Is there a way in excel to lock everything down the way it is and then sort things by rows? Like in a baseball league I run i've got all the free agents written down, they aren't in order of what they play, would there be a way to have excel put them in order?

In order of what they play? What do you mean? Sort by position? Sure. Highlight the entire spreadsheet (ctrl S) Then go to:
DATA->SORT

and select the column with the position in it.
