keen to add to my spreadsheet knowledge. :)
