0 Subject: My Google has been Hijacked

Whenever I use google on this computer, the search takes about 15 seconds to show results (instead of being instant) and the first page of "results" is always a list of advertisements for something related to what I searched for. For example, if I search for "basketball", I'll get a page of results of websites where I can buy basketball cards. The second page of search results is always the real first page of results from google. Does anyone know what is infecting me?

I just tried to do a search on yahoo and I got the same sort of thing, so whatever trojan is doing this seemingly has taken over any web search I do.

Have you run the spyware seekers?

All Spybot S&D found was a few tracking cookies.

Run Adaware as well--sometimes the two find stuff the other doesn't.

As a preventative, I also run Spyware Blaster. Like an anti-virus program which runs in the background.

Ad Aware didn't remove it, so I'll try spyware blaster.

Try this page and see if it helps any.

Also, there seems to be something that worked in this thread towards the bottom. Scroll up from the bottom to the first entry under "Comments" (From: chaoticsilence-ga on 13 May 2004 04:18 PDT). Those instructions seemed to work for that guy.
