I've got a minor frustration on my new Windows XP Pro machine that I built for Christmas. I like to have my IE settings such that the browser handles Temporary Internet Files by checking for newer versions of stored pages "Every visit to the page". However, when I check this option under Tools-Internet Options-General-Settings, my preference only stays around until the next time I close my IE browser. When I restart IE the setting is back to "Automatically". How do I make my choice stay around permanently?

Do you use this to connect to your work network?

RSF - No I don't access a work network but it is conncted to a home network (cabled into a Linksys Wireless Access Point) to get access to a cable modem that's shared amongst two other computers.

I was guessing at the following setting in IE:
Tools (Menu) Internet Options (Menu) Connections (Tab) Lan Settings...(Button)
I'd make sure "Automatically detect settings" and "Use Automatic Settings Script" are unchecked.
Only thing else I could thing of is some sort of local policies being set, but lets look at those afterward.

RSF - I checked the LAN Settings as suggested and both of those options are, and have been, unchecked - so that's not what is doing it. This was a great guess - I didn't even know about those options.
I wish I wasn't so clueless on how XP starts up and which program (virus protection, anti-spyware, Windows Security, Firewall, ...) might be resetting my IE options. This isn't a real big deal but I hate being clueless.
